I am currently making a 2p level, and am making a part where one player holds down a button which turns on a spotlight and a strip of invisible dark matter to give the appearance of walking across the light, however, this means I need the invisible strip of dark matter to be emitted whilst one player is on the button, and stop bring emitted the second the player jumps off the button, I know I could set it to 0.1s intervals, but I don't want the sound contantly blaring out as the dm dissolves Is there any way around this? | 2010-10-05 23:18:00 Author: Pete1991 Posts: 225 |
You can use the music note sound object (the white one) to create an empty sound. Set it to "e drum hi-hat" and then use the d-pad (not the thumbstick) to tweak the pitch up. At 3 or 4 ticks to the right, it won't make any sound (I can never remember exactly how many ticks: just move it to the right until it gets quiet). Set it to "on destruction" and stick it on your emitted bridge. Now it won't make any sound when it disappears. | 2010-10-06 01:00:00 Author: Sehven Posts: 2188 |

It kinda depends on the surrounding area as to how easily you can do this option but this sounds like a job for demitters. I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that it was rtm223 who made a tutorial on how to do something like that on lbp. Its a level, just go search his name & look for demitters. Not as hard as it sounds really. If that doesn't help let me know. Ive actually worked on something kinda similar & it went fairly well. | 2010-10-06 07:22:00 Author: Unknown User |
Demitters are nice for a variety of applications, but in this case, the concept the op described is perfectly servicable. His only problem with it was the noise, and demitters make the same noise emitters ('cuz that's what they are ). | 2010-10-06 07:33:00 Author: Sehven Posts: 2188 |

Lol,ok.I guess I rather presumptuously thought there was more to the problem. Oops. On a side note:Thats good to know too.I actually didnt realize "on destruction" canceled out the sound as much as drowned it out. Pretty useful. | 2010-10-06 09:03:00 Author: Unknown User |
