Each sticker in the level has been painstakingly rebuilt in-game, and a great amount of care has been put into it.
There has been a lot of thermo glitching, so please don't let anyone join while playing.
So yeah, this is a level that took months to create.
So, simply for filler purposes, I shall now tell you, the reader, the tale of how this level came to be?

?Twas the night before Christmas?

Uhm, I mean, it was about a week after the competition was announced. I was planning to make something great, something spectacular, something? magical? Then I went and made an opening sequence so disgusting and vile it deserved to be put in a cave with a rabid squirrel and a bottle of spiked tequila.
So then OneEyedBanshee came along. We stared at this abomination for the best part of half a minute. Then I deleted it and went on a trademark rant about how bad I am at creating, and how I deserve to be held in a cage with a rabid squi ? well yeah.

NOTE: OEB was very supportive of my pile of puke?

So then we started thinking.

We decided if we really couldn?t do the spaceship level, we?d give up and do Pipe Dreams.
And here we are!

So, with reel layor chanjing teknologees, I give you our level!

I know I helped create this thing but I have feedback anyway Really need a cam zone looking downwards after first enemy so you can see the second one. Right now you jump blindly only hearing the noises it makes. Second is the bounce pad in pipe right after second enemy. That thing has such random strength it can barely get you up and other times you rocket sky high. I had one of those moments and flew out at the top to the area with the pipe loop again. Add some invisible dm to stop that happening.

This level is best played 1 player for minimum lag and you really must NOT let anyone join while in the level, the lag this creates is just too much for any ps3 to handle and will most likely freeze anyone involved.

Ohai! I usually don't stop by the level showcase to give feedback too often, but I couldn't resist!

I LOVE this level, it is so nice to see it finally finished! The steps you guys took to make it an exact replica really show through in the level itself. Well...I agree with Banshee's complaint, but that being my only gripe! This level is the definition of perfect. Which is why you need to make more levels Kean! :kz:

This level is an exact replica of Pipe Dreams, and I know how hard Kean and Banshee worked to get it that way (as I came in and just watched them create occasionally ). Those stickers look amazing though! Not too sure about the sackbot, Strangepom's seem better (What were you expecting? I am in the contest too )

Yes, we'll re release the level after the competition's over with no theck gas, but until then, sorry :/

And Jedi, if I had to pick one thing in Strangepom's level that I didn't like, it'd be the sackbots - they break the level! And we thought having dancing sackbots made from dissolve and score bubbles would be better than just score bubbles...

And we really couldn't have working sackbots - the thermo's exploding as it is!

And on that note:

I just played your level and really liked it.
I don't have the beta of LBP2 so I can't really tell how good the gameplay is compared to the beta level, but I can say that the gameplay itself rocks.
A great copy of a good level. Loved the way you imitated the bots that follow you with the bubbles. Very fun to play and I couldn't see any bugs that make the playing difficult
4 stars because it's just a remake, eventhough it's a great remake.

Me an Banshee are finding some really strange bugs, and doing our best to fix them, but it seems everytime we fix something, another one breaks...

It'd be really helpful if you could play through the level yourselves and tell us if you find anything...

It was a pretty good level. One weird thing about this was that when I first started playing the music didn't. Then I restarted and it was on. Now to the real critic.
I think that level had great gameplay. I really didn't understand material use in some points, but oh well... Characters were awesome! Gave me a real pipe dreams feeling. Only bad thing about visuals is that some points were very brightly coloured, not the original pipe dreams way. The enemy was cool, but I think the one in psyntens' level is better. It didn't look so nice. Overall 5 stars. As f4f could you check my level Marshy Dungeon of Mysteries, thank you!

Curious where and which material you thought was a bad choice.

Pipe Dreams is a brightly coloured level because it is from neon propaganda. The lighting in LBP2 allows for more contrast/ better shadows though which LBP1 does not so it might appear brighter.

Oh and the music thing, it doesn't start until you free the sackbots or run to a certain point after them.

