I made a LBP rockband level too aswell as a L4D level! But making the logic, atleast for me, isnt as easy as it seems. You have to make sure the movers, sequencers, and other things work at the perfect speed so they can all co-op with each other.2010-10-15 00:47:00

im not in beta. i was saying the fact that i tested the buttons to figure out what they correspond to on the standard controller. so if its hooked up to a dcs.

I kinda get how you would make this. You would hook up a DCS to emitters (One-Shot) that would spawn a mag key. Arrows come down on mover with mag key switches on them hooked up to a point giver and a destroyer that would get rid of the arrow... (Basics)2010-10-15 01:03:00

I I'm definitely going to make a Rockband level.

But maybe not so complicated as Affected said.

More like this:

X=X
O=O
Triangle=Triangle
Square=Square.
And up down for strumming. But it wouldn't be Rockband, I think I would go for more of my own sort of music game... Savvy?

what i posted is what the gh controller would press for that color.

so without changing anthing.

Pressing red on the gh is like pressing L1 on the standard controller.

if you were to use a gh controller playing a shooter game pressing the colored keys would do your shooting and grenade throwing.

Eh, it seems kind of weird using a controller for a Rockband/Guitar Hero Game. Perhaps when Playstatio Move support becomes available?2010-10-15 01:45:00

the point would be to use the rockband or guitar hero controller.

You can use them as a controller in every game out there except there are limitations on what actions you could do.

I remember years ago playing a death match halo round with my brother and i both using GH controllers.

yeah you would need the standard controller to get the level started but then you can connect the GH controller and it will work fine.

i thought that was what you meant from the beginning.

i already drew up a really sloppy design for the mechanics (using DCS, and logic, plus the nice new direction combine logic, emitters, and tag/mag switches.)

no scanner though would have to take a picture to show you. :/

Cant show you pictures arent working... sorry :/

I was just thinking, if one were to make a guitar hero type level, it could be possible to have an option at the beginning of the level asking what guitar controller you have. (Either Rock Band or Guitar Hero) because they are a little different. Do you think this could be done easily?2010-10-15 04:40:00

what is the difference between the guitars.

It could be as simple as choosing a different DCS for the two controls.

i have both and there doesnt seem to be much of a difference to me.

When you use the rock band guitar on a guitar hero game, it won't work for all of the buttons. The reason is because the buttons are wired to different controls. I don't know what control each button is, but an example would be: In Rock band, blue is X, in Guitar Hero, blue is R2. That's most likely not right, but that's just an example.

the colored buttons should be the same
but im not sure if the special ones like the tilt (star power) or the slide (RB controller) or whammy activate anything.

I know if you press "select" on a rockband controller, it will activate it.
Does anyone know if you can use "select" as an option on the controllinator? I don't have the beta quite yet so I don't know.

Guitar Hero/Rock Band levels have been discussed ever since lbp2 was announced. There were a few people planning on forming a Rock Band team to make levels. I offered to figure out the logic for them. I planned on getting all the logic built and rigging a sort of template that creators could use to plug their music into (obviously they'd need to map the buttons for each song). At least, that's the plan if they ask me: I didn't actually join their team; just said I'd build the logic if they couldn't get anybody else.

I wouldn't bother doing something like this in the beta though. I wouldn't wanna' put all the effort into building the thing and then have to start all over when the real game comes out.

I was thinking why won't we build some standards it's label naming on the tags for wireless logic? So every Song and GH logic (or any other kind of logic)can be compatible to each other and more wirelessy. Only problem i see here is fact that wireless logic have very high latency in online mode and problem with note placeing in same sequencer as music

There I did it... a few hours into the beta I decided to do it... It's not a real level, just a test. You can light up the different colored notes on screen by pressing the buttons on your Guitar Hero controller, then strum the strum bar to play a note. I don't have any actual notes streaming down the screen, it's more a "practice mode"...

For beta trialists, here's the lbp.me link. (http://beta.lbp.me/v/1ppd)

I don't really see the challenge in making rhythm games' mechanisms... pistons allow you to control the exact speed (and therefore the sync) of the notes coming down... and some invisible Holo for the "hitboxes"... so.2010-10-25 18:28:00
