Oh my, you spotlighters are too kind! No seriously, why are you so kind?

Also, have you ever had to play like tons of levels at the last minute? D:

Woah, Mark was a Spotlighteer? Muist have just been for only one spotlight, two at the most, cause I don't remember that at all XD. I just remember the Spotlight being a thing and an imagined war in my mind between old LBPC and new LBPC...

... wait, this isn't the thread of reminiscence? I see.

anywho, are you all legally insane to be doing this? I dare say you must be.

I'm from the midwest - I can't help it.

Also, have you ever had to play like tons of levels at the last minute? D:

Um - ya. Happens sometimes. Especially when there are a ton of levels that get posted on the Monday - Wednesday before spotlight. Although before we put the cut off on Wednesday I was playing levels posted on Friday mornings for the spotlight that night/Saturday morning.... ahhh, the good old days of no sleep.

anywho, are you all legally insane to be doing this? I dare say you must be.

The answer to that is between me and my imaginary friends and they aren't talking..... not anymore.

We have a kindness machine that we have to turn on every fortnight. Otherwise we all end up like GruntosUK... er... I mean... *cough*... uh... LOOKASQUIRREL!

Also, have you ever had to play like tons of levels at the last minute? D:
In the five episodes I've been here, we've had to do that about five times. But last minute isn't like the literal last minute before the spotlight is posted. After our cutoff at midnight on Wednesday (kinda like Cinderella!), usually a day or two passes so we can put up the private version of the episode thread and our reviews and stuff. I guess a lot of time it feels last minute, but it kinda isn't at the same time. But it sounds like Morgana has had closer calls than I have.

Now I have a question for you: are you also a turchicat (turtle/chicken/cat), or are you dressing up as me, or have you always been my long lost Sackbrother?

Well, it's definitely a war. Remember The Legend of the Spotlight?

No. It isn't. That's elsewhere...

NO. I think we should all be brutally murdered for it.
Wait... do you mean the creators of the levels? In that case... they should be baked... and then there will be cake.

Once I played about 55-60 levels (that was Spotlight 49). And Tan played more than I did! To give you an idea of what that means, 30 is a good average for all the levels to get done.

Wow i bet its hard work being a Spotlight crew member and you guys are doing it all for free, that's awesome!

I would ask to be in the PSP spotlight crew but I'm just not that good at reviewing levels and there's a whole lot of time put in i bet.
Ill stick with just running my small contest on the PSP side that's more than enough for me lol.

I'm not sure if i have any questions but i do want to thank the spotlight crew for there great work and time put in and AFPOO and Taffey for the PSP Creator spotlight.

AH yes i have a question for ya PSP spotlighters now, When One of the spotlight crew publish a level worth a spotlight do you keep it a secret from them to surprise them?

(not like its a surprise because they are all great creators)

anywho, are you all legally insane to be doing this?Heavens no. If we were crazy, that would mean this fire extinguisher I have duct taped to my shin would be pointless. In fact, just the other day I was chatting with one of my sock puppets while at work, and he was completely insulted that people were saying insensitive things like he's "not real" and that "it's just your hand with some glued on buttons". The NERVE. They're the insane ones!

Yeah, sure, and next you're going to tell me that macaroni and cheese is NOT the amassed cocoons of tiny, metamorphosized string cheese caterpillars after they've become beautiful cheddar-winged fairies with sachels of magic powdered cheese dust. If I didn't believe THAT, only then would I be crazy.

Wow i bet its hard work being a Spotlight crew member and you guys are doing it all for free, that's awesome! If by "free" you mean "playing hundreds of incredible free levels and being a part of one of the best online communities of all time" then yes, we do it for free.

I'm not sure if i have any questions but i do want to thank the spotlight crew for there great work and time put in Thanks Sketch! It's comments like this that make it all worthwhile, and I really mean that.

