A Mechanized Ultimatum (Working Title) (Beta)

I've been working on a level the past week, made quite a bit of progress, and I'm ready to start some testing! Let it be known, the level is not done! I'm just giving early access to determine bugs and get some feedback every step of the way.

This has easily been the most fun level I've ever worked on. It's just been a level full of personal firsts too. It's the first level I've made that has actual puzzles, includes the paintinator as a main component of gameplay, and has some timed sections. Some parts will get a little challenging, but I think this will be very fun to play when it's done.

If you obtain a key for the level, be sure to check back every few days to look at the additions. Also, if you have access to the level, please leave feedback here on this thread. I want the level to be as good as possible, and all of you need to give me the feedback so I can fix everything. The level will be partly made by all of you!

Questionable Part(s):
1. The "Back-and-Forth" platform/shooting section

Possible Issues:
1. Lag in multiplayer can cause problems with the level

It sounds like a lot of responsibility, but it really isn't. Just play the level, have fun, and give me some feedback.

No problem! I will probably end up working on the level for a while longer, so just play when you have time and check back on it every few days.

NOTE: The level will always have an "Date of Last Update" in the title, so you will always know if you're playing the most current version.

So I just played the level and here are some of my thoughts

-really good gameplay. I liked the part where you had to grab different switches to get the paintinator!
-I'm liking the color scheme you have going on
-no bugs to report so far.

As for the back and forth section, try to extend the time by at least .5 . It'll make it easier for rookies
And just from the top of my head, I thought of "Black and White Blueprints. Kinda matches the color scheme as a said before! Mhmm. There's my 2 cents !

Thanks a lot, royal! Glad you liked the gameplay. I think I'm going to agree with you on adding about half a second to the timed section. It would be a bit more welcoming to the lesser skilled.

I feel dumb asking this, but when you say blue and white blueprints, are you referring to another level or the blueprints themselves? Hahaa! I've never heard of a level by that name... Lol

It was a great level! Puzzles are hard to do in LBP but you seemed to nail them.
The only bug I found was the first puzzle can be completed without the paintanator, you can just jump up and pull the switch. (although it is very hard to do, so not many people will find out).
The jumps were fine from me, although like royalxpirate said, you should probably slow them down for less experienced players, so they don't rage quit and rate it 1 star ;P
Finally, I like the way you made it, (the colour scheme and the layout), and you should add some more puzzles with hazards, so that the excitement levels will stay up.
Overall, a great level, definitely 5 star material if you keep it up.

Thanks a lot Layabouts! I fixed one of the puzzles, added time to the back and forth section, and added a new section today. You may not have played the newest version with the mega awesome upgrade, but I do need to take a look at the first one. It "should" be an easy fix. Hahaa!

Glad you enjoyed it too. I will gladly add more puzzles with hazards, I actually have one in mind! Thanks for the great suggestions!

I liked your level so far. I had the last update, but from that, everything seemed good, and my only problem was fixed. (Back-and-forth obstacle). But as of now, it seemed much to short and I think a boss fight at the end would work well. I'll test it out again tomorrow with some better updated feedback.2010-10-08 02:15:00

Oh, it's not even close to done. I've got ideas bouncing off every wall of my brain! It won't be done for a few weeks I would assume.

Also, I like the idea of a boss, but I really don't know how I'd work it into the level. I really just wanted to go "story free" on this level. I'm not quite sure if I'm sure if a boss would be of my best interest, but we'll see. If others think it would improve the level, I may just consider it.

By the way, is everyone liking the newest puzzle. The one with the two platforms from the floor and one from the top? Just hoping it didn't seem too tacky.

Thanks! I'm happy with the visuals myself. I was planning to add a little bit of flare later on, in terms of theck glass. As for parallel the the Gekko Skin; it really isn't. It's close, but not parallel. ;]

I broke the piston at the very beggining, but don't worry about it, it took me 15 minutes and 4 people, a lot of luck, and a lot of timing.

I haven't given up yet, but I've been sucked in by the beta...

I haven't even put the LBP1 disk in the PS3 for a month. I'll be back on task when the beta ends.

And I would also like to see it with the movers, but the beta's profile import was a little broken and my level didn't get ported over...
