Fun Fact: I heard "Atlas" Battles when it's commercial time on Adult Swim on Cartoon Network. I was shocked to even hear it there. Pretty famous song.

The song wasn't created for LBP. LBP asked Battles' permission to use it. The song pre-dates the game and was released in 2007, I believe.

Maybe the became more famus cuz of LBP Most likely you just didn't recognize the songs or care about them before you [played LBP, now that you do you hear them and know them, thus making you think they've been played in more places when its just you starting to notice them from outside LBP. Aye, and the song wasn't an LBP-specific song, nor was it created for it, the song has had existed long bofore the game, Mm just got the song because it seems to have fit their criteria, that's all.