AH yes i have a question for ya PSP spotlighters now, When One of the spotlight crew publish a level worth a spotlight do you keep it a secret from them to surprise them?Usually it's a ransom situation. When Salieri published Crisis in Camelot, for example, the rest of us PSP Spotlighters received anonymous, ticking packages on our front doorsteps. Salieri followed that up with a quick but friendly note I'll paraphrase as "My level is to be spotlit or I'll detonate the stale tins of cat food I've mailed to each of you". Naturally, because I don't want to go through that whole debacle again, I complied and gave a thumbs-up.

To answer your question more seriously, however, every level is considered equally - even those made by fellow Spotlight crew members. We really put them through the wringer, and of the author of the level is placed under a strict no-touchy rule when it comes to the verdict posting process. Every single level that makes the Spotlight has earned its spot through a process of much scrutiny, especially those made by our own crew.

Give Taffey a little while. I'm sure he'll find cake. He's sort of the unofficial/official Spotlight caterer. Indeed!

I think I still have some leftovers from our Spotlight crew party official and completely serious meeting from last week.

Why do only some of you leave feedback about a level when its spotlighted? Do you all agree on who gets to say something about the level or is it certain people each time.

And I usually play all the levels actually in the spotlight last minute, in order to refresh my memory when I leave comments etc.

What is the maximum number of levels ever played (by you guys) in one of the 2 week spotlight periods?
Well.. I'm pretty new to the team, and I'm just trying to get adjusted at the moment, so the most I've played is about 20 in one night.

AH yes i have a question for ya PSP spotlighters now, When One of the spotlight crew publish a level worth a spotlight do you keep it a secret from them to surprise them?

I'm not a PSP spotlighter, but surprisingly(?): No, we don't. (At least on the PS3 team ). We have a large private spreadsheet of all levels posted in the level showcase, in which we leave our comments and our opinion on whether it desevres a spotlight or not.

They're the only ones I could be bothered to answer. (I'm a lazy sod. )
So yeah, thanks a lot guys, I'll answer some more later. I don't want to steal too many questions from other people.

It's a combination between whether that level has enough comments already and whether the commenter in question likes that level as much as another member who could write something nicer, or more constructive.

That's not to say when people don't comment on particular level entries, that means its criticism by exception or anything, the biggest factor is the number of existing comments.

Also, not everyone plays all the levels, it can be a massive workload and we share it out, so those levels that we happen to have played, we normally jump on those comments before the others get a chance to replay all the 'yes's.

I have a couple of questions for you

Have you ever had so many great levels at a time that you felt sad for some levels that couldn't make the spotlight although they might also have been awesome?

Has the amount of levels to play dropped now that the beta has started? (I'm too lazy to check myself )

Does it feel weird that the mods steal all the thanks that you get, just by posting all your hard work?

Can't think of any more questions... I just want to say one more thing: A big thank you for doing these spotlights, this is one of the best things about LBPC and really makes this community what it is. Why do only some of you leave feedback about a level when its spotlighted? Do you all agree on who gets to say something about the level or is it certain people each time.

Ya, it's pretty much what Asbestos said. Sometimes people don't have the time to add a comment, or didn't play that particular level and therefore can't comment on it. Just to avoid confusion on this, every level is played by the crew but each crew member doesn't play every level. It's just too much time. There needs to be a general consensus on a level from the group to include it in the spotlight though, or someone who feels really strongly about a levels inclusion. It usually is an easy call for 95% of the levels that are eligible and the ones that are ify usually get talked about and played by almost the whole crew to make that decision.

I think I recall you saying it was around the 170 mark, actually!!! YIKES!!!

*begins rocking slowly back and forth* Ya.... I remember that one now.

I have a question... does playing so many awesome levels - and so frequently - increase your desire to create, or diminish it?

I'd say it increases the desire and diminishes the time you can create. It's a strange situation. Because you see so much stuff and different ways of making stuff happen or visual styles, it really can inspire ideas for your own work. Once and a while a level would come out and I'd feel like, ya, I need to explore how that was done and it would lead to another technique or puzzle while I was working out how the original was made. I think one of the hardest parts of spotlighting is learning how to balance your time between getting your spotlight work done but still finding time to make your own stuff. It's hard when all you want to do is go finish something on your level but you have a playlist that needs attention.

