You can make it a specific kind of forest, or not, just an idea. Deadly falling pinecones? | 2010-10-16 19:03:00 Author: ThisDudeRufus Posts: 170 |
A good forest level for some inspiration would be the first half of Mulberry Woods by mrsupercomputer. The wood materials are usually used in forest levels, but I suppose that much would be obvious. | 2010-10-16 19:17:00 Author: booXely Posts: 654 |
well, I cant say i've seen anyone attempt to make a forest level where the vines are used as obsticles, not in a good way at least, and i think it would be pretty cool. Also google image forest to get cool backgrounds the "Logic Workshop" can help with any needed logic devices if you dont have any cause they're really good. one of the best obsticles is the changing height stairs so.. ya maybe a good puzzle or two, how about a water puzzle! the Adipose has some good forest making advice in one of his video tutorials so check that out as well use 3D!!!!! no one uses it much, and its a great tool if used right (Adipose also has a video tut or this) hope this help! | 2010-10-16 21:35:00 Author: septamus112 Posts: 82 |
I second booXely's response. Mulberry Woods inspired me enough to make an entire forest level. For obstacles and gameplay ideas take a look at the Savannah levels in the story mode. There's plenty of tried and true ideas in there that are always going to work. | 2010-10-16 23:38:00 Author: MofoSuperVillain Posts: 88 |

Well, if you're looking for some "realistic" gameplay, maybe have a tree that falls down that you then have to climb over, just some simple jumping platforming (like in Mulberry Woods), or perhaps make some "moss" that stands over a pit of water(etc.) that you have to climb across on. | 2010-10-17 08:48:00 Author: X-FROGBOY-X Posts: 1800 |
I've found sponge makes excellent materials for a forest level. Wood is a must, of course, and also try cardboard and polyestrine. I was thinking you should make a big platforming tree as part of the level. | 2010-10-18 16:05:00 Author: EliminatorZigma Posts: 173 |
I highly recomend using the 3D layer glitch and the "temples background" for more detail and sound effects. I have made a 4 storey stair mechanism and i have made a thread for it with a video :ghost: yeah just have vines and a general median that you keep using and making it more complex. | 2010-10-18 23:25:00 Author: AssassinatorRFC Posts: 715 |
