Journey to the City of VelmMr-Cloud-Strife
You have dropped in the middle of a mystical world called Velm. Velmanites have struggled for freedom from their captor Eclipse and his subordinates for decades. Guards have mistaken you for the enemy! You must defeat Kato the Rock and jump through the portal to see what awaits you!!

Cloud Here!

Just trying to get feedback on one of my older levels. I am thinking about extending the rolling Blue Hill's to the beginning of the level and expounding more on the cave. Any suggestions I will happily take. Thanks!

I only really do F4F but I thought id check out your level for some reason seeing as how you nicely asked for some comments and or feedback on how to improve so here we are. Well first off, why does that dude die when the lift goes up at the start? Poor guy. Anyway my advice for is this, first off definitely replace the checkpoints with infinite lives. Also in parts your level just feels a little bare boned and skeletal in parts and also has an odd placement of enemies where the kills come from and certain difficutly spikes out of nowhere. Maybe try to fill in your level a little more as to give some reason and meaning behind your ideas. For example, at the start where you go up the lift and then swing on them floating grabbale's and then over the floating wall of spikes, why not have like a stone wall and even a cieling or tree which the grabbables can hang from with visible rope? The wall of spikes could be connected to the ceiling somehow or even be a part of the the floor like a flaming tree trunk or something like that. And also those random kills that seem to come out nowhere like at the start where the bad guy baragges you with plasma and then a bomb, maybe you should cut down them a little because it creates a feeling of frustration especially to young kids and noobs and they quit for that and may give you a bad rating. Also, you should increase the radius of the sensors because the keys on the gabbables have to be too accurate to get it right which again may frustrate some. Also those walls which you have jump on wall to wall, they need to be a little further out and not so slanted so it gives better grip for players to stand. The parts at the top it were better, you should stick to that all the way from the bottom of the wall to wall jump section. And that part where the dude "mentions Kato and has to of his home boys shootin at me, I kept etting hit with seemingly random bombs which I had no idea where they were coming from, maybe it was too dark but in any case lose that I think or atleast make it clearer to the player. And lastly, the boss just took way too much damage and before he went down and there was no cover to hide from the plasma which would have helped improve the fun and lower the frustration. The plasmas and bits of rocks were already deadly but the bombs he threw were just overkill but Im glad to say I passed it and beat him He was one tough cookie.

I dont normally write this much to anyone but you genuinely seemed to want to improve this level so I hope appreciate that I took the time out to anylise your level and write this to you. I hope this helps you in some way and all I ask for in return is for you to play my level "Resident Raytech" which is a mysterious high tech facility which you make you way out of. Thank you.

LFiers,

Your honesty is much appreciated! Almost to the point of laughter because many of the area's that truly need work, you pointed out... And I'm grateful! You have my word on playing your level of course... without question. This was just the direction I needed. I'll make these adjustments right away!

Unfortunately I was not able to finish the level. I had two other people with me who weren't as patient as I am, so I finally had to leave when the frustration became too much. Most of what the other post says is quite accurate, and I would have to agree. But still a good level, and I hope to play it again and make it through when you make those changes!2010-10-29 20:35:00
