Language in LBP

Archive: 12 posts

So I'm working on a fairly story-oriented level right now and it occurred to me that I don't know the language rules on LBP. I'm sure profanity is prohibited, but I don't know what counts as profanity. For example, am I allowed to have the "d-word" in a text bubble?

Weird question, I know, and sorry if I am posting this in the wrong place--I'm still new here...

If you use a censored word in LBP1, the whole sentence will be censored to the player, i.e You'll be able to see the sentence but other players will see "************************************************".

The system is improved in LBP2, so that when a censored word is used, the rest of the sentence will still be visible.

LBP in-game censor list (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=26378-LBP-In-Game-Censorship-List&highlight=censor+list)2010-10-16 20:59:00

Wow, that's how censorship works in LBP? That's...that's really awful. Good grief, now I wonder if there's censored text in my other levels. I wouldn't know it if there was!

BTW, I didn't see a single American swear word on that list--should I assume that LBP would censor all of them? Based on the other things on the list, it seems logical to me that it would. I mean, the "f-word" isn't there but I seriously doubt LBP allows it.

OK, another question about the censorship system. If I play my level from a different PSN account--but on the SAME machine--will things be censored? I can easily log in as my room-mate to check this level when I'm done with it...

I'm thinking you'll be fine, because it's a different PSN account.

If you play the published version of your level, you can see what's censored. Turns out 'happened' was censored in my level...2010-10-17 21:51:00

This is going to be a major inconvenience, since the level I'm working on will have a LOT of text. Is there a full list somewhere of EVERYTHING that is censored? The link already posted here only gives a few that are unexpected outside of the UK.2010-10-20 21:20:00

You can always use darn if the 'd-word' is censored.

And for what counts as profanity..cockpit, happened, computer...
LBP's censor system is crazy

These are censored because they contain words which are profanities in other languages

Yeah the censorship is as bad as a password policy I ran into once that you couldn't use a word in your password...a word from any language...yeah that really sucked...infact I would hazard a guess that that actually made it easier to hack seeing as the potential for letter combinations was so greatly reduced. But look out for the happened, opened, computer, and any other combination that has the words in it. That list posted above will help you, a full list would be pointless....wayyyyyyyyy too many words. Just look out for any that contain rootwords...like open, opens, opening are all fine, but the second it is opened it is censored.2010-10-20 23:30:00

I think that American cuss words would casually appear casually censored.2010-10-21 00:13:00

Now that I think about it, I think I've played a few levels with the d-word in it.2010-10-24 02:10:00
