A Colourful Exploration
Archive: 26 posts
A Colourful ExplorationCheeze-Bo Sackboy travels to Rainbow Land and explores the Cyan Pike, Scarlet Race and Yellow Climb realms. This is my latest Solo level since Basketball (Mini-Game). I got a couple of people saying that maybe I should do a level by myself so I got down to business and ended up with 'A Colourful Exploration'. I tried to use all the tips on creating I've learn't from Jelly World: Snack Attack and the 12 Days of Christmas Project. I hope you like this level! Please rate and give hearts If I get around 3- 4 hearts I may make a sequel and add more sections and make the sections bigger | 2010-10-10 07:23:00 Author: CheezeBo Posts: 832 |
woah! In 1 hour I've got 5 plays, 3 stars and 2 hearts for this level. I know it's only five plays but still I'm pleased with it. I might begin work on another level as I'm going out for a long car journey today, so I may be able to make the level in the car, and publish when I get home I'd like to do more solo levels but I think the community ones get much better ratings and have a much bigger effect when it comes to popularity. So I guess I'll make a solo one today, and begin work on a new community project after the 12 Days of Christmas is finished. 9:42 - Now 8 plays, 3 stars and 3 hearts - I have now begun work on a sequel to this. I will include the colours, red, yellow, blue and green. The sections hopefully will be bigger than the originals. Maybe rather than doing a sequel I will just extend the sections? 10:41 - Now 10 Plays, 3 stars and 4 hearts. The extending of the level is going well. I'm now over half thermo! Wooo my first solo level to ever reach this high! I'm quite surprised by how many hearts I've got for 1 level! Is it just because you all want a sequel??? 10:46 - I've now added a poll to this thread. Please vote on it. I will either begin work on a sequel or carry on with my extensions when I go out in a couple of hours. | 2010-10-10 09:00:00 Author: CheezeBo Posts: 832 |

Just finished it for the 4th or 5th time. Got the highest score right now . It's 12363 (AgentEdward010). The level is very good . But... too short. I was expecting something BIG. But i want a sequel with a uh... better storyline. Yeah. That would be nice! But you did very good! | 2010-10-10 11:03:00 Author: EdwardTen Posts: 43 |
I think it might be best if I make a sequel. I know what went wrong in the first one, so I can correct that in the second one. I was planning on doing a story for the first one: there is a problem in each area that needs fixing, but I thought that might get a bit repetitive. May I could do these little grey monsters that are trying to take away all of the colour??? In other words, A Sequel is in the works | 2010-10-10 11:06:00 Author: CheezeBo Posts: 832 |
So many levels that need playing, and so little time... Good luck on the sequel! | 2010-10-10 12:23:00 Author: PygmyOwl Posts: 1316 |
I'll give your level a go Cheeze-Bo. *Booting up LBP* | 2010-10-10 14:40:00 Author: Spark151 Posts: 801 |
I think you should spend more than a day for creating, or your levels might end up like awespme's. | 2010-10-10 15:01:00 Author: HappyGreenCactus Posts: 247 |
Are you trying to finish a sequel in one day? Your crazy! I can't even finish a level in one day, my first level wasn't fished in one day neither. My least amount of time on finishing a level was 5 days, "R.I.P. Sack" and it didn't turn out the best either. XP Dude, spend a week corner editing everything. Also, figure out which should be the best materials to use too. When I saw this level, I was expecting something as good as "Color of Music" by eagerneph. Though, a tad plain once I really played it. You gotta give your level more feeling. Not just random stickers in one spot. Focus, and look through all your stickers to find that one sticker that helps a lot. Your Material Usage was a tad bit plain as well. It's okay, but you know whats different about your level and most Platformer's levels? All Thin Layers are used. Yeah, It helps add more Feeling. All you gotta do is trace a thin layer on your Thick Layers. The background stays as a background. The other two thin layers can be used to trace around the thick layers. It helps a lot. I think that's it. You did a great job, Cheeze-Bo, but you have to step up the game if you want to go far. Anyways, see you around again. | 2010-10-10 15:22:00 Author: Spark151 Posts: 801 |
Thanks for the little reference there Spark! Anyway, I gave this level a quick play and I didn't think it was that bad! I thought that the gameplay was actually quite fun. It kinda seemed like a showcase of different platforming experiences though. Because of the way that you had each little area on different stories. I think you could have added a little more to your visuals too. Like Spark said, tracing the thick layers with thin layers always adds a nice touch to the visuals. With my level "The Color of Music", I started it out after watching a group create a level on youtube. For a few months I didn't do anything with it, but then I picked it up again and changed it into something completely new. It was a great experience. Anyway, keep working hard and you could really have something here! | 2010-10-10 19:27:00 Author: eagerneph Posts: 1536 |

