Jungle FeverNick930930
http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee489/Nick930930/APhoto.jpgA Jungle Themed platforming level with several creative obstacles, extremely detailed design with use of all 7 layers and stickers/decorations, linear story progression, and even secret prizes and score bubbles for those perfectionists out there Please enjoy and give honest reviews/feedback. I feel this level deserves more plays than it's recieved due to the amount of work me and my friends put in.

I just played your level & heres my feedback:

Positives:
+Scenary looked good
+Visuals were great
+Gameplay went very smooth
+Puzzles were well done
+Platforming was fun
+Liked the Boss

Negatives:
-Boss fight had a flaw in it, when you die & spawn from the checkpoint you can stay inside the checkpoint & have it block the boss attacks at you.

Overall the level is Pretty good::star::star::star::star::star:

Hey just played your level there its pretty great and DEFINITELY deserves more plays!!!! It's very lockstitch-ey (thats a compliment!) with all it's layers and platforms. There was one glitch but it was very small... When you arrive at the second zebra sponge circle I accidentally dragged it into the hole before pulling the switch to let the platform down. I had to restart because the zebra sponge was gone!! My fault really but it would be easy to put an emmiter at its start position incase ny1 else does it cos its a bit of a pain having to restart a level over something small.

Not really any big flaws in it to be honest it seems very polished and def deserves its :star::star::star::star::star:'s. <3'ed too for good measure

Actually, i already have an emitter there. If you looked carefully, there's a zebra sponge directly above where you grabbed the zebra sponge circle. All you had to do was grab that to emit another key. I will try and make this clearer though.

Also, in response to the comment about the boss, I will have Pink_panther take a look at that. That's an easy fix, just need to adjust the proxy sensor. We tested to see if that checkpoint stayed out, but it never did for us. Not sure how it did for you but that diserves a check. Thanks for the honest reviews.

Yes i based the level off of Lockstiches style, i love his levels and feel that they are easily the best in the Little Big Planet. (MY OPINION!)

- I think the level logo would look better with a circular/square design. Current one looks squished to me, you tried that sticker trick?
+ Cool how those platforms rotated and bounced.
+ The thin layer corner editing behind the moving spike balls make it look more interesting than usual.
+ Love the simple leaf decorations surrounding the checkpoint caves.
- (Waterfall) The branch above the manual bouncy one has a gap to the left you can fall down.
- Some layer switching annoyance near top of water fall. (fall into back layer on the right somewhere)
- What the heck. Why is there point bubbles in the spikes??
(edit: Oh. For when the water rises. Totally distracting, I would take them out.)
- Why can you not go into the back layer?? Anything that looks walkable should be.
+ Water section with the boss, awesome, never seen that before.

I'm kinda sick of the whole "switches of course" abstract deal. But I know I'm in the minority so...yeah.
I'm sure 99% of other people will eat this up.

EDIT:
By "Switches of Course" I mean the now generic pull switch, watch effect, platform, repeat.
I feel it's just a way to artificially increase the length of the level, but that's just me.

- I'll fix thegap behind that bouncing branch
-I'm experiencing no layer switching issues, and nobody else has reported anything like that
-Point bubbles are staying. They are distracting but that's the point
-Back layer remains unaccessable to keep players in the front plane. I could easily hide that back layer, but then detail and design would suffer and the boss would look flat and ugly.

Thanks for honest review. But I'm not quite sure what you mean about "Switches of Course"
The game was designed to use switches, buttons, and sensors. I'm not gonna take all the switches away so that everything activates itself. Then all you have to do is walk straight through the level lol

Patch 1.3: Details

-Stickers can no longer be placed anywhere in the level. This was done to prevent spammers from posting pictures of profanity and uploading them. Sorry for those who actually wanted to post appropriate stickers, but someone spoiled that for you.

-2nd Zebra Ball Key now has a text bubble that appears that tells the player how to respawn a lost zebra ball key.