Also, have you noticed any particular creative trends in the spotlights? For example, obviously there was massive numbers of water levels when water came out, but has there been anything else of note?

Windmills, Caves, Temples, Floating Cities, there are a bunch of levels that have similar themes that we've spotlighted. I think it's just natural when a creator does something original and amazing that other creators take inspiration from it and do their own thing but in the same kind of subject matter as the original. I have noticed a lot more creators using "real physics" based platforming lately in their work and I think we can thank lockstich for that. Hard to say what the next trend will be. We'll need to keep an eye out for the next trendsetter

Have you ever had so many great levels at a time that you felt sad for some levels that couldn't make the spotlight although they might also have been awesome?

There is no minimum or maximum number of levels for spotlight. If it's awesome - it's in.

Has the amount of levels to play dropped now that the beta has started? (I'm too lazy to check myself )

I'm not sure - I would guess so. I'll let one of the active guys handle this one.

Does it feel weird that the mods steal all the thanks that you get, just by posting all your hard work?

They work hard too. It's not easy being blue.

No seriously, i was wondering hhow you fit level playing into your daily lives or do you just sneak a couple of thousand levels at night???

I used to come home from work, eat dinner, start playing at 7pm and play levels until 2-3am.... every night for the most part. Weekends were 2pm ish until 3-4am usually. Then taking pictures, uploading pics, maintaining the tables, doing write ups, bugging the rest of the crew with reminders... ya, it takes a lot of time and commitment. It becomes like a part time job after awhile, at least it did for me.

How often is it that a crew member leaves the team or 'retires'?

Depends on the person. I think Coxy and I have the longest runs at about a year and half and the shortest run was rtm - he got a better offer So ya, for a long time the crew was pretty much the same guys. Lately it's been turning over a bit more. I think the sheer number of work burns out people faster now.

On my very brief stint on Spotlight 46 I got through 70 levels, which was pretty painful. To clarify, the painful part is trying to find them via LBP's search engine, particularly when the showcase poster has neglected to include their PSN username.

Hopefully, once lbp.me is live, this process should be a lot easier.

Why do only some of you leave feedback about a level when its spotlighted?

I know this is a big thing for the community - particularly in Spotlight 50 where the minimum number of comments is 1 and the most is 5. It can seem as though we favour some levels over others, but it isn't like that at all - each spotlighted level is usually only played by half the crew, and of them, some might be busy some days and others might be overactive, writing hundreds of comments on all the levels they've played (like me - that's my favourite part of the job). it'd be impossible to regulate the number of comments per level because in many cases we can't think what to write ... would you believe it, seeing how I'm ranting on now . Just rest assured that if your level is included, at least half of us think it's awesome.

Does it feel weird that the mods steal all the thanks that you get, just by posting all your hard work?

Thanks for bringing this up! I s'pose it would be nice to receive some thanks for posting the spotlight, but it wouldn't be distributed fairly - one crew member would be heaped with thanks and the rest would just look on jealously. Getting a mod to do it makes it look much more official and impartial. (although we all love a bit of rep, don't we? )

I think I recall you saying it was around the 170 mark, actually!!! YIKES!!!

I believe it! For the couple months that I was on the crew there were at least a few times when I had about 6 pages of levels printed out. What I would do was copy and paste levels into MS Word, leaving about 3 or 4 spaces between each level so I could leave my comments. I'd print them out and take them to the PS3, that way I didn't have to constantly go back and forth. But yeah, I think 6 pages of levels was the most I ever did at one time. That's probably about 120 or so. I'd spend most of my day on Wednesdays playing levels.

I have a question... does playing so many awesome levels - and so frequently - increase your desire to create, or diminish it?

