LBP for PSP FAQ

Archive: 5 posts

I'm gonna post this here since most of this can (hopefully) quell a lot of repetitive "suggestions" Please feel free to add questions (especially any newer members)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q. When are they going to make LBP2 for PSP?
-A. Not any time soon. The PSP version is much more recent than the PS3 version, thus a sequel would be redundant (so to speak) Also, the PSP is less capable of performing advanced functions even remotely close to LBP2 PS3.

Q. Is there going to be lighting?
-A. Quote from a Developer Interview conducted by SponG: (http://spong.com/detail/editorial.jsp?eid=10110124&page=4)

You know, you're never going to be able to do all the fancy lighting techniques on the PSP, but you can do other things.

Q. Why is there no multiplayer?
-A. Quote from a Develop Interview conducted by SponG: (http://spong.com/detail/editorial.jsp?eid=10110124&page=4)

It's a real tricky one with multiplayer, in that on the PSP, as soon as you turn the Wi-Fi on, you lose a third of your processing power. You lose a third of your available system memory for the libraries and what have you. So, we were looking at it and we think it might be feasible to do something the size of the mini-games in multiplayer. But something of the complexity of most of the levels just wouldn't be possible.

Q. Why won't they let us import music/images from our PSPs?
-A. Copyright laws, plain and simple.

Q. Everytime I load up a level. It suddenly stops and shuts my game off! What's happening?
-A. https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=19461-The-corrupt-profile-thread-(Back-up-your-data-NOW (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=19461-The-corrupt-profile-thread-(Back-up-your-data-NOW)!)

Q. We need Water!
A. No we do not, the PS3 side was able to survive for a long time without real water so the PSP side can manage. Not only that, but from the previous quotes you can ascertain a conclusion as to what the limits of this game is.

Q. Why can't we have make our own stickers?
A. The camera feature was very close to making the final cut. As proven by hidden tutorial videos and an empty space in the Pod that used to be "My Photos" It is possible that the camera feature could be in the PSP's future, but it would take a sizeable leap in processing power.

The fourth slot on the My Pod rocket was originally intended for 'My Pictures', but this was a function that we were unable to implement.

Q. Is it possible to have a cut tool like in the PS3?
A. While this following quote does not exactly specify the cut tool, It does relate to it in some manner. Full answer still pending.

Well, we were very careful about how much memory we had, and [careful about] just tiny, tiny little things about how to limit the number of collisions that are going on, just to free the machine up just enough to hold the framerate there. There were lots of sneaky little things.

Q. Why can't we sticker sackpeople?
A. As a basis, I'll state that there is no multiplayer or way, built into the game, for other people to see your sackperson's costume. That by itself can make this feature irrelevant but also... Stickers do not have the ability to wrap around objects. Because of that, it is a little easier to comprehend that 3 dimensional sackboy cannot be stickered without some technical difficulties.

Q. Will we ever get a chance to get the 'Wheely Good Sticker' ever again?
-A. Yes, as AceCreator has said,

Hey cory_7101995,

Don't worry, there'll be plenty more competitions, and the 'Wheely Good Sticker' will feature as a prize for at least one of them.

Regards,

AceCreator.

Yeah, it might take a while to answer certain questions since I'm gonna have to go dig up interviews and AceCreator sometimes doesn't always answer questions, so...

*Starts digging*

Maybe you should put why we only have two walking lanes instead of three like the PS3 version. Some people don't understand why.

Also, you should put that we are not getting any lighting at all. I PMed Ace a while ago(9-14-2010) with this response:

Hi cory_7101995,

Currently we're not planning any power-ups or lighting settings.

Regards,

AceCreator.

And you should put something like this:

Q. Will we ever get a chance to get the 'Wheely Good Sticker' ever again?
-A. Yes, as AceCreator has said,
