Invisible Powerups!

Archive: 21 posts

Alrighty! I dunno if this has be found before, but it turns out you can gas-ify power-up stations, allowing them to become invisible yet still usable! I discovered that black works best in terms of invisibility... However, as a disclaimer, you must have the actual station (light emitting part) inside of an object (AKA, gasify, then move into an object), because that can harm your sack person! all that remains is a regular-looking light that when you come in contact with, equipts the powerup! This works with all power ups and the power up remover! Hope this helps you guys! Yet again, sorry if this has already been discovered! <3. EDIT- Sorry guys, just figured out this doesnt work with the paintinator... Although you can burn and electrify it... hmmm..2010-10-16 18:41:00

I didn't know you could lethalize power up stations. Guess I never tried before lol.

Nice find sir.

Levers, powerups, and pretty much anything "physical" can be lethalized m8.
Not new, but it it appears some people still didn't know.

But did any of us know that the powerups were still functional and death-less even after leathalization? If so, sorry 'bout that..2010-10-17 04:05:00

As far as I'm aware of other's awareness of this, aye, they did.
(Most of the times, they tried it BECAUSE they expected it wouuld, and it did. )

That's a nifty idea! When I read the title I thought of an idea for "invisible" powerups. Instead of placing them ina certain spot just emit them and demit them really fast when the player passes a Sensor Switch. Don't know if it would work, I'm sure someone's thought of it already but felt like throwing it out there.

I thought this could solve my custom powerup problem, but alas, decorations don't show on gassified powerups. But thanks anyway. 2010-10-17 12:39:00

Would the power-ups still work if they were moved to the 3d front layers, behind the camera?2010-10-17 15:59:00

Couldn't you move the station with a VERY long piston set to 0.1 seconds? Or would the piston break?

Would the power-ups still work if they were moved to the 3d front layers, behind the camera?
Probably not, because they occupy(physically) the same layer as you when you hover in create mode.

I tried this. I realised if you put it in a box (jetpack for example) you can hide it so you can't see the light from it and jump on top of he box and get a jetpack.

Also if anyone already knows this (can't guess who ) I KNOW YOU KNOW EVERYONE KNOWS THIS it's for everyone who doesn't

It's like at primary school when you're dead smart and you get easy stuff 'cos everyone else needs to catch up. Lol.

I thought the 3d front layers occupy the front most normal layer, as 3d back layers occupy the normal layer in the back. Someone created an LBP GTA -level, where you would get a new jetpack again as soon as you pressed O. I think it was done by making a jetpack power-up move really fast back and forth in the 3d layers.

Well, great tip, never tried this one out!
Oh, sadly it doesn't work on paintinator...
I would wish for a plaintinator that the creator sets the color instead of it fitting with the pod. Or better, a random color shooting gun !

They can't do because front layer objects collide with you in hover mode, or is that only when they are placed in the hover layer

If you made a huge powerup by emitting at larger sizes and placed it offscreen would the light still be visible? Maybe that's how he did it

Hey, by doing this with the regular tied jetpack, and by sticking it to a material, you can tie an object to sackboy !
I just got a great idea ! Stick a small jetpack (shrinked by emitter) to a contact bomb. Now try not to blow up ! This could make an original level concept ! You put an emmiter that emmits a bomb-jetpack, and you have to make something explode at the end ! Okay, probably too hard to play

Anyways, you can make most objects dangerous, but not all of them in gas (by the way, are there thin objects from Mm that can be gasified ?). The rocket, the red and white thing that explodes can be set to fire or electricity in two parts. I mean, you can set the red part to fire and white part to electric. Neat, cause you can grab the red part with R1 (not when it's on fire, bright head). The scoreboard's screen and plateform are also two objects sticked together. As you probably know, these objects can be split in two by destroying one of them with a big piece of hard material. Unluckily, you can't do that with the rocket as it will exploda at your

You can set plasma balls on fire, so they become fireballs and still dissapear when they touch you (they don't kill you as you need to touch twice fire to die). And even to electric, which is special, because it makes plasma balls that don't kill you like plasma ! And you can make them safe ! They turn black when safe, sadly. But still, you can make safe object that are not affected by gravity and that destroy on contact. This could be used to make weirdo logic !!!

Wait, can we set paint on fire ? :colossus: Let's slaughter the world with paint !

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edit : someone started a post about non-lethal plasma. I also found a new crazy glitch. First, place a paintinator generator, and take one. Pause mode, then shoot a ball. It might not work if you are standing in the back layer, so stay in the middle when you shoot. Still in pause mode (yeah, try without !!!) set the paint on fire. A weirdo line of fire appears between the generator and the paint. If you delete the generator before shooting, the line of fire will come out of the nearest object. Just for fun, I deleted everything and the line came out of the corner of the game, on a thin layer in front of the HOVER LAYER OMG! And I made my ball big, so it does this...http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/720/unephoto2.jpg
