Indiana Jones...?

What ever happened to this (http://www.gametrailers.com/game/2609.html) game? It was looking really good, then it just disappeared off the face of the earth... Anyone got any news on it?2008-10-29 12:27:00

Thats a good point. You would have thought it would have been released with the film. It had a natty little AI engine for the way enemies reacted as i remember.2008-10-29 12:55:00

Back in 2006 LucasArts released a YouTube - E3 2006- Indian Jones Trailer ScrewAttack.com at E3 showing their new indiana jones game and their new gaming engine (which is the same one from Star Wars: The Force Unleashed). Everyone got excited about it.
Fastforward 2 years and LucasArts was in the middle of laying off the majority of its employees and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed was soon to release. No news had been heard since E3 2006 but Indiana Jones was abuzz around the world with Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (the fourth installment of the Indiana Jones film series by LucasFilm) having been released in cinemas and TT Games releasing their Lego game take on the original Indiana Jones film trilogy (which I recommend people buy).

Everyone was wondering what had happen to this Indiana Jones game, dubbed by fans as Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings. All that was known was taken from the old E3 2006 trailer. The Indiana Jones game would be (at one point) in San Francisco at the time when the Golden Gate bridge was being built in 1937 (however many people believe that the game is set in 1939 which makes the game historically incorrect) and that George Lucas was writing the story.

Almost everyone believed the game had been abandoned until several weeks ago when a few screenshots (http://goneisgone.blogspot.com/2008/10/indiana-jones-and-staff-of-kings.html) were leaked onto the internet and a word of confirmation that the game was still in development.

Fiction writer Rob Macgregor, author of many of the Indiana Jones novels, was asked questions about his new Indiana Jones book he was writing. MacGregor revealed that the novel had a some-time-in-2009 release date and that the videogame (based on the same story as the novel) would be released alongside the book.

There were rumours that a Nintendo DS version was to release in October 2008 but they are hardly true seeing as it is practically November.

Reasons (I and many others think) for the postponement of the Indiana Jones videogame is that because of the large amount of LucasArts employee layoffs and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed the game was put on hold.

This is all the information I have to date.

cheers,

mutt

here is some info from the lucasarts website (http://www.lucasarts.com/games/indianajones/gameinfo/news/summary.html).

Indiana Jones
Indiana Jones returns for his most incredible interactive expedition ever. Set in 1939, this epic, original story puts YOU in the fedora of the legendary adventure hero as he unravels the clues found in ancient artifacts spanning the globe. From San Francisco's Chinatown to the world's most sacred ground, Indy must use his fists, whip and wits to fight through ruthless opposition and piece together a mystery of biblical proportions.

Indiana Jones also features completely interactive environments, where players need to call upon their wits and daring to make each spring-loaded environment a weapon in order to dispense of foes in clever and unexpected ways. Also, embark upon thrilling action sequences that remain true to the spirit established in scenes such as Indy's pursuit of the motorcade in Raiders of the Lost Ark, the mine-cart scene in The Temple of Doom, and the free-for-all aboard the tank in The Last Crusade. Face Indy off against a devious longtime rival, reunite him with old friends, and meet more of his most trusted allies throughout the world.

beig able to play the old chase scenes from the original trilogy sounds realy awesome! i remember someone telling me this wasn't happening seeing as I think this page hasn't been updated in a while.