Also, have you noticed any particular creative trends in the spotlights? For example, obviously there was massive numbers of water levels when water came out, but has there been anything else of note?

For me, I'd say playing tons of levels diminished my desire to create. When you work full time and are married, it was tough enough to find time to test levels. There simply wasn't enough time to even begin to create. So the less I was in create mode, the less desire I had for it. But on the flip side, when I create levels, I tend to not play other people's levels, unless of course they ask me to, or if I found out a friend published one.

Creative trends? Yep! It's subtle, but I remember once someone published a level that simulated wind, then it seemed like more and more creators jumped on that. Also, the layer glitch was a definite trend that took off and now is almost standard. But for the most part, creators tended to have their own style.

Why do only some of you leave feedback about a level when its spotlighted? Do you all agree on who gets to say something about the level or is it certain people each time.

Someone already fielded this question, but I would like to add that there is the rare occasion where the crew disagrees on whether a level should be spotlighted or not. I remember a couple that we would debate for a while. But if someone feels really strongly about it, we would include it, but it may only have a comment or two.

I have a couple of questions for you Have you ever had so many great levels at a time that you felt sad for some levels that couldn't make the spotlight although they might also have been awesome?

Nope! I always figured the more the merrier

How often is it that a crew member leaves the team or 'retires'?

It seemed to happen a lot, and then it happened to me! Morgana is right though - with the sheer amount of levels that are pumped out, if you don't have a lot of free time, it's easy to get burned out. Also, in case you were wondering, the people I've seen that have left, including myself, left on very good terms.

I don't think we actually limit the number of levels in the Spotlight. If all 150+ levels in a list were Spotlight material (heaven forbid), we'd put 'em all in! Actually, probably not. But there's really not a limit, so we don't have to be sad!

Has the amount of levels to play dropped now that the beta has started? (I'm too lazy to check myself )
No. Largely due to MofoSuperVillain's appearance...

Does it feel weird that the mods steal all the thanks that you get, just by posting all your hard work?
I never really thought about it, but nah, not for the Spotlight. We're all a team! As for The Legend of the Spotlight, I was actually pretty excited that they were thanking Aya (I don't really know why)... and I was mostly just psyched at all the positive feedback and *real* thanks! It was a blast to write and I loved hearing that it made people's days!

Can't think of any more questions... I just want to say one more thing: A big thank you for doing these spotlights, this is one of the best things about LBPC and really makes this community what it is. The amount of work you put into this is just incredible, you should all get cookies for this (not a cake, the cake is a lie... cookies are equally awesome) Thanks so much! And I quite agree on the baked goods, my friend. I quite agree. Plus, Taffey hasn't eaten all the cookies yet...

but seriously could you slip me a super secret slice of virtual cake?? ta!!!
If only Taffey hadn't eaten it... and if only it wasn't a lie...

No seriously, i was wondering hhow you fit level playing into your daily lives or do you just sneak a couple of thousand levels at night???
It kinda depends. I have an army of ninja chipmunks (NOT SQUIRRELS) that play the levels for me. I pay them in mixed nuts. However, as chipmunks are HIGHLY ADD, I often have to play the levels for them. When I do so, it's normally in large bursts of 20-30 levels (which takes a fairly long time... try it someday!). Gotta fits stuff around my college classes and my super-long sleep schedule (it's absolutely necessary that turchicats get 10 hours of sleep per night)!

How often is it that a crew member leaves the team or 'retires'?
Every time I try talking to someone, they leave! Then I go away for a few hours and come back and they're back! I swear, it's a conspiracy!

No, really, actually it's fairly often. I haven't been here particularly long, and... what, three people have retired? But some of them actually faked their retirements and as we were all mourning at their... uh... funeral... they returned! So we had a net loss of about one Spotlighter. Also, there's another who has probably been captured by evil lemurs... we haven't seen him in a while...

Can I have some cake?
Maybe. First, take this portal gun...

