Invisible Thin Barriers Reocurring In Levels
Archive: 7 posts
I've been noticing this a lot lately, it seems that more and more creators are publishing levels with big invsible material covering parts of their levels, like in the dragonslayer series, many parts have this, which can only really be noticed if you take out your sticker edit tool, is there a certain reason to this? Like not wanting people to see what stickers were used, or is it about something totally different? | 2010-10-14 15:15:00 Author: damaz10 Posts: 771 |
it's invisible gas. keeps the player from changing layers when you don't want them to... there's alot of uses for it, it's a great tool, but sometimes people use it as an alternative to building in layers to gameplay spec. get in aya's garden of goodies. | 2010-10-14 15:26:00 Author: Unknown User |
Many creators use it protect their stickers with invisible gas, cause they don't want people to take them off and steal 'em. Others use it, as NinjaMicWZ said, to keep the player from changing layer. You can get invisible gas in this (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=29559-Garden-of-Goodies&p=512099&viewfull=1#post512099) level. | 2010-10-14 15:35:00 Author: Alec Posts: 3871 |
Yes, I use it in all my levels to protect the stickers from stealers... It stops people changing layers too, and there's a theck version of it so you can bully theckx people by killing them at a certain point... >: D But yeah, all this has been said. There's nothing else to it, really. | 2010-10-14 16:33:00 Author: Keanster96 Posts: 1436 |
Invisible gas may be good, I used the invisible broken piston material, it is always in square form, but it can be resized and it is a thin vs. thick layer...although I swear I have had thick layers from broken pistons before? Does the gas make sounds? I don't use it for the stickers, I love people to see they work put into a level, I just use it for an area where the scene is a cut-away into a building for a player to see where they are, but are not supposed to jump out...and glass, even mirrored will take away from the design. | 2010-10-14 16:40:00 Author: celsus Posts: 822 |
Ok now it makes sense, but yeah, thanks to everyone for clearing that up for me. It really had me thinking for a while, but it was a simple answer | 2010-10-15 17:16:00 Author: damaz10 Posts: 771 |
In LBP2, we can now replace this with invisible/soundless plasma. Personally I feel it is pretty lame to use it to prevent sticker removal. It removes a feature that makes LBP that much more awesome. | 2010-10-15 22:26:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |
