Character Select?
Archive: 11 posts
Would it possible to build a "character select" screen in a level, Each character being a sackbot, then you choose a sackbot character and you control the selected character invisibly? What i'm thinking of doing: sackboy drops out of the entrance to a 'choose a character' screen (imagine all blacked out) , showing 4 or 5 characters to choose. Player picks one via a switch (don't know what kind of switch yet), he then drops into a hole where the sackbot is hidden by a flat piece of material, then they get into its Direct Control (I don't like the new name ![]() Also, with this theory, say there were multiple players in the level, could they each pick a character and play together? | 2010-10-14 08:12:00 Author: Matimoo ![]() Posts: 1027 |
This is possible, it just needs some logic. I'm not really sure how to implement the idea of having multiple players choose a sackbot but I'm sure it is possible. | 2010-10-14 11:04:00 Author: napero7 ![]() Posts: 1653 |
This is possible, it just needs some logic. I'm not really sure how to implement the idea of having multiple players choose a sackbot but I'm sure it is possible. You might just have to resort to having a second (3rd 4th) character select or with some more logic have one big one.... If i had teh REEL Betahz i would totally try to figure that out... Edit. I kinda have an idea for the character select... each player has a Tag switch and hologram when selecting. all the characters that can be chosen have a set of the tag switches and once a player highlights and selects the character it emits the corresponding sackbot. http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=25243&d=1287054126 25243 hopefully it helped | 2010-10-14 11:09:00 Author: TheAffected ![]() Posts: 626 |

Absolutely... I'm doing it in my upcoming series, and already have the basic set-up done (just waiting for beta access to tweak and test). Here's a link to another thread on the forum where someone posted a video of a SuperMario level where you can do just that. ![]() http://www.lbpcentral.com:80/forums/showthread.php?37924-Does-anyone-else-find-this-video-as-funny-as-I-do&p=655819 | 2010-10-15 21:02:00 Author: Rustbukkit ![]() Posts: 1737 |
@ Rustbukkit, well you could do character select in LBP1 if we thinking that way ![]() | 2010-10-15 23:16:00 Author: Shadowriver ![]() Posts: 3991 |
@ Rustbukkit, well you could do character select in LBP1 if we thinking that way ![]() Huh? How so? We don't have sackbots in LBP, so there's no way to "dress the player" as our intended character? That's why I originally started with a costume tutorial for my upcoming series, then realized I don't even need it because the player can play using a sackbot dressed as the character. ![]() I don't think we are thinking the same thing(?). Also, what's Holo UI? Something to do with Holo material? Oop... gotta run... There's only 6 seconds until my beta finishes DL'ing!! WooT! | 2010-10-16 02:32:00 Author: Rustbukkit ![]() Posts: 1737 |

XD Just built this in my mind! ...I'll have to get on the Beta to try it out ![]() | 2010-10-16 12:02:00 Author: Nurolight ![]() Posts: 918 |
UI = User Interface, I'm going to assume. As in, like, a menu, where you can select things and what not. | 2010-10-18 03:01:00 Author: LukeCF ![]() Posts: 790 |
Completely possible! It's pretty easy if you ask me! A monkey could make a simple sackbot procedure! | 2010-10-18 13:03:00 Author: grayspence ![]() Posts: 1990 |
