I'd love to see LBP Paint

A DLC simple paint program like MS Paint. Nothing flashy, but enough that we could make our own stickers and import them to LBP 2. Since it would be a MM program, there would be no issue with importing copywrited content since they could implement their own file format.2010-10-06 01:02:00

Actually the whole "Copyright" issue isnt file format issues, its issues of someone grabbing a pic of mario and throwing it in there then sony/MM getting sued due to having copyrighted material in the game.2010-10-06 02:52:00

Why don't you make one?

There is already one? it's same as in LBP1 but with cursor, and you can pick color and other functions using buttons

Anyone played Skate 2?

I'd love something like that (if not one in-game) where you went on the internet and designed a logo and you could put it on your skateboard, T-shirt etc.

For LBP we could just import those into the game. I really want to make a sticker but have the edges hug the edge of the picture instead of being a rectangle.

Food for thought ;P

It's not only copyright problem (painting stickers is not huge copyright problem, Forza 3 has this tools and thee was no issues as i know), but marketing problem too, they sell stickers as DLC, with custom stickers any kind of such DLC becomes obsolete. So if they want to keep value of DLC that they have now and still make money from it thee won't be any kind of import or paint functions2010-10-06 12:56:00

That's not what I meant. If you could not upload images to LBP Paint and the files were "mynewpic.lbp" then jpgs, etc, could not be uploaded to the game.

This would not be too hard to make in LBP2.

Just have a grid of squares that can change colour according to inputs (you would need only red, green and blue holographic material I think) on a black background. Now make a system whereby placing a certain tag next to a square changes the colour value of that square. Then a tool that draws a green line just has to be something that emits a "green" tag that sweeps along a line. A fill tool just has to be something that emits tags everywhere. A circle tool just has to be a tag on a motor bolt that spins round once.

Now set the camera to zoom out far enough that the squares are quite small, and set flatness to 100%. Make a photobooth to take a photo and make sure sackboy is hidden, and all other light sources are turned off, and you have a sticker of your drawing.

Make a RGB display in-game? You're viewing the whole game from an RGB display

*Some* people might use that method, if you make a HD enough one with oh-so-many-pixels and spread it wide around though.

It isn't complicated for us on paper, but think of the poor Thermo

I think I still make my custom stickers the old way.

I don't think theres sense to make RGB display if you can use just holos instead It's to much effort and waste of thermo2010-10-10 18:48:00

i just don't get why everyone needs to jump to conclusions. its called SPECULATION and suggestions for a reason people. i for one think this is a great idea!

so what if MM loses money on DLC stickers? its not like they cant sell something else (and believe me, people will buy anything), so in the end everyone wins.

as for copy right, we can already make figures resembling sonic and Mario, so i see no problem making our own drawings of them :3

the only problem i see with this is actually drawing everything, the ps3 controller isn't known for that kind of accuracy after all :/

i was thinking something like that too.. instead mine was you drag a sticker while drawing with it so you can colour more detailed unlike the old way where you stick a big white sticker and paint with a different material and colour that one. it would be neat if they allowed you to do this in-game

I hate to say it but just making models in a level made just for stickers, and then capturing them works 100% for me, not saying my stickers are great at all, but I have been able to make ones that fit my levels really good, this program runs like a vector art program, and thus works better than MS paint...excluding the ps3 controller moving on its own and the annyingly bright center dot of the pop-it (I really hope that can be dimmed in the next version). Editing the edges to the sctickers could be nice, but I am fine with how it is. Just for pictures put it in front view (not game) and you will lose most all shadows, and then makesure your image is not too big for the game to start freaking out on losing details.
But made stickers with more detail than this...

using this system. Cool thing about vector versus MS paint style is you can resize the items in your sticker with out losing detail...and that is like LBP to "some" degree.

Not saying an art program would not work, just that there are advantages in using a several layer system (you basically have 7 layers to draw on with out drawing over parts of your creation).

As for all the people saying they'll lose profit from the aspect of loss of DLC appeal let me just say, they've already done this before. I know I liked getting new DLC packs just to see what music would be in there, because I like having a variety of music. But now that aspect of DLC has lost some of it's appeal with the addition of sequencer. So who's to say they won't give us something to empower us more?
I mean, MM isn't exactly known as a greedy company, so I do not understand why you are treating them as such.
Besides they could always stick to new level packs for DLC if they really wanted too. I mean I for one would probably be willing to shell out a few bucks if some Molecules released some themed levels of some sort.

LukeCF, But reality is different, corporations are not gods ,they need money and and to able to do more stuff they need more money, specially for game developers that sometimes make game once for the year, also they use licensed content on DLC and it's hard to find any trademark holder to give you licence for something that not give profit
Also keep in mind that sequencer never overcome possibilities of professional audio software and always will have better tone. Stickers on other hand are mostly vector based same as LBP level, and look what people are able to do with it already.
