Queen Chumbwee's Lost RubyKamari07
There is a panic amongst the Chumbwees. It seems that Queen Chumbwee's precious ruby is lost. Try and search for her ruby so that she can be happy once again.

I really love the simplicity at the start of the level, it gives a very ethnic and calming effect plus a striking beauty that sets up the rest of the level. It would be cool if the green blocks with eyes that you jump on to avoid the gas moved back and forth to add a bit more fun. The snow fall effect is awesome but maybe have it so that it doesn't lie on the ground also try and space them so they fall in the shape of snow flakes. The music reflects the underwater boat really well but I would streamline it so you have to go through the boat to get to the next part of the level. Overall, a very stylish level that has a great feel to it and a relaxing tempo, 7/10.2010-10-20 06:40:00

Thank you for your comment, it's very much appreciated. I was thinking of making the Junior Chumbwees move at the start of the level, but I just didn't know how to go about it the right way. I also understand about your snowflake comment, I will keep that in mind next time I put snow in a level. It was my first time playing with snow, so now I know what to do and how to refine it. You know, I didn't think about that at all, that I could make you have to go through the ship to get to the next part of the level. If I would have thought about that, I totally would have done that. I'm glad that I did the music correctly so that it was relaxing for you. I didn't know what to do with the music for a good long time, but I'm pretty happy with how it came out. Again, thanks for the comment and the play. It means a lot. 2010-10-22 06:46:00

No probs. With so many people trying to get feedback the lesser known planeteers like us usually get left behind so it's good to stick together.2010-10-22 09:03:00

I really like the design of the trees - they are simple but elegant and suit the style of the game very well.

I also agree that the junior chumbawees could move. Perhaps attach them to moving pistons and then adjust the sync to allow them to move in a wave motion. If it were slow enough it would fit the laid back atmosphere of the level.

The snow is great. You could try reducing the lifetime or emitting the snow higher so it disappears as it hits the ground. It ought to be possible to make continuous by emitting more than one at a time and adjusting the frequency at which they are emitted. That would just be icing on the cake though, the mountain top is very good.

I also like the boat scene in context of searching for the ruby. Maybe before you get in the water a chumbawee could suggest you search there for it.

Thanks sparkle80 for the comment. I'm going to soon change the snow, and make the Junior Chumbawees move in the gas at the beginning of the level. I actually never "synced" anything before, so I don't know how that works. I'll fiddle around with it, and see what that's all about.2010-10-22 23:27:00

I have only used the sync option briefly but it is very effective.

The sync time tells you how much earlier than usual each piston starts it's cycle. So if the piston time is set to 4s then try setting the sync to 0, 1, 2, 3 or 0, 0.5, 1, 1.5 and see what happens.

I agree with the elegance of that post...."relaxing tempo" is a perfect way to describe it. A cute elementary feel to it. My daughter and I enjoyed it!2010-10-23 04:06:00

I'm glad you and your daughter enjoyed my level Quazau. Very nice to hear.

I updated my level, thanks to the advice given in this thread. It makes a difference, and I'm even more happier with my level now. I made the Junior Chumbwees move at the beginning of the level, and I also made the snow dissolve right when it hits the ground. Syncing is pretty awesome as well. It not only worked on the Junior Chumbwees, but on the snow too. I was thinking about making it to where you have to go through the ship to get to the next part of the level, but it would be too time consuming. I would have to adjust the level to account for the higher water level and stuff. Plus, when you do too much in LBP, things seem to come unglued and fall apart. So, yeah, I have to thank you guys for giving me some advice on how to better my level, cause it taught me something new and it made my level better.

Feedback:

Positives:
+Liked the Chumblewee Characters
+The snow scenary at the top looked pretty good

Negatives:
-Most of the shapes had a blocky look to them and could look really well with corner editing
-Trees in the beginning looked kind of off thought it could of been done a little bit better(minor)

Sugguestions:
-The level could use some more decorations/Stickers to bring the level out more
-More obstacles or something challenging so if its the ruby the player is looking for have him go through somewhat of trouble or challenge to get it
-for the mountain cliff you run up on its too smooth, maybe make it look bumpy like you climbing up a real mountain
-The way I see it you didnt really have to use any water in the level, but if its for visuals then maybe add a background like (The Temples or Monsters Cave) and just add more decorations as you go. The empty background make the level looked kind of plain so giving it one will bring ou the level more.

Overall majority of the level looks as if you could of used just 2 layers because sometimes using 3 layers can make the level feel empty if theres things missing.. but it was still worth playing and I enjoyed it::star::star::star:
