My Olimpics Levels Idea
Archive: 20 posts
On the Subjest of the Olympics The first level idea i ever had was to make a olymics level comprising of mini games of all the disciplines. Now i know you can link levels with keys i am gonna make every discipline a seperate level and try to figure out how to make the scores represent how good you did in the level somehow. Also wondering if anyone knows if you can link scoreboards together so that if your levels are linked by keys you could link the scores together to give a combined score of those levels. As i would like to have a overall score for say a decathalon or like all of the levels | 2008-08-03 12:08:00 Author: dorien Posts: 2767 |

What events would you do? Swimming's probably out of the question. | 2008-08-03 13:04:00 Author: marmiteman Posts: 124 |

I would probably try to do as many of the events as poss with some sort of way of recreating the event, i have ideas already of some events but untill i get my hands on the game i will see how to implement them | 2008-08-03 20:08:00 Author: dorien Posts: 2767 |
It would be easy to do hurdles, just add a race kit to the level and create hurdles for your sackboy to jump over. | 2008-08-03 20:52:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |

Yep Yep Some will be simple and some tricky, but i think i'm up to the challenge lol Sounds like a really cool idea. I think you could give it a lbp twist by adding machines that require skill/luck/timing so that its a little more diverse. Its up too you though, it would feel more genuine without And by machines i mean like (for example) a catapult or a spring or something for longjump, that would give varying results | 2008-08-03 21:53:00 Author: Maltay Posts: 2073 |
I will help you Beta test it | 2008-08-03 22:18:00 Author: LittleBigSack Posts: 72 |

I've thought of a basketball level where your on a platform that is moving from left to right and maybe up and down (using the hydraulic piston looking things, don't know what they're called lol) which would have some sort of catapult on to launch the balls, where each time you launched a ball an ommiter would place another one on you catapult for your next launch and you would launch the catapult with a switch thats on the platform. The basket would be on the same sort of platform but i would tweak the pistons so that the basket platform and the catapult platform would go back and forth at different speeds so as to keep it random where you'd have to launch the balls. Hopefully if you can i would make the basket 5 balls deep and put a micro chip on the balls so that when the fifth ball goes through it lines up with a proximity chip and a barrier will open to your left that you can go through to finish the level | 2008-08-03 22:29:00 Author: dorien Posts: 2767 |

I still haven't given much thought to waht i'm actualy going to sit down and put alot of commitment into, but thats a great idea! (Dont worry, I wont steal it ) | 2008-08-03 22:33:00 Author: Maltay Posts: 2073 |

You should definitely include include these guys as they are the mascots of the Beijing Olympics (& they are cute ) http://turbomilk.com/img/beijing2008.gif Also, here is a list of events that you should try to include (unfortunately excluding all water events): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_Summer_Olympics#Sports | 2008-08-03 23:35:00 Author: Unknown User |
Wow, look at those chibi-things (lol, I know one is a panda bear, but are they supposed to be ALL panda bears?). | 2008-08-03 23:42:00 Author: Alaska_Gamer Posts: 209 |
Wow, look at those chibi-things (lol, I know one is a panda bear, but are they supposed to be ALL panda bears?). "The 2008 Olympic Mascots are the five Fuwa (simplified Chinese: 福娃, literally "good luck dolls"). The Fuwa consist of five members that incorporate fish, giant panda, fire, Tibetan antelope, and swallow designs. The Fuwa each have as their primary colour, one of the colours of the five Olympic Rings that stand for the five continents. The five Fuwa are named Beibei, Jingjing, Huanhuan, Yingying, and Nini. When the first syllable of each of the five names are said together, the result is the phrase 北京欢迎你 (Běijīng huāny?ng nĭ which means "Beijing welcomes you"." Very interesting! xD | 2008-08-04 00:16:00 Author: Unknown User |

If by olympics you mean boss fights, leaps of faith, and pits of fire IM IN! running and jumping over things is boring unless its spikey and on fire. | 2008-08-04 02:15:00 Author: Jack Posts: 999 |
It would be easy to do hurdles, just add a race kit to the level and create hurdles for your sackboy to jump over. Make that FLAMING hurdles and you have my attention. I though about this idea this morning. must be something to do with the Beijing anticipation. Water sports aren't out of the question. You could have diving, where you have to jump from a height and hit a target or something, or else they'll get shocked/ catch on fire. Also, rowing is possible, where theres a switch you have to pull back and forth to propel your boat, there could be 2 teams of 2 and the team that goes in time the best would travel faster, and hence, win. | 2008-08-04 06:34:00 Author: Dropbear Posts: 272 |
Well, then there needs to be water. I think if there is, it would work great. | 2008-08-04 18:50:00 Author: bbroman Posts: 1374 |
There doesn't HAVE to be water. I think MM is leaving it up to us to get creative. Like the pirate ship level, it has 'water' which is nothing more than rollers, cardboard shaped like waves and flames behind. | 2008-08-05 01:47:00 Author: Dropbear Posts: 272 |
****n... how did I not think about that before?! | 2008-08-07 04:50:00 Author: xzentrico Posts: 27 |
You could put a twist on the hurdles if you used big footballs, which they can't jump over, and have to roll and sling themselves over! | 2008-08-07 12:44:00 Author: DrunkMiffy Posts: 2758 |