Thanks guys. Some brilliant feedback. I didn't get much done in the sequel today either. It's much better than the first this time. I've added a slight bit more of a story, the sections look better etc. | 2010-10-10 22:28:00 Author: CheezeBo Posts: 832 |
Update: 6:19AM - 7 hearts (WOAH!) 24 plays (Woop) and 3 stars (oooo...) I've finished the level up to the point of the 2nd section. I will go through it to make sure it isn't too plain afterwards though. I'm actually surprises at what a couple of people said, I was expecting it to be told in one way or another, that it was terrible: You did a great job, Cheeze-Bo, but you have to step up the game if you want to go far. I thought that the gameplay was actually quite fun! - It was a great experience. Anyway, keep working hard and you could really have something here! Anyway, thanks guys for all of the feedback etc. Also I've now got 8 creator hearts instead of 7. Did anyone hear give me one? I'll keep you guys posted on the sequel's create status. Thanks guys, it means a lot! When is the next spotlight? Just wondering for either this level or, more importantly, the sequel? | 2010-10-11 06:31:00 Author: CheezeBo Posts: 832 |
Hey cheesebo sorry for the late feedback Well first of all i have to say you are getting really good at creating, nice work with this level! I like the gameplay and the corner editing and i think your going to be one of the best creators if you keep this up. I gave the level 5 stars and the heart because your getting really good | 2010-10-11 07:14:00 Author: SketchNZ Posts: 1668 |
Woah! Thanks soooo much Sketch! One of the best creators?! WOOOOAAAAAHHHHHH!!! I'm sooo putting a quote of this into my sig now | 2010-10-11 07:19:00 Author: CheezeBo Posts: 832 |
I was wondering what colours to do in the sequel? So far I've got a green and started a red. I also wouldn't mind some very vague ideas for platforming. If you have anything for these, please post a reply on this thread or PM me. Thanks! 7:45 - I've just noticed that another person has played it and has boosted up the ratings to 4 STARS! Woop! Thanks guys! | 2010-10-11 19:35:00 Author: CheezeBo Posts: 832 |
Try a black and then another blue. But instead of doing the level with that elevator, connect the sections. EDIT: Just noticed your message. As for your level, I'd say it had nice gameplay, but it was to short. Also, you should use more score bubbles and less prize bubbles. | 2010-10-11 20:19:00 Author: HappyGreenCactus Posts: 247 |
Ok i got a ton ideas but im thinking about making a colouring book level so i wont give you all of my ideas, you could add, Paintballs/coloured gas falling, maybe mix the colours to make like red and blue sections or green and yellow, White sections you have to put stickers on/colour in, Try Full Thermo if you havn't be4. | 2010-10-11 20:22:00 Author: SketchNZ Posts: 1668 |
I may have like a 'rainbow' or 'blender' section. I quite like the idea of naming the section, ' Blender .........' I need something that rhymes/sounds like blender. Any suggestions? EDIT: Thanks Sketch. I like the idea of stickering the white section. Although that may be to much like the hotel levels, where you make your own rooms. I may try for at least a fair bit over half thermo, if not full. Thanks Cactus! | 2010-10-11 20:23:00 Author: CheezeBo Posts: 832 |
I'll be sure to check this out CB! Are you trying to finish a sequel in one day? Your crazy! I can't even finish a level in one day, my first level wasn't fished in one day neither. My least amount of time on finishing a level was 5 days, "R.I.P. Sack" and it didn't turn out the best either. XP Heh, I managed to complete one of my most popular levels in a mere two days actually... *cough*Frostbite*cough* I may have like a 'rainbow' or 'blender' section. I quite like the idea of naming the section, ' Blender .........' I need something that rhymes/sounds like blender. Any suggestions? Splender Blender? | 2010-10-11 21:05:00 Author: Fastbro Posts: 1277 |

Visuals were great but gameplay was ehhh. I gave it :star: :star: :star:. Your getting really good at creating keep on workin! Thanks! I'm trying to use some different gameplay, I've made one 'boss' that uses a box and you have to move it about to jump off it to hit the boss's 'brains' (the actual brains from the tools pop-it) blenders are awesome! I know Current Level Stats: 6:14AM - 3 stars, 7 hearts and 27 plays. After having these comments: Your getting really good at creating keep on workin! Anyway, keep working hard and you could really have something here! Well first of all i have to say you are getting really good at creating, nice work with this level! I like the gameplay and the corner editing and i think your going to be one of the best creators if you keep this up. I am tempted to delete all of my published level that either I don't like, aren't important, or you guys don't like and make a 'new start' with only levels that are good (-ish) If you could please tell me, that would be great I think I'll keep Jelly World 1, 2 and A Colourful Exploration. Any others that you think I should keep? Thanks guys for all of these reviews and help on the sequel! CheezeBo | 2010-10-12 06:26:00 Author: CheezeBo Posts: 832 |