Actually I'm dressing up as UltimateClay for Halloween. So if you're looking for your long lost Sackbrother go to him. If you do go to him, tell him to give my dress back, he never gave it back!

How do you decide what levels get the nod, and what levels get the full spotlight? I know you get a ton of questions, but if you can tackle 100 levels in a week!2010-10-21 03:24:00

Generally "nods" are levels that some people vote "yes" and some people vote "nod" or "no." That is, it's a good enough level that some of us think it's awesome, but some others don't like it as much for some reason or other. THAT, or it's a level that's very close to a yes, but has a few issues that take it down a bit.

EDIT: The two answers after me make me seem like a cruel dictator bent on taking all the happiness out of the world. Which is partly true. But I still love you all!

If I may, a "nod" was something that came about because we started noticing certain things in a level that were amazing, but the level itself wasn't quite up to par. Maybe someone had a really great contraption, but could use some help with level design... why not applaud their efforts in hopes that they will continue to grow as creators? The nods are not the "almost made it into the spotlight" levels. They're simply levels that had something in them that made us go, "oh hey, that's really cool!"

On a serious note, what was probably the most stressful and hair pulling event that has happened to the Spotlight Crew?

When I came on things were pretty tense because there was a lot of back lash about how the spotlight actually worked. Every once in a while this issue rears its head and I would imagine that's the most stressful event that could happen. It only makes the team feel offended because of the time they put in, only to get criticism after a job well done. Other stressful moments depend on timing and bad luck. Sometimes a couple crew members are on vacation or sick at the same time, so the others have to pick up the slack.

But for me personally, when I was a spotlighter, the most stressful moments were Wednesday afternoons. I knew about when my wife would be home from work so I would try to get all my levels played before she would come home, that way I could spend time with her. But with so many levels to play, it was almost impossible to finish up in one day. Some of you may not understand or relate to that, but look at it this way, guys like TheAdipose had it easy because his wife played LBP with him! I was not so lucky

When the table for Episode 46 completely glitched and I had to come in halfway through the cycle and try and piece stuff together.

No, that's just what we wanted you to believe Holguin. rtm was punished for his indiscretions by having his user name turned the color of an Oreo package (http://usedwigs.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/oreo.jpg). CC understood that rtm should "be made blue" and so turned him into a mod, thus foiling my well-laid plans to conquer the Imagisphere with Oreos.

Hello long lost brother :kz:
HELLO!

So heres my question. Peanut butter or jelly?
Can't I have both? *Whimper* But I think it'd have to be peanut butter... super crunchy peanut butter.

On a serious note, what was probably the most stressful and hair pulling event that has happened to the Spotlight Crew?
That question you just asked me about peanut butter and jelly.

Nah, actually Spotlight 49! Just about everyone (but a few of us) was busy or incapacitated and so it was just me and one or two others the last week, and largely just me over the weekend to finish up. I did a bunch of stuff and it was crazy! But they all came back afterwards and it was all very joyous.

I have a question for the spotlight crew... Why Schoolgirl23? (If I can ask myself too!)
I think you can ask yourself. Otherwise you'd have to ask Keldur, but he's currently being held hostage by evil lemurs, remember? You may never know the answer... BWAH-HA-HA-HA-HA!!!

Every single day I visit Keldur in Spain for breakfast, Morgana in the midwest for second breakfast, Tan in Montana (I decided he lives there because that's his name... not because he actually lives there) for elevensies, then all the peoples in the UK for lunch, Joey on the moon for dinner, the rest of the people in the US for second dinner, and back home to Texas for the midnight snack!

Actually, quite unfortunately, I haven't met any of them. Who knows... maybe in the future...

The worst thing you could probably do to us is kill all our families right in front of us by tickling them to death with a tomahawk. And then kill us too.

