well this question is a bit vague. this quickest way to kill somone is just blowing them to bits with a rocket. But the best way to kill somone is Assault rifle and melee. Or BR headshots. plasma pistols could hurt somone too. One big shot they have no shields just need 1 BR burst or 5 Assault rifle shots or a melee and there dead

Back of a gun to the back of a head. Need I say more? Actually, just remember that weapons in Halo 3 are very balanced. They are better under certain situations and weaker in others, but overall they come out with the same results. There's not any "better" answer across the board, because...it doesn't work that way. There are no clearly superior weapons for every category. They all have their specialties and purposes, and can be superior in their own circumstances. Sniper rifle is one headshot, one kill at long ranges. But up close, you might as well be using a Spartan Laser. (Which fits into the same category, coincidentally.) Rocket launcher may blow them to bits, but it's slow moving and slow reloading, so if you miss or they dodge, it'll be a while, yet. SMG can lay it down quick and dirty from a close range, and keep it up constantly to exploit opportunities as possible, but it takes time and consistency on the target to take them out. Shotgun may be vicious from three feet, but take a few steps back, and you start just pumping it as quickly as possible to little avail. Assault rifle is balanced in most categories, but its range isn't great, and it's not as good up close as an SMG. It has decent enough damage, but the mag isn't particularly large and reloading isn't fast as it might be. The battle rifle is great a mid to longer-range, but you can't pump it out, you have to aim and fire deliberately. Which means that you're not going to be hitting as quickly as you'll need up close. Plasma pistol can knock out the shields, but it takes some time to follow up which could lose you the kill, and its rapid fire isn't strong to boot. Grenades take time to explode and skill to deploy. And I just realized I'm rambling. But I'll leave it at that.

Quickest way to kill someone in Halo 3? Put me on the other team. BOOM, HEADSHOT! Nah, I'm kidding, I'd more likely sticky grenade my own team mate by accident. I am pretty handy with a sniper rifle though, so I'd go with that.

If you have "teh l337 skillz" then I would also recommend Laser. Its awesome to laser someone in mid-air. Overall, best weapons: Sniper (people with very good aim can use this at close range.) Sp'laser. Battle Rifle. Shotgun. Use these, and Sticky Grenades.
