Salieri's Sack-character Sunday Pt 1: Music and LiteratureSalieriAAX A selection of historical sack-characters for you to take away and do with as you wish Included in the level are 10 highly detailed historical sackfolk from the history of music and literature. Five of them are writers and five are composers. Some are very easy to identify and some possibly more obscure. I will award 20XP for each character correctly identified. Post here with your guesses. I'll update this list with any correct answers: 1. William Shakespeare (Arrestor) 2. George Frideric Handel (unXpectiD) 3. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (RoxasSora358) 4. Jane Austen (Arrestor) 5. Charles Dickens (Arrestor) 6. Giuseppe Verdi (Arrestor) 7. Mark Twain (unXpectiD) 8. Edward Elgar (unXpectiD) 9. Giacomo Puccini (Arrestor) 10. Agatha Christie (unXpectiD) | 2010-10-24 09:53:00 Author: SalieriAAX Posts: 421 |
is one of them beethoven?? | 2010-10-24 11:59:00 Author: Hellobob5 Posts: 382 |
Hi and guten Tag! my guesses: 1. Shakespeare 2. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart 3. Ludwig van Beethoven 4. Jane Austen 5. Charles Dickins 6. Giuseppe Fortunino Francesco Verdi 7. 8. Edvard Grieg 9. 10. | 2010-10-24 12:10:00 Author: Arrestor Posts: 363 |
I can tell you that none of them is beethoven, but from now on I should add that all guesses have to be accompanied by a number, otherwise you could just name any famous people. So, if you guess a name that is in the list but associated with the wrong character, then sadly that's no points. Obviously I reserve the right to identify the intended personality portrayed, even if you don't think it looks much like them... Arrestor: Good work, you've got four of them already: Shakespeare, Austen, Dickens and Verdi are all right. I'll tally up all the XP points at the end. | 2010-10-24 12:56:00 Author: SalieriAAX Posts: 421 |
1. 2.Mozart 3 4 5 6. 7 8 9.Igor Stravinsky 10 | 2010-10-24 15:12:00 Author: Balgarino Posts: 377 |
Hey Balgarino: I can tell you that none of them is beethoven,... | 2010-10-24 15:38:00 Author: Arrestor Posts: 363 |
Yeah,I just tried to guess without playing the level...and without reading that Silly me... | 2010-10-24 15:39:00 Author: Balgarino Posts: 377 |
3. Carl Phillip Emanuel Bach 8. karl jenkis Idk this is tough D: | 2010-10-24 17:11:00 Author: ode1234 Posts: 59 |
I'm afraid Balgarino and ode are both icorrect on all counts. You would be forgiven for mistaking 2 for Bach, but 3 is definitely later. It's all in the length of the wigs, see? EDIT: I was thinking of JS Bach with the comment regarding the wig - however number 3 is still later than CPE. | 2010-10-24 17:45:00 Author: SalieriAAX Posts: 421 |
2.Antonio Vivaldi? | 2010-10-24 18:05:00 Author: Balgarino Posts: 377 |
Well, Vivaldi is a very good guess, and my particular choice has probably less of an international reputation. You might want to take my british bias into account with a couple of them... | 2010-10-24 18:12:00 Author: SalieriAAX Posts: 421 |
2. Ignaz Moscheles | 2010-10-24 20:22:00 Author: Silver39 Posts: 1703 |
Shoot i actually debated on 2-3 being bach but i had to go and choose 3 >.> | 2010-10-24 21:45:00 Author: ode1234 Posts: 59 |
10 is madame roland or marie antonette 9 is charlie chapman | 2010-10-24 22:59:00 Author: Random Posts: 673 |
Oh dear, perhaps they are a little bit tough. I would have thought the guy in the cream suit with the mad hair would have been easy since so many of you guys are from the US. Unfortunately Ignaz Moscheles, Madame Roland, Marie Antoinette and Charlie Chaplin (I think you meant Chaplin - right?) are all incorrect. I'm also quite surprised that Arrestor managed to get Verdi without getting number 9... | 2010-10-25 09:23:00 Author: SalieriAAX Posts: 421 |
Then nr. 9 has to be Giacomo Puccini! | 2010-10-25 20:44:00 Author: Arrestor Posts: 363 |
Too good! Arrestor is going to ride off with all of the points at this rate... | 2010-10-25 23:40:00 Author: SalieriAAX Posts: 421 |
Yeah, unfortunately for some of us in the U.S. or other parts of the world (Not Europe) we're somewhat at a loss. | 2010-10-25 23:47:00 Author: Silver39 Posts: 1703 |
There is an American in the selection. Also, even though most of them may be from Europe, the majority have international reputations. I can't be held responsibe for the fact that the U.S. doesn't offer an equivalent to Shakespeare or Verdi... However, if I get around to doing other rounds, like 'Politics and World Leaders' then the U.S. might get a better showing. | 2010-10-25 23:55:00 Author: SalieriAAX Posts: 421 |
