A Slightly Colourless Return

A Slightly Colourless ReturnCheeze-Bo
Sackboy returns to Rainbow Land to find that colourless creatures are taking away the colour.
The Sequel to my best level yet, A Colourful Exploration. I personally think this is my best level yet and is far better than it's predecessor. I hope it gets a good reception like 'A Colourful Exploration' as right now it's got 34 plays, 4 stars and 10 hearts! I can't believe how much you guys liked that level! I'm on my way to becoming the Hoarder 2.0 or at least a big name like Sketch (Sorry for my fantasising).

I will happily make a sequel to this level if it gets enough hearts (the same idea as my first level) but right now I won't be making it straight away as I need to carry on with some 12 Days of Christmas stuff. Only 56 Days launch

THIS LEVEL HAS BEEN FIXED! YOU CAN NOW USE THE ELEVATOR WITH EASE!*

*When I tested it, it worked fine.

I am soo amazed by how many people like this level
Maybe one day I will get spotlighted for one of my levels (Fantasising again lol)

I can tell... that this was a very nice sequel! Still very short, but very good! The favourite thing of it is that it's like a Mini-run! That is awesome! BTW you didn't use any expansion packs! That's why i rated it 5 stars also! And i hearted it too! Great level overall!2010-10-16 18:21:00

Level Hearts: You just go the community moon, go to my published levels, and then hover over then and it says all of their stats
Creator Hearts: Select one of your levels in the my published levels section on the community moon, then go to more by this author and then it should come up with your icon, and then it will show you all of your stats.

I hope you understand this

Hey Cheeze bo Another Good level from you Still a little short but i liked the small bossed and gameplay was great too.

I do have a few tips for you though,

1-Shrinking the entire level would make it look Sharper and fulled out

2-More Checkpoints would be good so when people die they don't have to walk the all the way again.

3-More Bubbles to add to the Level.

4-I think you should do the level so the parts are connected instead of the elevator

5 Stars keep up the good work and try some of the things i suggested.

@Sketch

Sorry for the shortage of bubbles.

What are the differences between entrances and checkpoints??

I'll try and do one big level instead of the elevator.

Ok cool.

Entrance - where sackboy enters the level (should only be one of these)

Checkpoint- Sackboy spawns here after he has trigered it. (best to use these instead of entrances as checkpoints)

For some reason nobody pointed this out yet... Is it just my PSP or was there no music/SFX at all? Also, as I said last time, abandon the elevator and retry system and try to make an entire cohesive level. One more thing, try to make level way above the level floor, so you don't see even if you die, it's very ugly.2010-10-17 14:08:00

I know I didn't realise there wasn't any music or sounds. It's probably due to the fact I play with the volume off half the time. And sorry about the floor.

Thanks for playing it though! Very much appreciated!

Sorry for 5 posting... :'(

I've now got 5 hearts, 26 plays and 4 stars for this level, meaning it must be a good level to have over 10 plays and still have 4 stars, right?

Anyway I'm starting my campaign again. If I have at least 15 hearts for this level, I'll do a third Rainbow Land level.

Feedback!

Music: Cheeze! I really think some music would add to this level. Something rhythmic and cheerful-ish for the platforming and something more tense and fast for bosses. I don't have many suggestions, just try things out and see what fits.

Gameplay: This was good, there were some nice, simple platforming sections with a wide variety of obstacles. Although the level may of benefited from a few more. To add some extra excitement I suggest just branching out further, mess around in create mode and try and create a obstacle thats completely unique! The multiple bosses were a cool idea, and added to the excitement of the level. I would just suggest adding some attacks to challenge the player. The level was paced quite well, although there were some places that could of benefited from an extra checkpoint, and getting thrown to the beginning of each section got repetitive (but maybe I am just no good at platforming). You can get stuck if you fall from the lift, which forced me to restart once, but it was no big issue. The way you split you level into sections was a very good concept, and it fitted with the story.

Visuals: They were colourful, fun and showed you know what goes with what. Try not to leave to larger expanse of one material though, add some more stickers and scenery. The scope for what would work in you level is huge, any scenery from purple trees to geometric randomness (good if you are high on thermo) would really help make this level look better. I liked the use of layers on the walls and floor with alternating materials. Also the layered stickering on the bosses looked great too. At the end the 'pillars' of colour created a very nice effect, why not try a gradient sticker to add some more depth as well?

Characters/Story: These were neat, and fun to look at. All you need is a little more personality with the magic mouth, the creature's face at the start was very expressive, try and spread this to the dialogue. Think about wether the creature scared, panicked, or putting a brave face on things. Just add some more personality and you have got some great characters here. A magic mouth for the bosses would be fine, giving them each a different style would add to the story loads. The idea for having a different 'world' for each boss was awesome though, in fact, visuals could help you improve on these too.

Sound Effects: There were not many, you just need to put in a few for obstacles (rumbles, cogs clashing, boings, etc...) and a growl or roar (or squelch?) from the bosses would help make the atmosphere you are intending for the level.

Overall: Very nice, bold visuals, simple but fun gameplay and a different concept, making it stand out more from the crowd. Remember to add audio into you levels, it can really help set the scene. You have some good ideas for stories, worlds and creatures, all you need to do is expand on them. As for visuals, just try and add some more, I would recommend anything bold, abstract and most of all colourful! Your layout and stickering are good and show some very neat designs, all you are wanting for is little more detail. A bright and fun level.

Ack! I have gone and written a whole essay again. Anyway, I hope it helps, Cheeze!

So this level was.... okay... You had "cut off" blocks throughout the level meaning I could see outside of the level. Also, I could've skipped the whole thing just by going up on the elevator to the scoreboard. Which is fine if the level is all about combos, but it isn't.... Where is the music and SFX??? Also, if I was killed by the bosses I would've had to run through the whole section all over again, and nobody likes re-platforming. :star::star::star: You still got potential!
