Haha, I haven't played Spore in a while and I randomly decided that I would attempt to create a sackbot from Spore's building editor! I think it turned out quite nicely! What do you think?

Has anyone here ever played spore before?

I recall that making buildings that looked like statues was quite a challenge in that game,
so I applaud your ability to recreate a sackbot so accurately

I used to seriously be obsessed with Spore...
but that was before I had LBP

I enjoyed making creatures themselves more than anything else though, even more than spaceships.

Gosh I can't tell you how obsessed I used to be with spore. Spore was my life for a little while. I was getting good at it too! But I kinda got tired of it one day and I haven't played it much since.

Great replica! I played a good bit of spore. Spore had so much potential, but I don't think it reached it, ending up as a series of repetitive minigames.

Then again, i liked the civ stage.

But here's a cool thing to do:
1. Have a decent civilisation in a the space stage, and get lots of planet editting tools with it.
2. Start one of your other planets (preferably nearby to your advanced civilisation) directly into the space stage, and note down the co--ordinates of the planet. don't save the planet though!
3. Find the planet with your other civilisation.
4. Add oceans over areas of each major landmass (I believe the maximum number of edits for the planet that will be saved is three, so make them count!)
5. Start your planet in the civ stage. When I did this, every city had a port, so I could make use of my pirate species and have some good 'ole fun naval battles!

Still up there above LBP as the best creator game in my book. Haven't played it in a while, although I have been obsessed with it at times. I have about 80% of the achievements, including the 100 hours play time one.

Anyway, love the sackbot, although he would look better with eyes.

I was looking through all of my past creations and I found this!! I thought this would be a good DLC so I made this on spore.

The only problem with a Starfox pack is that Starfox is Nintendo, and since classic Nintendo stuff has never before shown up in other consoles, and since Sony and Nintendo are competing with Microsoft for the VG market, MM made Starfox costumes dont seem likely.

However, the creature is most especially good, a very good sporkboy(see it's funny because I combined Spore with sackboy).

Hehe... nice one there. And yea, Nintendo and PS don't go together sadly. We do have Sonic, however Sonic is Sega. Sega is everyone's friend I guess. 2010-10-11 01:42:00

I really wish we did get Nintendo characters. As you can probably tell from my username, I want Kirby.

I always sorta wanted Spore, but never got it. Ah well, SackBot looks cool

Spore rocks! The building is cool--someone should make a sackboy creature now 2010-10-11 21:42:00

Sweet. Shame Spore was such a let down.

Spore was better at E3 2 or 3 years before it was released than it is now. 3:

Really? It's up there as "Most disappointing video game ever" in my book. I was folowing it from the very first announcement and then when it came it turned out to be so much less than it promised

The procedural creatures were awesome, it's just that the gameplay was pure mediocrity.

@the OP: That sackbot is cool though, and very impressive

Urg, I totally agree. I too followed it from the first announcement.
All the game stages looked really awesome and in-depth. Then when it was released, it was effectively just 4 mini-games leading up to an average space sim.
The Cell stage is K, can't really change it much. But why are so many parts hidden from the player? There are about 3 or 4 pages of parts in a hidden cell editor.
Creature stage is just like WoW for dummies.
Tribe & Civ are severely watered down RTS games. Civ could have been amazing, but you're limited to 1 land, 1 naval and 1 air unit and they all work the same as the rivals vehicles, so there's no strategy.
And Space is cool, but still too simple.

The editors themselves are fantastic, it's just a shame the way the game uses them isn't really that clever. For a tank, for instance, you can just make a war blob with wheels on the roof and guns facing backwards and it still handles the exact same.

Poor show on EA/Maxis. Should have seen it coming, I guess.

Well, the galactic adventures pack added on a lot of cool stuff, buut as for the original game.. I gotta agree with you. Kinda a let down. The only reason I kept playing is because I loovveedd creating things for the community. It ended up being a lot like LBP, but instead of levels, I just shared creatures and buildings.

Edit: They are coming out with a game called "Darkspore" however. It's supposed to be some kind of rpg, it looks interesting.