Yup, pretty much what Banshee said for all that:
We can't make a new lighting engine with better contrast.

And it is Neon Propaganda... So it's supposed to be sickeningly bright...

Here's my feedback:

It's a great level, I'm not in the beta, but if I was, I would say it looks just like the real thing. After watching the video of the real thing, it looked exactly the same. Great job!

It must have been a lot of work to trace all the stickers and everything.

Pros:
+Perfect copy
+EPIC
+Awesome graphics
+Awesome objects
+Awesome stickers
+Awesome mechanics
+Awesome everything

cons:
-I got stuck under the blocks that fall at the end. That's it.

Overall, :star: :star: :star: :star: :star: and a well-deserved <3.

NOOO! Lost my reply. ;_; Anyway, here's a shorter version:

The level is spot on visually, the gameplay only needs a tiny little bit of tweaking.
- You can reach the first prize bubble from the front layers, no need for the player to switch to the back layer.
- You can get into the hamster wheels.
- I don't recall the weirdish camera on the fist. I may be wrong on this one.
- Bouncy stairs part are -way- eaiser to layer shift down into in the beta version. More horizontal space.
- The fire walking enemies rotate a bit faster.
- Rubble at the end dissolves.

A bit disappointed there is no sticker switch at the start. Plus it freezes if you restart the level. What glitches did you use for this level?
Are you going to relax up the thin gas once the competition is over?
Would be 5 stars, but I hate it when levels make my PS3 freeze.

Not sure how to go about this but will have a look at demitting, this area is cheated so tricky to fix.

Really sorry about the freeze, wish it didn't but no way we could have fit this all into one level without cheating the thermo and we didn't want to chop the quality. We are thinking about splitting in two when the contest is over and winners announced etc. Curious what you would you want the sticker switch to do? Wouldn't be hard putting one on it but not sure on it's function.

Right, we'll probably end up staying up ridiculously late attempting to fix all that at once, but thanks anyway.

Sorry about the Ps3 crash... Believe me, once we got to the area where you first see the pink jacket and typewriters, we literally couldn't add anything without emitting it... If we got it wrong 1st time, we had to return to pod without saving as we couldn't undo without crashing both our consoles...

Yeah, when the comp's over (winners announced, etc.) we'll split in two, and remove the theck gas..

Ah the age of battle with the thermo.
Even though I don't care for glitches, I do respect the patience required to emit entire sections while the PS3 verges on collapse.
Thanks for the sympathy, means a lot. =)

That camera moves between two angles which is rather noticeable is you are standing still.
I always find it a little jarring if a magic mouth cam is bouncing up and down with a character. But it's only a personal preference, so totally up to you guys.

Loved those stickers, heh. On a replay I also found another version with you two in it, plus another one with that grinning face.
Taking levels apart (or at least trying to) is a habit of mine..

Great job on the level you two, good luck with the contest!

I don't have the beta, so I'm doing all these as a stand-alone level, I'm too lazy to go check what PipeDreams is supposed to look like, sorry about that.

Aesthetics: :star::star::star::star::star:

I really loved the aesthetics. If this is what it looks like in LBP 1, I can't wait to see what the real level will look like in LBP 2. Fantastic job on the stickers, they looked completely genuine, hope nobody steals them.

Gameplay: :star::star::star::star::star:

The gameplay was fun, and flowed really nicely from section to section, I don't think I experinced any hiccups at all. Where to go was always apparent, and I never got lost. Nice job.

Creativity: N/A


I reviewed the rest of it as a standalone level, but please excuse me for not rating his part, as it is a remake of a Mm level, so the ideas aren't thoroughly yours. I don't mean this offensively at all, please don't take it the wrong way.

Final Thoughts: Overall a :star::star::star::star::star: level, from what I've seen of Pipe Dreams it's an excellent remake, I haven't played psyntens yet, but I think you guys have a very good chance of winning this.