4. Jane Austen (Arrestor) 6. Giuseppe Verdi (Arrestor) 9. Giacomo Puccini (Arrestor) I know it's probably because I'm an idiot but I have never heard of these guys in any of my History classes. And I kinda doubt that these people have that much international influence. About the politics characters, now that I won't need Wikipedia for. | 2010-10-26 00:03:00 Author: Silver39 Posts: 1703 |
I know it's probably because I'm an idiot but I have never heard of these guys in any of my History classes. And I kinda doubt that these people have that much international influence. About the politics characters, now that I won't need Wikipedia for. Well, you probably won't have heard about them in History, but you might have in English or Music classes. You may not go to opera but you'll have heard Verdi's and Puccini's melodies thousands of times on the radio, in films, in adverts... As for Jane Austen, there have been numerous Oscar-winning movies of her books made in Hollywood, that's aside from her reputation as a classic novellist, that makes her pretty mainstream. | 2010-10-26 00:15:00 Author: SalieriAAX Posts: 421 |
10. agatha christie 3.joquin des prez? 2.bach? | 2010-10-28 23:57:00 Author: unXpectiD Posts: 1132 |
Whoop whoop! I thoguht the thread had died. 10. YES! 3. I would like to say this is close but you're about 300 years out... 2. Very close... bang on period-wise. This guy is a contemporary of Bach, less famous, but he wore bigger wigs. Also, it seems no 3 is proving far more difficult than it ought to be. It may be that the colour of the clothing is a bit of a red herring to stop it from beeing too easy. | 2010-10-29 10:02:00 Author: SalieriAAX Posts: 421 |
2.handel? as for three i will assume he is from the early 17th centuary. putting him as a figure from the transition into the classical period. and seeing as he cannot be saileri he is probably christoph willibald gluck | 2010-10-29 10:44:00 Author: unXpectiD Posts: 1132 |
Hey S! I'm terrible with historical figures, but I thought I'd let you know that someone's used some of these characters in a level called "Forgotten Fields". | 2010-10-29 10:46:00 Author: Fastbro Posts: 1277 |
7. r.l.stevenson 8.most likely a composer from the early 20th centuary so sibelius? | 2010-10-29 10:55:00 Author: unXpectiD Posts: 1132 |
No. 2 is indeed G F Handel. Good stuff. Unfortunately, your other guesses are incorrect so far, though your period is right for 8. And 3 is certainly a contemporary of Salieri... | 2010-10-29 14:10:00 Author: SalieriAAX Posts: 421 |
Is 3 Pasquale Anfossi and 7 Paolo Mantegazza? | 2010-10-29 14:32:00 Author: RoxasSora358 Posts: 150 |
I'm afraid not. You're very close in terms of period though. As a bit of a hint, I can tell you that all of the Italian names in the list have been identified already. I literally can't believe the American one hasn't been guessed yet... | 2010-10-29 15:38:00 Author: SalieriAAX Posts: 421 |
7.Henry Wellington Greatorex? (i put this because it pops up every search i do.) | 2010-10-29 15:42:00 Author: RoxasSora358 Posts: 150 |
One of them is Albert Einstein! Am i right? And isn't one Mozart too? | 2010-10-29 17:04:00 Author: EdwardTen Posts: 43 |
Hi EdwardTen, You'll have to give numbers with your guesses for them to count. I'm sorry I forgot to include them in the actual level but the numbers I have used in this thread correspond to the characters in the level running left to right. Sorry Roxas, not Greatorex. Apparently there's no visual record of what Greatorex looked like anyway. | 2010-10-29 17:30:00 Author: SalieriAAX Posts: 421 |

I'm gonna give up in a minute cos i am bored lol Phew! Finally someone realised. Obviously I had to dress him a bit differently from my avatar or it would have been too easy ^_^ 7 is the only one left unidentified now. | 2010-10-29 17:44:00 Author: SalieriAAX Posts: 421 |
could 7 be mark twain? | 2010-10-29 17:51:00 Author: unXpectiD Posts: 1132 |
could 7 be mark twain? Spot on! And that's the last one, so this competition is now officially closed. Thanks for taking part everyone. Now then... does anyone know how to send XP? | 2010-10-29 17:53:00 Author: SalieriAAX Posts: 421 |
go to "market" and then "donate xp" for the best value give each person their xp in one go. so thats 100xp for Arrestor 80xp for me(unXpectiD) 20xp for RoxasSora358 | 2010-10-29 18:07:00 Author: unXpectiD Posts: 1132 |

Hey nice showcase Dr Eggman! Do you mind if I use some of them in my next level? bacause that would be really cool (They wouldn't be the actual people though if you know what I mean) | 2010-11-11 21:56:00 Author: LiamTheKiwi Posts: 153 |
Hey Davidhow, sorry for my slow response. Anyway, yes, go ahead and use them, that's what they're there for. | 2010-11-16 17:15:00 Author: SalieriAAX Posts: 421 |