-Tree branches at waterfall were adjusted. You can now no longer fall behind them as this was very frustrating and common for players

Hey, I thought this level was very enjoyable. Good use of layers plus a lot of polish = 5stars. Keep it up, your levels are very good. (I played Joint Effort as well)2010-10-09 20:17:00

This level seems to be getting some popularity, I want to try it out now. And especially if Lockstitch gave it 5 stars! Later tonight when I pump up my PS3 I'll give it a shot and tell you want I think, since everyone is entitled to my very important opinion.

By the way, your breath smells.

What can I do to help make the boss more complex as many of you have suggested? I feel that the boss matches the levels difficult rather well 2010-10-10 15:44:00

Dude enough bumping your first bump was 3 hours after a post. Even if your thread isn't at the top 24/7, it doesn't mean no one can see it. You need to calm down, and considering this is getting a lot of popularity, why not give some other levels a bit of it huh?

Anyway, I loved the level, gave it :star::star::star::star::star:. I loved the visuals, and the boss fight at the end was fun, although as its been stated I could cheat a little bit.

WOW!!! Very fun level!! Nice to a fun platforming level that goes back to the basics, elaborates, and comes up with something original!! :star::star::star::star::star: <3

Pros
-very fun platforming
-simple yet elegant visuals
-a small yet fun story
-good length
-fun platforming

cons
-the boss fight is, well, ok. Its fun for sure, but it could use some more strategy.
-one of the times when i grabbed onto a sponge that was attached to a winch that took me up, i let go accidentally and got stuck for a little while back in a different layer. Might wanna check that out.

Other than that, great job!!!

P.S. My level, Mr. Pollock's Dream, is in my sig.

A very fair review Dr_murk. I agree with everything you say. The boss could of used more work, but to be honest, it really was a last minute kinda thing we put in. From seeing all the logic that goes into making that boss... i can't imagine it being any MORE complicated. All in all, a simple boss with 4 different attacks for me makes the level seem just as important as its ending.

As for that layer error you got.. I know EXACTLY what your talking about.. and honestly was hoping nobody would notice lol. I think if i add spikes onto that back layer, it will fix that. It happens very often with more than 1 player because people like to grab onto eachother and make a big monkey chain lol

It means you bumped your pages out of the normal.

You still need to post a few pics...or I may never play it. Also 4 stars and 15 hearts is nothign to complain about...one star and no hearts is something to complain about...also stop being lazy and do some F4F proactively...then when you get feedback back you can complain.

celsus i am not being lazy... i'm a reviewer on Little Big Land and i do a crap load more than just give feedback lol. I have 2 reviews in progress, I was trying out all the spotlighted, and i have only 3 F4F levels to try out. Also, i posted some pics on my thread in little big land. Well I have never gotten feedback from you, but then again I am talking smack...so the feedback may be more biased...then again that may make it more critical...always was tempted to give a realllllly bad review and then find out how bad my levels really are.

As far a little big land...your in LBPC...and while I hardly use LBP forums I would not consider reviews over there as an excuse to bump my threads...now get off your lazy hinder and stop review'n on that there forum and hit up here stead of bump'n...at least put in some updates when you bump or tell a joke.

also http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/ee489/Nick930930/APhoto_1.jpg ...really how hard was that?

Your level gets moved automatically when it reaches 20 posts. But over half of posts are from you...double and triple posting and bumping your thread on purpose. There are rules against bumping. Isuggest you use the edit post button.2010-10-11 05:48:00

Shookie.. you talk to me through Little Big Land already. Why are you even posting here.

And Celsus, you never ASKED for feedback. I have only 3 people on this thread who have written a level name down for me to give feedback to. If you'd like feedback, then provide a level name.

Lol, I didn't give you feedback yet on your level, so you don't owe me feedback, just saw your bumps so I figured I would talk a little smack. You could always check out one of my levels, then I would be forced to give you feedback too and not jsut talk smack, but honestly just having fun...that and I really do like Spike Lee's movies...so this level name had me looking.2010-10-11 15:30:00

Yeah you mentioned "Spike Lee" before. What is that exactly? I never heard of his work. I just picked the name for the level because it was the first jungle related phrase that came to mind lol. And unlike others, if i give you feedback, it doesn't require you to give me feedback, i don't mind lol. Its not like this level is that important, i just thought people would be interested in a level that isn't the same old "Shark Survival" sillyness.

What's your PSN/Level name?