Actually... I have to be really careful not to step on any toes with this, lol, but when people don't totally understand what goes on behind the scenes and how difficult the work is, and then act very ungraciously. This is something that bothered me even before I joined the spotlight. And not that people can't offer constructive criticism, not at all! That's welcome! For example, Blackhawk very graciously PMed me about some grammatical/style mistakes I had made in an episode. But it's when people get all at each other's throats (us included) that I think really bothers me the most. We're a team and LBPC is all about community and teamwork!

Just people asking and bribing to put their level in the spotlight. Jheeze, that nearly never works

Cat. Dogs just leave hair everywhere... more so than cats. Also whereas dogs are clever enough to understand our commands, cats are even more clever to ignore them

On the PSP side we've not had anything really strong argument-wise, it's more like a kind discussion. With mallets. And a mace.

Well, if two or more people want it in, then generally it goes in, people that disagree will then in turn neglect to add a comment to it

(If that raises any more questions, look a few pages back as to why some levels have more comments than others )

Well, I went out of my way to PM confused cartman when the spotlight crew had members retiring around the episode 40 point.

The left me hanging in the dark for ages before Morgy sent a response offering me a place! I poked my head back through the general discussion thread in the spotlight vault, and they had deliberated over letting me in or not, and they actually had decided not to! Only when a member left did they remember that they left me without an answer, so then they reconsidered and let me in.

I've been around since then, so i've only been around for that long.

Rhyas and tanrock are the new newbies though, so we get to beat up on them.

Those times CC left me hanging by my underwear on a clothes peg in the vaults locker room have long since passed.

I am a ninja. I am hidden in the shadows. I am everyone's best nightmare, a turtle, a chicken, and a cat, ALL IN ONE. I am... a turchicat.

While all of this is true, I'm also a college junior in Dallas, Texas. I'm studying computer science and business management! I love, love, love creating things. For example, I started writing fantasy novels when I was eight years old, and I'm working on two currently! In an effort to merge the greatness and creativity of fantasy worlds with the emotion and characters of a good story and video games, I'm working on a business proposal (as well as game concepts) for my own game company. I think, for me, Little Big Planet is a logical extension of (and practice for) this desire.

What else? I play guitar and sing in my church, but I also play piano and a little drums. As for games (other than the super-awesome LBP), I really love fantasy games like The Elder Scrolls, Legend of Zelda, Myst (and its successors, Riven, Exile, Revelation, and End of Ages), Final Fantasy (even though that's not strictly fantasy), Dragon Warrior/Quest, Dragon Age, and so forth. I'm a fan of Uncharted 1 and 2 and Portal! Hm... OH, I love reading. Lord of the Rings, Narnia, Harry Potter, NeverEnding Story... (can you tell I like fantasy much?)

Hopefully that helps you know me a little better.

I also love reading and writing fantasy - I started a draft at thirteen and my computer crashed and I lost it. I started another one at fifteen but my sister sat on my memory stick. I'm thinking of starting another one now - but I'm not sure what's going to happen to this one! Maybe I'm not meant to write fantasy. Might try my hand at sci-fi instead ...

There's also a few things on the side that might help, such as project management, software development lifecycle experience, and business process design/improvement. Also, I can spell. Oh, and I could take care of the accounting for you as well.

Well, I'll be. You get 7,000 awesome points. And a swordshield. Heh... I'll have to show you my writing sometime, and you'll have to show me yours (if you ever get it going)!

My core set of skills are ability to detect awesomeness, enjoyment of gaming, and the uncanny ability to sniff out onion rings within a 3 mile radius.

There's also a few things on the side that might help, such as project management, software development lifecycle experience, and business process design/improvement. Also, I can spell. Oh, and I could take care of the accounting for you as well.
Goodness... I'd invite you for an interview if I had the company going already! Finding onion rings could be downright useful!

Asking for a spotlight daily would be to much ()
but I'd say nothing. You guys have it well set up and may be the most organized crew I've seen.
hmm...*pokes forum with stick*
I think it's dead!
Yeah. That'd be a bit much. But thanks for all your encouragement and support!

And I like resurrecting dead things.

