Elemental Enigma: The Introroyal_pirate
http://i415.photobucket.com/albums/pp232/bass_kidd/APhoto_5.jpg"Wake up in a cryo-chamber without much of a memory. All you can feel is the tingle in your threads and an icy hot on your back."
This is the introduction to my upcoming series, Elemental Enigma. It's a little platformer with a story containing small secrets in small corners. Pay attention to the cutscenes too! At the end of the level, you're given a choice. A vital one, at that. There's not much you learn in this episode, but as you play through each level, your memories of who you are and where you came from will soon be remembered. (Currently, only the ending on the left is available. Sorry!)

Leave some feedback, if you'd like! I would love to hear from you

Pretty hard to promote an "indie" level 2010-10-09 06:09:00

Regarding promoting your level, here are a few tips I might suggest:
1) Take advantage of the F4F option, and by that I mean use it, and actively do F4F for other levels. Just for playing someone elses level and giving them some feedback, you're pretty much guaranteed the same in return, and that's a plus in my book.
2) Let users around the forum know about your level. The spotlight crew has to play every level as part of their duties, and if you ask for some feedback they might jot down a few notes while they play. Other members (like myself) play any level that we get info on. If anyone sends me a PM, I'll give them some feedback for free, and I know there are others out there who are willing to do the same. Friends are good feedbackers as well- leave a message on their profile page, and they're probably more likely to play your level. After all, they're not going to check it out if they don't know its there!

Now regarding your level...

You start the level with a warning not to skip cutscenes- I immediately skip this of course, and then proceed to get confused in two locations The first being the platform where he learns of his abilities. I got up there, read the first speech bubble, then jumped off the platform. At this point I realized "oops, that was a cutscene," and watched the rest. Then I got to the tube where our hero admits he doesn't know anything. This time, determined not to be caught off guard, I decided to wait it out. Then, a little bit later, I realized that this bubble wasn't a cutscene. If you could differentiate between the two, such as making the "non cutscene" mouths not have a camera, it would help. There was also one speech bubble stating that the containers were discarded Fleur containers, and this one kinda threw me off. I found it odd, in the midst of all the story telling, that there was a bubble just pointing out the scenery.

And speaking of the scenery, yours was hard to classify You have some very cool effects and designs (I love the Ice walk and the door on the right of the elevator particularly)... but not all the time. There are some areas which feel empty, and even though this is supposed to be a super clean facility of some sort, that doesn't mean you have to keep everything the same. For instance, you start out with the little platforms, and a blank wall behind it. But on both the left, and the right, you have some nice looking glass designs. Why not spice up that wall a bit- add some more glass bits, or power cables, or tubes, or some sort of lab symbol- blank walls aren't as fun to look at The cutscenes where the facility floods could also be improved a litte- maybe use some rockets (they make a great wind/gas effect), rising water, falling rubble, Fleur flying everywhere (not sure whether this is solid, gaseous, or liquid... but whatever's appropriate) to give the feel that what you're doing is having a real effect on the world, and that you have to get out of the facility NOW. It's really little effects like these which can make a good level become an amazing one

Overall, this was a good level. A bit short, and there are things that could be improved here and there, but there were some nice effects, and the lure of a story which keeps the player amused. I gave the level :star::star::star: as it is, with a few touch ups, I'd easily rate it a 4. Looking forward to number 2, send me a PM when you want some feedback

I've given both this level and Cathedral De Ignis a try.
Pretty cool stuff; I liked the visuals and the mechanics.

Here are videos I recorded of the levels:

Ohhh thank you so much Gilgamesh for recording my levels! I feel so honored
Yes, please look forward to this series since the next level is expected to be released late November or early December. It's gonna be a boss level, so it'll be a big part of the series!! It'll also reveal a lot of the storyline & about who "she" is
Once again, thank you!
