"A player failed to load your profile"

Archive: 13 posts

So, the last time I played LBP was last night. I was working on a vehicle to go in my new level. I saved the level, saved the game, then went on to bed. Today, my little brother called me and wanted me to play online with him. I got on, and started getting this "a player failed to load your profile" error message. I'm guessing people have encountered it before. Some time last year, but as I searched the web for a cure to this annoying little error, I find that MM hasn't said anything about it, and the only thing people can do for it is suggest deleting the game data utility and just using the save data utility.
In my case, that save data utility is about 9 months old or so, and would send me back pretty far as far as trophies go and such, worst of all, I'd loose not only the level I was working on last night, but the ones I've completed thus far.

Does anyone have a first hand experience with this bug, and an answer as to what to do for it? I'd really like to be able to play my game again and keep the trophies and levels I've gotten this year.

Well, I've experienced this many times before, and it isn't perminent.
As far as i know, it's just something that happens once or twice when you try to join somebody and that after a few tries, or by restarting your PS3, it's fixed.
It's nothing really serious or anything, it just happens because of temporary connection issues.

I suppose MM should try to fix it though, It's really annoying.. >.>

Just so we're clear, this is the bug that makes the game not even let your sackboy out of the tube at the beginning of game play, and not a glitch that makes it so you can't play online.2010-10-12 03:01:00

Oooh...
Well if it has nothing to do with not being able to join someone online, then i have no idea D:

That has happened to me before but it was a connection problem.
(I know it was because i turned off the game and started offline and everything was working fine.)

If you are connected wirelessly check the signal strength and see what's up.

First of, returning to a previous save won't do anything to trophies whatsoever, nor will it delete already published levels.
What you can do is back uo your data, publish all finished/ unfinished levels you haven't published (locked) so none will be lost, and put all your object stickers in one (or more if necesary) vault level(s) and publish it oo, now that that's set, do theprofile restoring thig, if that doesn't work, delete the game data utility, and reload the backup you made with all you had, if that doesn't solve it, Iit most likely is connection problems.

Before you do that tho, try joining a friend of his, or anyone else.
If you can join someone else, then get them to join him, but if you can't even join him like that, then may actually be a problem on HIS side.

Also remember to try joining im right before doing all that, as it may just be a random temporary bug.

Hope that helps!

This sounds like it may help, but I currently cannot access my game at all. Is there a way to back up my data from the PS3 menu?

I don't believe so. If you want to restore your profile from your last backup, and your current profile won't let you access the "Restore Profile" option, then it would seem that your only choice would be to delete your current profile.

If you have any more recent complete system backups made via the XMB's "Backup" system you could revert to that instead, but otherwise you're pretty much stuck with the last LBP profile backup you made.

Sounds like a major game flaw. If they're going to make your profile in the game utility menu, then they should make it save a back up of itself regularly aswell. Either way. I went ahead and just gave up. I loaded from my old profile and now I'm going to go back in and recollect all of the items I had before.

Frankly the whole nature of the PS3's closed architecture is a major flaw IMO, but there's very little you can do about it, so you either have to work within the system, or just don't use it, i.e. stick your PS3 in the bin and don't look back.

Otherwise, you're stuck with making regular backups of your profile data (ideally transferred onto a USB stick in case the whole machine dies), along with anything else which you would prefer not to lose.
