Shady MovementsChicoleunis
http://www.imgbox.de/users/public/images/JIhfBnZ1fA.jpgYou are caught in a dungeon deep under earth's surface.
Everything is moving inhere...?
You start to run.
You manage to avoid the first traps but *boom* you're trapped again. You're running for ages now. Don't you want to take a break? Oh, what was that? The wall is moving?! What woaahh im falling down!
...
Wait haven't i been here before?!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello guys and welcome to the thread of my new level "Shady Movements"
There is no real story and no textbubbles in this level, but the description tells you an overview of the situation in the level. The level is rather dark and i've almost solely used pistons for the gameplay.
The power of pistons... oh yea.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The level was basically made for one player alone, due to some "self playing" parts and camera zones.
But as i would not be able to force you to play it alone, you can also play it with more if you want, just keep in mind that it is ment to be a singleplayer level.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, its right. I've used NO decorations in this level and only a few stickers to show you the right way.
I had two versions of the level, one with decos and stickers and one without.
And i like the one without more. It just fits better with the level and looks clean, well a dungeon is not clean but i hope you know what i mean with clean.

It was my decision and if you don't like it then just don't play.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah... making this level was a bit like a warm-up for me after a long break of creating and generally playing LBP.
Don't expect an artistic masterpiece with highly elaborated characters telling you a story.
Shady Movements is ment to be a high speed platformer with some clean visuals and nice lighting.
Ok enough self-praise XD
Many people who played this level said that the "no sticker/decoration way" is rather bad in their eyes, but i like it like this and im proud of this level.

Just played your level.

I agree about your visuals. No need for stickers here, this looks finished. The yellow and grey goes well together, the lighting is great.

The gameplay is top notch, as usual. Not too hard, but challenging in parts. Good flow.
Great use of obstacles. Really liked the trapdoors, and the slides that end up in spikes.
Really like how you keep ending up near the closed-level post.

Small stuff: near the obstacle with the spiked wall and the L-R sliding rectangle (with a square cut out, so you can bypass the wall), some of the spikes here need to be glued on.

All in all: great level, hearted.

If you're up for F4F please give my level Drones of Genius Loci a try.

This level is one of the best implementations of the basic functionality of LBP that I have ever seen. I really think this is the kind of thing that the creators of the game had in mind. A perfect blend of platforming and acrobatic puzzling. As far as visuals go, I agree with you about the lack of decorations--this level is already very complex and with all the moving parts, it doesn't need the usual "dress-up" that most LBP levels need. I wouldn't change a thing, visually.

In fact I only have one complaint, and it's probably a result of my own ineptitude anyway. After I got past the part where the player goes back to the beginning (cool idea, btw), I went to the left, tagged the checkpoint, got on the lift, jumped over the spike...and had no idea where to go next. And I'm still stuck there. I did try jumping over to the right, on top of the moving piece with the checkpoint below it, but from there I just get squashed by the beam above it and can't figure out where to go next. Not sure what I'm missing, but I can't beat the level until I know what to do there. Anyway I look forward to finishing it once someone tells me where to go from here

If we are thinking about the same part, then you should jump on the moving piece with the checkpoint below it, change layer and go up and then left again.
There should be another moving pillar that can squash you and even more left shere should be a lift up.

Ill give feedback to your F4F level when i have the time.
thanks for your feedback.

I played your level and really really liked it.
You are right about the decoration. Looks kind of right to me although I would love to see the decorated one

The gameplay was good, I like the platforming
The level is challenging , but in a funny way and the gameflow is really good
The lighting is very good

Didn't really find anything negative.........apart from wanting to see the decorated version, but that's not the topic ind this thread.
Great level, good work
5 stars from me

That was an insane level in a great way. The obstacles are unique and the mine carts part is quite ingenious. Cool to see a lot of moving objects in this level and the material choices are good too. Overall this level deserves 5 stars and a heart.

F4F my upcoming new level "The Hero Chronicles LV8 Phantom Planet Part 1 and 2". It'll be published on Wednesday.

Very well designed level and great feeling of being trapped through-out the level. I like the idea that you get thrown about so much you never quite know where you are. Would of liked some more obstacles but on the whole really good level. 8/10.2010-10-18 21:13:00

The whole level is an obstacle, isn't it?

Anyways, thanks for the feedback everyone.

Wow, that was mind boggling. One of my favorite things ever to play is well planned out gameplay, and you had truckloads of it here. Very nice level.

Aesthetics::star::star::star::star:

I liked the Temple theme, and I agree with you whole heartedly on the decoration standpoint. Decorations in a level where there is so much stuff going on would have made it felt overcrowded. I also have to say, I didn't see a single piston in that entire level. THAT is amazing.

Gameplay: :star::star::star::star::star:

As I said before, I'm a sucker for well planned out gameplay, and this had nothing but. Fantastic job.

Creativity: :star::star::star::star::star:

I haven't seen a level done like this in a very long time, so long I don't think I have ever seen a level quite like this.

Overall, easily a :star::star::star::star::star: level, the only one of it's kind, and I meen that in a very good way.

Most definitely the best thing I've played this month. Very clean visuals mixed with a ton of fun and fast paced platforming ideas make this one I'll come back to many times. 5 stars and hearted!2010-10-23 15:23:00

Okay, I gave this level a play and here's what I thought.

I loved the gameplay, was a fun little challenge and I loved how you came back to the start....twice actually. It was a lot of fun, there was a great use of changing through layers and being bounced up, down, left and right. The theme was good not very long but still a great level to play with a nice theme. :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3 Nice job

Dude! This level was epic.
Good:
+I like the way you ''Material decorated'' it.
+Gameplay was purely awesome.
+Epicness of epicnesity of pure epic. EPIC!
Bad:
-The way you used that PotC stone material on the background. It could have been more beautifull.
Critic: :star::star::star::star::star: Great job! I didn't personally like it too much but everyone has their own opinions but generally it was much more good than bad. My F4F is Marshy Dungeon of Mysteries

Pretty cool.
Only thing I didn't like was the spike walls at the end of the glass slides.
Cheap death, as I doubt many people could react in time on their first attempt.
