The (Evil) Castle of the (Evil) Witch Evilline (the Evil)countruby
The (evil) witch Evilline has kidnapped the Princess to extract precious dark matter from her brain! Oh, does she know nothing about Basic Materials? It is up to you to save the Princess and vanquish the (evil) witch in her (evil) castle!
Hello everyone, this is my third published level and the second I've posted here on LBPC.
It stemmed out of nothing, is probably not very challenging but hopefully is a lot of fun and you guys find it funny. I certainly had a blast making it!

It's not incredibly complex, just a simple platforming level. I hope you enjoy.
(A good score is about 2500+ points. Try to beat mine!)
(also, if anyone could tell me how to post screenshots from my PS3, that would be fantastic)
(Oh, and I'm up for F4F and all that jazz, but no H4H thank you very much.)

Alright! I can say right off the bat, that I dig the overall vibe of your level, it's comical but daunting at the same time...I'll review as I play....
-The water section right at the beginning MIGHT benefit from a second airmaker, perhaps directly below the big lever..
-The camera angle on the area timed by the arrow makes the jumps a little difficult, but I don't really see much of a way to avoid that...I like the sticker on the button on the wall, though the skull did make me a little wary of pushing it ;P
-perhaps it's just me, but the combination of the camera angle and the layer change right after the first green lantern make it a little hard to stay on the ledge, but not so much to be frustrating
-very nice design on the belltower!
-DANG YOU FOR DELAYING LBP2!!! HOW DARE YOU!!
All in all, that was a very enjoyable level, 4 stars and a heart from me, good work! If you feel like doing a review, check out The Temple of Bubbles: Part II Thanks!

Thanks for that! I'll be sure to look into those issues and fix them up then next time I get on the PS3, along with checking out your level. ;D
Oh, and yes, delaying LBP2 was ALL Evilline's fault.

Feedback..

Positives:
+Platforming was okay
+Visuals looked good
+Gameplay was alright
+Design was good also

Sugguestions:
-In the beginning when you raise the bridge & fall in the water you should add a camera angle in the water pointing toward the bottom.

Overall the level was very good::star::star::star::star: keep up the good work.

Played your level finally, and here are my comments.

Pros
+the dialouge is very funny, and I enjoyed the overall feel of the level. It somehow reminded me of deathspank.
+the level is nicely decorated, and nothing seems over done.
+it is always clear what you have to do, and where you have to go.

Cons
-the end bridge slightly got on my nerves.....slightly.....
-the bit with the two wooden platforms moving up and down wouldn't allow me to move forward a layer, and when I did, it forced me back again a few times. not sure how or if you could fix that but whatever.

overall, the level is good fun and a breath of fresh air amongst all the serious levels out there. * * * * *

Hey! I'm trying to do this level to give you feedback but I've become stuck. After I get past the 2 lanterns in the moat, there doesn't seem to be anywhere to go--I'm stuck and I keep dying from lack of air. If you can help me get past this point I'd love to be able to give better level feedback--what I saw so far was cool.2010-10-25 17:13:00

Wow such a refreshing change to see a level deliver such a friendly, comical yet deadly atmosphere such as yours. Im only started playing it but I can already tell that you put alot of time into and I feel it will be great. Love the lighting, color or water, background and the sue of materials so far. I would say maybe you should a light or something near the first section to0 make it clear that you can go around ramp with the green paint on it.... As I review as I play it I feel that I may even favouriter this as it is pure quality work. Love the tightropes by the way... Hmm I think maybe you should allow the green lanterns to go higher and definitely adjust the camerangles in that segment too. But besides that... A heart you shall get indeed. Keep up that humour too that my type of self aware humour I love it.

Please check out my level which is a hig tech facility called "Resident Raytech". I sure do hope you enjoy it. Let me know what you thinkg of it and maybe even leave a nice little comment in the comment section.

Thanks StoopidSnake - there's a makeshift switch there on the roof past the lanterns, but clearly it isn't too obvious what you have to do. I'm going to change that to a 2-way switch now. I'll definitely take all your points into consideration when I'm doing my editing. Thank you very much!
(And thank you Blanchrocker, that makes my life 100000x easier )

EDIT: Okay, I made the bridge MUCH less frustrating, changed the switch and widened the gap on the wooden platforms to make it easier to get out. Thank you for all your help

I loved this level. I got a bit stuck at the start with the rotating pac man thing, but after that I was away. I loved the sense of adventure you have created with this level. It is a great mix of materials, colour, lighting and music. I can't think of much to add in the way of advice. Maybe a couple more check points. Well done. Hearted and 5 stars.2010-10-27 07:26:00

Played this the day before yesterday--or was it yesterday? Not really sure.

Anyway, good level. Once you replaced your custom switch with the basic 2-way, I saw it immediately. The challenge level was about right and the visuals were great. I especially like the trick you did with the strings and the invisible matter--very very cool, it really looks like the player is walking on the string (at least, I'm assuming this is a trick with invisible matter since as far as I know there are no "walkable" strings in the game--unless you have some expansion I don't know about). Either way it looked good.

Advice for improvement: Some of the camera angles when the player climbs the "tower" after entering the castle are a little awkward. I get why you did them the way you did--it adds variety and difference to the visuals--but the problem is that platforming across multiple layers gets weird and awkward when the camera is tilted at an angle to either side. It messes with the depth-perception in such a way that it is very easy to overshoot or undershoot what would normally be easy jumps--at least, it does for me. I wouldn't delete the cameras completely, but adjust them so that they see the level straight-on instead of at an angle--at least in places where the player is going to be switching layers in mid-jump. One other thing--I had a bit of trouble with the bridge at the end; I kept falling through to the smoky stuff beneath. It was especially frustrating because the bridge LOOKS like it should be an easy part of the level, and not a challenge. One way to fix this would be to put the pieces closer together--I did something similar but on a much smaller scale in Sky Palace that (as far as I know) works fine so you might have a quick look at that for an example.

And those are basically the only things I can think of, because all in all it's a well-done level. I especially like the look and feel of the environment--very impressive work. Looking forward to a sequel!

ok will play your level soon

but theres a few ways to upload pics:
1) Use a USB,
2) Upload it to tinypic.com (its the only website that does it) and email it to your self. put into a gallery, and copy the url.

I hope that helps
