How to make Teleports and other beginner creator questions

Hello there!

Can anyone tell me how to make teleports? I saw that in a couple of levels and I already realised that it's done somehow with the checkpoints. But I have no idea how exactly it works.

Another question: Is there any chance to use unvisible materials in LBP? I mean a material that is visible in the editor but unvisible in playing mode. Is such a material existing?

For teleporting you can hook up pretty much any switch to a checkpoint to activate it & by forcing the player to
hit a hazard they re-spawn at the new location.
The hardest part is that you can't test it in create mode because you re-spawn without the checkpoints.

I usually just hook up a proximity switch to the checkpoint you want them to move to,as well as an emitter or
a piston that can put a block of gas where the player is.
Emitters in my personal experience can jam up sometimes because (presumably because the player is there)
but there fairly reliable if your level wont allow you the room to use a piston set-up.

Not exactly.I think there is in lbp2 but not lbp.
However if your willing to work with materials that are invisible in create as well (wich can make them a little
difficult to select) you could always use "dragon matter" which you can get from community levels (just do a search for it,
its often in the name of the level too.
Or if you only need thin stips of it you can make long lines of dark-matter & shrink them until they "disappear".

Lastly there is a tutorial on making invisible materials but I personally had some difficulties with it.

Can anyone tell me how to make a thunderstorm? In some community levels a saw flashing lightnings, thunders etc., but how can I create such a weather?

To spawn a lightning with an emitter is not the problem but what about the bright flashing background and the loud thunder?

Edit:

I now mad an emitter that emits several lightnings (glas with electricity),each for 0,2 sec. and lightning as sound object. So far so good. Then I made two emitters for the flashing background. The first one emits an environment switch that makes the background brighter and the second emitter comes 0,2 sec. later and turns the background back to darkness. Of course synchronous to the emitted lightnings.

The effect is quite ok in my opinion, but is this the best way to let the background flash? Or is there any possibility to select a real storm background/environment?
