I was thinking about making an Indiana Jones tribute level.

You first have to find three keys to gain access to the mysterious temple. Once you get in, you're chased by a gigantic boulder, which you can only just barely escape. What then follows is a number of obstacles.

After these obstacles there should be another puzzle, but I have yet to decide on the details of that puzzle. After solving the puzzle, more obstacles, leading to some sort of boss battle. Once you have defeated the boss, you escape via a cart mine in a race to the end of the level.

What do you guys think? Any ideas are more than welcome, especially on the second puzzle and the boss fight.

Also, the level needs baddies. I was thinking about bats, snakes and other vermin that you'd normally find in a mysterious temple.

That just means that my level will have to be better than those other ones.

Sounds good!! I haven't seen a level blatantly Indiana Jones based yet, so I'd be interested in playing this without a doubt. Snakes a bit similar to the ones on the Temple levels made of wood would be good, but obviously not as big! And then there's the bouncy blue ones too, you could make some in that style. I like the 3 keys idea though, definitely.2008-10-28 19:46:00

The three keys part was actually the easiest to figure out.

Deciding on how and where to hide them is an entirely different matter, though

By the way, if anyone wants to help out or play online sometime, feel free to add me on PSN.

For the second puzzle how bout one of the other ancient temple goodies? A series of narrow beams suspended above a molten floor. You could space them apart just far enough to make a jump hard, but if you activate the sticker switch with a picture of a whip(that you found in another part of the temple), swing blocks fall from the ceiling on ropes so you can basically "whip swing" across!!2008-10-28 20:00:00

That's an interesting idea, but it's not really a puzzle. I could use this for the second "obstacle course" though.

Also, is there a whip sticker somewhere in the game? Or should I fashion one myself?

If I can remember this correctly and it's not too hard to do on the game, wasn't there something in one of the movies where if you stood on a "wrong" letter on a floor covered in letters that square fell and you went with it? That would be awesome.2008-10-28 20:18:00

I LOVE THIS IDEA!

I'm so putting this in, thank you for mentioning this. I'll have to think about which letters you should and should not stand on, though.

What was the word? I think that scene was from the third movie.

Oh honestly I can't remember, it was so long ago! Sorry. I must have been about 10 the last time I saw it, I'm sure it will be easy to find on google though, even Wikipedia could hold the answer [as much as I don't rely on it!]2008-10-28 20:26:00

I found the script online. The word that Indy had to spell out was "JEHOVA" but it was spelled with an "I" instead of a "J" in Latin.

Not sure if this would work, but we could pick another word and give a speech bubble hint just before the collapsing floor.

Yeah i think it is still a good idea to have something like that, its proper IJ. 2008-10-28 20:32:00

I totally agree with that. I'll just have to decide on the details later, but as it's pretty easy fo make a partially collapsing floor, this is definitely making it into my Indy level.

Thanks again for the excellent suggestion! If this gets big on LBP, I'll be sure to give credit where it's due.