Yes, you guys are doing a great jon keep up the good work, and have a fun time while youre doing it. because if you don't sackboy might just jump out of your tv and say. * WHY ARENT YOU HAVING FUN! * and then spit on you jk.
I think I'd probably wonder why he hasn't jumped out of my screen earlier. And then give him a hug. And tell him I adore him and will definitely have more fun in the future.

You're the spotlight crew, so i guess someone must have asked this already but i think i should try my luck;

What can a newbie like me do to get a level of his/her spotlighted? Do i need to use the lbpc sticker? How early do you contact the lucky (i wouldn't say that.. Talented sounds more appropriate) creator before the sspotlight to ask him/her the questions and/or shoot a video with them?

i think the answer is obvious though... If the level is good enough it will eventually get spotlighted, right? (im not trying to say mine are, but the future ones might be!)

All you have to do to get your level on our 'To Play' list, is to post it in the Level Showcase, we will then decide if we will put it on the spotlight or not.
I don't quite understand your second question, I think you may be referring to the Creator Spotlight, in which case, they are a different team, so we can't answer questions about that - however, if you were talking about the Level Spotlight (our one), then the answer would be that we don't actually contact the people whose levels are being spotlighted, it's all a surprise! ^_^

I mentioned it a few times earlier: he was captured by evil lemurs.

In reality, none of us can figure out where he went. He was sick for a time, came back to tell us he loved us and would be back soon... and then just... disappeared. We've tried all sorts of things to get in contact with him, and nothing works. It all sounds like a great story, but that's actually what happened, lol (except for the lemurs). But if it IS like the stories, he'll come back just when the hour is most dire. Or something.

Actual question time :O

So I'm working on a big project in LBP2 akin to LBPC: The Game... so would these huge games be able to make it into spotlight since (I hope) there are more of them? Like would they just have one slot or uh yeah.

I believe in the past we've done series as one slot in the spotlight entry, unless, of course, they aren't released all at once. So, assuming it's spotlight material, it should be one slot.

Well, with LBPC: The Game we did a special feature on it, so we could easily do another one.

Three questions...

1 - With a third* of the current PS3 spotlighters being former Survivor: LBP players, and the fact that there are a total of 27 current and former PS3 spotlighters, what are the chances that we'll ever see an all spotlight crew edition of Survivor: LBP?

2 - What sort of set up are you guys playing LBP on? Amazing LCD TVs? Old school CRTs?

3 - Has anyone ever tried to get Spaff, or any other member of the Molecule team to sit in on a spotlight? If not, what do you think are the chances of this happening?

You are a bad person.

Sounds like a lot of organisation, and we struggle to dress ourselves in the morning properly as it is... So I wouldn't hold your breath

2 - What sort of set up are you guys playing LBP on? Amazing LCD TVs? Old school CRTs?
Well...at home, i've got access to a dandy 42" LG screen in my living room, but i'm currently at university so I have to put up with ( LOL ) my 24" samsung 24" P2450 and large hifi speakers.

3 - Has anyone ever tried to get Spaff, or any other member of the Molecule team to sit in on a spotlight? If not, what do you think are the chances of this happening?
I don't think we've tried that, but that's because individual Mm members are notoriously hard to pin down for questioning through fansites. It's not a bad idea though, but it would effort on the part of whoever we choose, so I doubt they'd be up for it until LBP2 is out and they can find time.

Just got a suggestion for the Spotlight Crew for when you guys transfer over to LBP2.

Seeing as how you can put level links into levels now, is there going to be a "Spotlight Level" that has the links to all of the spotlights from the current week? Would make it a lot easier for people find the levels, and they'd all be in one place.

And you could have cool, decorative entrances for each level. And, hopefully, if enough people played it, it could even make it to the cool pages, and LBPC could really gain some notoriety from it...

