Level Space

Archive: 12 posts

I created a few levels in beta, and was highly impressed by the amount of room they provided. I built LittleBigHouse and the whole level filled maybe half for the thermometer. But today I went to try to revisit the LittleBigHouse and make it a little better for the release... and by the time I had built the walls of the first room, I was 1/4 of the way up it... soooo, did they cut back level space or is anyone else having this problem? 2008-10-29 03:42:00

ask MM to do a patch up date that allows you to have bigger levels2008-10-29 12:05:00

Maybe you built the walls differently (I.E. more corners) than last time? I know that if you make an object have too many corners it will tell you the object is too complex. Make sure the walls are rectangles with only 4 sides/corners. other than that I'm not sure what's going on.2008-10-29 16:25:00

I think they did decrease the level size to cut back on download times. I started a level, added a car and a few ramps, barely anything, really, and I was already half way up the top. I guess you have to make a decision: make a large level with less detail, or a smaller more detailed level.

Given how people are looking for quality, I imagine the latter will be the only one available. Still, I imagine fitting gameplay into such small places will be fun!

Yeah, but I'm still slightly disapointed because the levels made in the beta were brilliant, and now they can't be as good. 2008-10-30 10:19:00

Surely if someone had a level that was made in the Beta that was almost full on the thermometer and they copy and paste it into a crater of the same size. Then go into create mode and see where the thermometer is. This would show any differences, surely.
Also even a level made in the Beta that you have a video for, this would also work, as when you bring up create mode you would be able to see if the thermometer matches up.
I haven't got the game my self yet so I can't try this for myself. But there are some very intricate and big levels already been made with the new full version (Using our very own Donkey-show's level as an example)
So i can't see that they would've decreased the size too much
But i'm sure if they did we'll have proof soon enough I suppose

This may explain why my save the train level is unable to load. It was close to full on the thermometer.

The level I'm working on now is far more complex and I have yet to hit the quarter mark. I think we have larger space.
