Newspaper Comics

I don't know much about internet based comics, but I find interest in newspaper comics. I hardly see any in print, but I've found various place where newspaper comics are stored online. Such as: http://news.yahoo.com/comics I'd say my favorites are: BC (http://news.yahoo.com/comics/bc) - A classic. Ferd'nand (http://news.yahoo.com/comics/ferdnand) - Doesn't use any dialog, like a silent movie. Over the Hedge (http://news.yahoo.com/comics/over-the-hedge) - The movie (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0327084/) of the same title was based off of the characters of this. If you want to read more comic strips (Yahoo only shows a week of each comic) just go to the website the comic is linked to. I just have the boring hobby of reading them... Anybody read any of them? Calvin and Hobbes was amazing until they stopped putting it in newspapers... I have books and books of Calvin and Hobbes. | 2010-10-27 03:13:00 Author: eagerneph Posts: 1536 |
Calvin and Hobbes was amazing until they stopped putting it in newspapers... Yeah, what's the story on that? I've never seen them in papers, but they are hilarious. | 2010-10-27 03:17:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
I've always loved classics like Peanuts and Garfield, but also more recent ones like Pooch Cafe and Pearls Before Swine. Ask me to name my favorite, and it'd have to be... Popeye (http://popeye.com/). | 2010-10-27 05:13:00 Author: Outlaw-Jack Posts: 5757 |
This one's from the 80's...Gary Larson was a genius http://summitlake.com/graphics/wp-graphics/uploads/Gary-Larson-do-not-touch.gif http://vator.tv/images/attachments/240809062556hopefulparents_01.jpg | 2010-10-28 01:55:00 Author: ExplosiveCheddar Posts: 978 |
We still get Calvin & Hobbes in the newspaper in NZ. Best comic ever btw. "Zits" is also a good one, not sure how popular it is elsewhere. You can view em online here (http://www.arcamax.com/zits/s-789310-614846). I'm used to it in B&W so it looks a little weird to me ha. | 2010-10-28 04:21:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |

I remember Zits, very funny too, I just didn't know where to find it. I'm used to it in B&W so it looks a little weird to me ha. I found it very surprising when I found that there was a comic strip about the movie Over the Hedge, even more surprising that the comic came before it... There's also a Marmaduke comic, and Ripley's Believe it or Not. One is a movie now, and I would have never suspected there would be a comic for a television show. | 2010-10-28 04:40:00 Author: warlord_evil Posts: 4193 |
Yeah, what's the story on that? I've never seen them in papers, but they are hilarious. Bill Watterson retired is what. Gary Larson was a genius Yes he is. He did not die yet, people, he just retired. But, they were super epic to have in the same paper when I was growing up. | 2010-10-28 04:58:00 Author: Super_Dork_42 Posts: 1874 |

How about Viz anybody?? Bit rude for some people on this site (agewise) but nonetheless some brilliant British humour there, not really a newspaper strip more like a comic of its own with a few competitions and "problem pages" (youll understand if you buy a copy) but it hilarious stuff! | 2010-10-28 13:05:00 Author: Skalio- Posts: 920 |