Yes I know my sackbots break stuff. You are lucky that I will not finish on time, as my current submitted level will not win and my revised level is a LOOOooooong way off. Yours is definitely the best so far.

Played this yesterday and man it looks just like the original, the custom stickering was fantastic and the whole atmosphere was captured very well. I chuckled when I tried to remove a custom sticker and got a "Stealer" one instead, I wasn't stealing! I was just deconstructing! Very funny how the sackbots were prize bubbles that had animation done to them. The Hammering Guy looked pretty cartoonish just like the vid and it was really fun to watch him hammer away. I did not run into anything buggy at all, but I did notice that the read scoreboard where you see how many sackbots you freed is not working? Maybe you did this on purpose, but I would think of a little logic system to have a certain number that correlates to how many sackbots you freed be shown on that scoreboard, it would make a nice addition to this already awesome level. 5 :star:'s and leave feedback on my level in my sig please 2010-10-21 15:31:00

Okay, I gave this level a try and here's what I thought.

I thinky ou did an outstanding job remaking Pipe Dreams, by watching the videos and being in the beta, I can definitely say it looks just like it. The use of materials is great,your bounce pads work very well and I love how you made all those setickers, they're amazing. I love the look for the suction tubes and of course since making a sackbot that follows you could be pretty hard, I still like how you designed some instead of just dropping apoint bubble.(no offence psyntens) It's too bad your PS3 freezes when someone joins but I really can't blame you guys for that, just a problem with the thermometer or something I guess, unless you're really an evil group whos' trying to give me the yellow light of death. D:

*Achem* Anyway, the design for Clive is amazing, the gameplay's great like in the LBP 2 version but the second enemy with the microphone head fell and couldn't get up, making it easier to kill it. When near the end in that suction tube piece going right as you bounce up and down with the bounce pads, you can squeeze out at the top, although I had to try to do it to get out. Luckily it didn't have me escape the level, so it's not really a problem since you end up the same place if you just stayed in and have it have you eventually fall out of the suction tube piece. Overall, I gave this level :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3 Awesome job and good luck on the contest

When you say you escaped the pipe at the end, when was this? We made the gap smaller recently making it impossible to escape I thought... As for the fallen enemy, sometimes they fall over randomly in create mode, doesn't seem to happen in play so likely we saved it with one of them fallen over(this happened yesterday) and we republished with the enemy standing upright again. Sorry about the crash

All those stickers are masterpieces. You must've spent a lot of time working on them. Your Sackbots are pretty clever too. I wondered how you were going to make them. Simply stunning.

I hope you guys will make more levels together.

Okay, the suction tube piece that is going right with the bounce pads on the ceiling and floor. Once fully going right, no ore bouncing and you slide down with sackbot counter even though there's nothing since the sackbots can't follow you. I managed to squeeze out at the top but didn't escape anywhere, ended up being the same place I would've been 2010-10-22 20:41:00

Haha sorry but I don't know if that's possible, just deleted all versions off my moon, Kean has newest one. I will have to ask him but I think this is best played in LBP1 so you should wait until you have access to it again. It probably wouldn't look the same anyway and considering the amount of thermo cheats it would probably overheat in the beta. I'll see what can be done though 2010-10-23 17:50:00

Umm, yeah I'm in Scotland atm so I can't really make any changes; my mate who I'm staying with always hogs my PS3 and plays DR2...
... Without asking me...
So yeah updating to lbp2 beta would be kinda difficult, as I don't have beta and Banshee doesn't have the level...

Woah ! This level really impressed me.
The visuals are just awesome, all those guys working in the background, just perfect !
the gameplay is very smooth, particularly the green tubes I liked a lot (it reminds me those in Sonic the Hedgehog )

Now that's exactly like the one from LBP2 as so far what I see in the beta. The stickering and visuals are a top notch and the gameplay really does feel like the one from the actual "Pipe Dreams 2". It's funny that the sackbots in this level are made out of the score bubbles and dissolving material. I don't encounter any problems in this wonderful level so great job. 5 :star:s and a <3.
