Can sackbots move up and down in a DCS?

Archive: 10 posts

I have placed to Tags up in the air (top down shooter) and set the sackbot to follow way point.
Setup up his DCS to have 100% anti-gravity and be able to move up and down, But he will only move left and right, why wont he move up and down, do I need to do something else?

Positive I plugged them in right. I tried the advanced mover, I even tried two of them, 1 for up and down and the other for left and right.
I also tried the same with just the normal mover, and the sackbots still move left and right.
How do I wire them up? Do I wire the analog sticks to the movers, or would it be different because there sackbots?

The only way it works is if you put a look mover on the DCS, not the sackbot. But that is a bit pointless as you would have to have loads of way points just to get the sackbot to go around in a squar.2010-10-24 17:07:00

Are you sure youre connecting the Up/down wires to the upper input of the advanced mover, and not the one below?
Advanced movers have 3 inputs:
Above: Up/ down movement.
Middle-left: Left Right movement.
Below: Up/Down movement force (or something like that.)

So to make it move up and down you need to connect it to the input above m8, otherwise it won't do much.

Hope that helps!

I know all that, and I have done so. My character works fine, but the sackbot does not.

I will post a picture in a moment.

Could be a bug. Maybe sackbot route-plotting doesn't work inside a DCS. Have you tried different behaviours? Follow/flee for instance?2010-10-25 13:08:00

I have tried them yeah, on follow and flee he will either follow me left or right and the same for flee, even if I am above him.
The only one I can get it working on, is if I put an "look mover" on the DCS not the sackbot, but then I would have to dot coloured way points throughout my world.

Is this another bug?
I make a whatever my DCS is on into Hologram material, and put a sackbot in. I then control the Hologram material with the sackbot attached. Now If it is a top down racer/shooter with buidlings in, the sackbot just goes straight through them, now I know the hologram material can go through anything, but I thought with a "solid" sackbot on it, it would block it from going straight through.

I hope that it is a bug, as I don't fancy controlling a small piece of wood just so it won't go through things.
