Publishing Level Problems
Archive: 7 posts
Im in dire need of help. I have spent countless hours on my very first level and have reached the final stage with incredible anticipation only to find a problem with the level as I publish it. My level works perfectly in create mode with everything working flawlessly and can also be played in play mode, again its flawless. HOWEVER, when I publish the level, my final piece (an elevator) of art is not cooperating anymore. The elevator is supposed to be triggered by tapping R1 and presto, doors close and raises. This elevator is what is used in LBP Centrals tutorials. BUT, after it is published, for some odd reason, it is moving up and down and the doors are opening and closing. It makes no sense as why it would do this as it is all activated by switches, but of course, its doing it... Any help or ideas? The level is published and is titled: The 'Level I dont have a name for' by John82wa. Thanks for any and all help!! I also forgot to mention, I have the warning that the level is overheating but has yet to reach the final straw...Dont know if that would be the issue, I cant see why, but im very new to this....Thanks again! | 2010-10-26 07:35:00 Author: John82wa Posts: 221 |
After reviewing the level today to see the activity, I noticed that 34 players have played the level and only 4 have finished. So it appears that the elevator is acting out the majority of the time. Im am trying desperately to get this resolved as the level has been given 4 stars and thats with out the user getting the full experience. Please help me so I can have this thing working at its full potential, surely someone has experienced something like this? Thanks again | 2010-10-27 01:02:00 Author: John82wa Posts: 221 |

It sounds like your grab switch is set to inverted. I had an issue recently with a level exhibiting weird behavior with motor bolts rotating in the opposite direction. The level was also at Max thermo. I had to set the bolts to turn in the oposite direction to make it work. I would suggest performing a test, as follows. First, verify your grab switch is not set to inverted. If it is, then there is your problem. If it's not, set it to inverted and repub the level, then play it online to see if the elevator is still acting up, or if it is working as it should. If it is still acting the same (moving up and down with doors opening and closing) then change the grap switched back to On/Off, and repub again. Sometimes, making a change such as this and saving the level, then exiting, and then going back into create mode and changing it back can eliminate some strange behaviors. Let me know how this works for you. Rick | 2010-10-27 01:44:00 Author: RickRock_777 Posts: 1567 |
No luck Rick...It turns out if I added anything (in create mode) the elevator would immediately start acting up if unpaused. My guess the level was just too maxed out so the publishing of the level just put it over the top. I ended up solving it by deleting it all together and starting the elevator from scratch.... I wish I actually knew the solution to help alleviate future problems and for others to know how to solve it....oh well, she's up and running though :star: John D | 2010-10-27 05:56:00 Author: John82wa Posts: 221 |
