GET ORGANIZED!! LBP2 beta video - New Categorization and Organization Popit features.

Archive: 23 posts

Howdy folks! I just uploaded a video to Youtube showing the new categorization and organization features in the LBP2 beta. It's a quick rundown of the new features and how you can use them to optimize staying organized during your builds. For those not in the beta, you also get a little glance at two of the animated skins in motion (not sure if anyone else has posted video of them yet).

To Cc and the mod team - I hope it's okay... I put a bit of an advert to prompt people to check out this site, as it's really the best place to go for info and friendly advice. If it's not, please let me know and I will re-upload a version without the web address.

I'd like to apoligize in advance for the poor quality, but I had to record it from my little Canon Powershot SD1000, as I don't have all that fancy capture card technolgy some of you have. I'd also like to apoligize for my goofy voice and the fact that I still sound like a teenager... I have yet to break puberty I guess. The upside to that is when I'm 60 I'll still be dating 25 year olds.

Hopefully the video will clarify a few new features for some of you, and get you a little more excited for the new game.

Cheers!
Rustbukkit

EDIT:Not sure how to get the actual video to show on this page, so if anyone can help with that I'd love to know (but you gotta' talk to me like I'm three so I understand it). In the meantime, click the link above. Also, I highly suggest watching this on a computer, iphone, or anything else but a PS3 or two tin cans tied together with string as it looks terrible on those.

Don't worry about it... there's LOTS of new stuff to wrap our heads around. I'm still discovering new things all the time (though mostly to do with da Logix'z). 2010-10-27 03:12:00

I have subscribers? Uh oh... no pressure or anything right? lolz It's a bit weird sitting in a darkened room talking to a bunch of people who aren't even there (even weirder than those Public Interest Talks I had to do in grade school), but hopefully this video will be helpfull to some folks interested in the game and those in the beta who haven't discovered these features as I did. I may make more in the near future, talking about the few things I'm actually good at in creating... so... no logic stuff (Coasterfreak can attest to that )2010-10-27 04:00:00

Thanks!

You mean pull the camera back right? I had it zoomed in because I knew the quality wouldn't be great, and I wanted to make sure the popit was nice and close so it could be seen well. I'll have to go in as well (if I make more videos), and play with the camera settings a bit to find something that picks up a tv screen a bit better.

I have thought about making LBP videos several times, the problem is:
1. I don't have any good video recording software. (So I would have to use a camera)
2. I don't have a good camera... I suppose my phone's camera would work ok...
3. I have an old tv... so it looks horrible on camera, u can see the pixels!! lol

I'd go with a regular camera at the minimum if you do. Even my iPhone camera wouldn't likely show up well I don't think. I felt like I was pushing it even with this camera as it looks pretty bad on YouTube through the PS3. At least it's bearable on my iPhone screen, and likely a bit better on a computer (which I'm without so I can't check it.2010-10-27 05:21:00

Awesome. Seems as though, you can't have a category within a category, though. 2010-10-27 06:52:00

Nope, no sub-categories allowed I'm afraid. Still, this is a big step in the right direction for us. You just need to do a bit of pre-planning on whether you want to set up your categories by level, theme, types of objects etc. I've already found it really useful for keeping track of both new and old things. I didn't think the "sort by colour" option would interest me at first either, but I've already found myself going to that a few times. I really like the system, and am really pleased with the results it's yielding so far.2010-10-27 07:09:00

Thanks Rustbukkit, I didn't actually know you could make your own categories like that!

Another handy feature is you can use R2 and L2 to scroll through the pop-it much faster.

Oh great... now I have to go back and re-shoot the video! Nah... just kidding. Thanks...I forgot to mention that part, and I still think there's somehting else I wanted to point out but I can't remember what it was. Oh well... I think I hit all the main stuff.

Sub-categories would be nice, but this is good enough for me. Realistically, we weren't even expecting this feature... so I'm not going to complain that they left the "subs' out. I mena hey... they gotta' leave something for us to look forward to in LBP3 right?

Indeed! This is by far one of my most used new features, and it isn't just limited to popit, either. You can do this in almost all of the menus!

Yup, I noticed this during my 10 hour play session the day after I got the beta.

Some people didn't notice it when I mentioned it here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=38465-A-Poem-of-Plea-to-Media-Molecule-from-Me&p=666492), so yeah. Nice to have a video on it now!

EDIT: Oh, and go Canada! ...Just sayin'...

@ Klaww... yeah, I'm guessing I didn't see that thread on account of it's title having nothing to do with the content and subject matter of the actual thread... lolz.

And yes... GO CANADA