Well, just a thought. Came to me when Shadowriver posted his "Level Dialer"

It's a good idea, and one we've considered before. I think it's something we all think would be amazing, but unfortunately, I don't think it's going to happen due to time constraints and our busy schedules. Unless we hired like 10 more people.... at any rate, it's a cool idea, and it would be awesome if we could work it out someday. Sadly, I don't think it'll happen.

It's already been suggested, and it's an idea we're seriously looking into. I've made some prototypes on my LBP2 moon (not very good ones), and they would work quite well I would think. The thing is, it's an extra workload for us, and LBPC members in particular can simply add the levels to their queues through the LBP.me links we're going to be including from the release of LBP2 so ...

It's a possibility, but don't bank on it being a reality 100% just yet.

EDIT: Sniped ... darn you and your turchicat's X-ray question-awaiting vision, Ryhas!

Im not sure if this has been asked before but;

You said that you play every single level in the showcase before the spotlight. But, is there a deadline? I mean; what if someone publishes a level slightly before the spotlight, would that level be considered for the next spotlight or is it in the right place in the wrong time(my sentences might be confusing... Im Turk) ?

Wow, old thread = resurrected!

There is a deadline, in fact. Every other Wednesday at midnight (GMT, I think, though that varies). Whichever level we stop at, we pick up with the level right after that. Usually since we publish on Friday/Saturday, there are some levels published after the deadline and before the spotlight. They go into the next spotlight.

Does that answer your question?

Duckywolf,

We do sincerely apologize for the delay. We've had a massive onslaught of levels, as well as some team members leaving (due to school, work, etc.). Therefore, we've had to work out some plans. Currently we're playing through a backlog, and we'll probably be doing so for quite some time. Have no fear, though, any levels you publish and post on LBPC will be played!

Also, Episode 58 should be out soon... I can't give any specific dates, but we're working on it.

Hey, thanks for answer me. You dont have to apologize my friend. I really know is a massive duty ...play every level of the showcase. You do a great job. Thank you very much for doing so and taking the time to do so. I send a big hello and especially many "hurray" to encourage all of you in this difficult journey. XD

We have a recruitment thread (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=34069-Community-Spotlight-Now-Hiring!) on the forums where you can apply for a position on the crew, and this post explains pretty well what we ask of potential candidates. Ideally though, we look for the following:

1. Active posters in the level showcase forums
2. Friendly, outgoing members who are able to use BBCode comfortably and navigate spreadsheets with a little help
3. Members who are able to write decent reviews (they don't have to be award-winning, but giggle-worthy is always good ) on spotlighted levels.

As for what's required, it's a long, drawn out process involving much sleep deprivation and tiresome work, slaving away at a PS3 for literally weeks days hours on end...

Ahem, excuse me. In all seriousness, spotlighting involves, as a team, playing through every level that is posted in the level showcase forum, and reaching a consensus on which levels are the 'cream of the crop'. Beyond that, it's a mostly boring affair of making a pretty thread that is posted once fortnightly for the community to enjoy.

If yourself, or anyone is ever interested in joining, it's always worth popping an application in. We're not actively looking for more members at the moment, but we may well keep your name in mind if we like what we see

Hope this helps!

It has got a bit out of date! I can't edit the OP but here's a list of the currently active Spotlight and Contest Crew members.

LBPC Spotlight Crews

LBP2: • biorogue • L-I-M-I • Mr_Fusion • shropshirelass • WESFUN

LBPV: • Coxy224 • OriginalCreator • VelcroJonze •

LBPK: • fireblitz95 • WESFUN • Wolfdre•

Those dividing lines aren't set in stone, though. Deadmn (OriginalCreator) sometimes helps out with playing LBP2 levels (mostly when we need someone with pro skills,lol...stop grinning, Dead!) and Wolfdre helps occasionally with Vita levels.

stryder12 and valmassoi/anoken are still members of the crew but they're on a break at the moment.

LBPC Contest Crew

• biorogue • Dav1d0 • Missi_Cat • Pookachoo • Shadowriver • shropshirelass • thespacemonkey187
