Dragonvarsity Blogger Interview.

Archive: 3 posts

Well first off I would like to apologize about not knowing Dragonvarsity had a Whooping 29 creator interviews.
I could only see 8 creator interviews, if you could it would be awesome if you could reply and post a link to where we can read the other 21 interviews. Onto the interview!

Dragonvarsity is most probably famous due to his creator interviews on LBPC, just look up his blog once you have the chance.

You have posted 10 blog entries 8 of which are creator interviews (a great read to boot), what made you decide to start interviewing creators?

Well, I've read Little Big Land for a while now and I remember them starting a new section called Creator Interviews. Unfortunately there were only 2 and then it dissapeared. I was thinking of adding a new type of post one day and thought to do creator interviews since LBL sadly stopped theirs.

Out of all the levels of the creators that you interviewed which is/was your favourite and why?

Ooh, this is a very tough one indeed, never been good at picking my favorite but I hope giving you my favorites are okay I definitely think all the "OH NO!!! THE PRINCESS!!" levels make the list with some amazing gameplay, so if you're ever bored and love a challenge, I'd definitely try those out. Also, Up and Away in Sky Town, even though it didn't have insane logic, the most beautiful details or so much gameplay, it's a very calm level and very unique, I thought the gameplay with the ballooon was fantastic and the music fit perfectly.

Also, Luos_Desruc's "Sack the Legendary" series had one of the most interesting stories and the lighting was gorgeous. Duffluc's "The Odyssey Part 2 A and B" makes the list with a stunning job with details including a marvelous job with the 3D glitch, some great gameplay, even though the boss seemed hard those roman characters were well designed . Hmm... sorry if I've forgotten some but I also need to add "Shoot! Jump! Die?" by Jackofcourse, "LIBI FORCE 2" but I forgot the creator's name , "DRAGON SLAYER" series by Centurion24 and Jaeyden, "Sky Factory 2" by Steve_big_guns and probably more

Are there any projects you are working on? What are you going to do for your 10th interview?

A little confused for this. Sorry but I wanna point out I've done 29 creator interviews but also, of course I'm working on Codename Change with you, Cave Chaos but not with anyone particularly yet at least but lots of friends have stopped by and helped some and a Halloween level with my friend but haven't gotten to create with him much.(he's going to be publishing the level so it's kinda important to be at his moon ) Oh and also, I've had this idea for a series for a while involving traveling through dimensions of time. Here's what I've got

There is a boy named Krion,(don't know exactly what age he should be, thinking around 16) and he lives with his mother in the woods, hunting, fishing, gathering berries, etc. His brother fought against the king or whoever(still thinking) but was never seen again. is dad did a lot of adventuring like his dad or Krion's grandfather. Unfortunately, one night, there was a horrible storm and his father was out at sea and the storm was crazy and so were the waves. A dragon flew by of one of his friends to get his whole crew away.(yes, dragons. It's medieval times ) But then it seemed the dad got sucked into the water somehow(as you can see, I'm still thinking) and there was a whirlpool. The whirlpool stopped but the storm raged on and they couldn't find him. They had to go or they might be a goner like he was. so he is presumed dead but Krion thinks otherwise.

His grandfather still lives and comes to share amazing things he's discovered with Krion and Krion's mother but the mother, dad and grandad need names :/ Anyway, I'm thinking of a story for Krion to have to get out of the forest.(Not he needs to start his journey, that might sound lame) He does decide when out of the forest and facing a problem, he could at least try to find his dad so decides to try to talk with his Dad's best friend, Dr. Benjamin Largin, a proffessor who isn't very wealthy but is very smart and has studied wormholes for most of his life, believing there's another way to travel trough, as we call it, the multiverse. That's all I can say for now because I don't have much more than that

When and how did YOU get lbp?

Well, it was last year and it was close to christmas. Since we were going to a relative's house and celebrate christmas there, we celebrated some at home the 23rd since we'd drive over the 24th. I don't really like getting presents but choosing myself so I got money instead but my brother and I both got a PS3 and an extra controller . We went out to gamestop, my brother decided to buy Modern Warfare 2 and I decided to buy LBP Game of the Year Edition. See, I had an Iphone and to waste time, plyed a game called Pocket God, a fun little game where you torture these islanders, even though I played Doodle Jump more Anyway, there was a blog so I decided to follow it. ( I didn't know how to eactly yet so I just read it which counted to me.) One time they made a post saying here are some videos of levels created for pocked god in little big planet. It sounded interesting and I was wondering how they had tha cool islander costume. The level looked really cool and I learned a bit more about it so that's why I decided to get it. Thanks Dave and Allen or I probably wouldn't have ever got this game (Creators of Pocket God)

What does the name Dragonvarsity mean to you?

It means great memories and my favorite mythical creature. First, I think Dragons are amazing and I got the name when I was younger and there was a T-shirt saying Dragonsvarsity and I misread it as Dragonvarsity and have stuck by it ever since.

What is the first thing you will do in LBP2?

Well, probably play the introduciton of course but I don't know. I probably will first play through the story and some community levels before hopping in create unless I follow a friend who goes into cretae. I know it's supposed to be much easier but I still can't see myself making these amazing animations or huge levels.

What is your favourite section on LBPC?

Ooh, also tough. I think that the level showcase is great but it's sad that lot sof levels aare left behind. I do think F4F is a genius idea and can definitely get some great feedback and I try to give feedback on levels every so often. But besides that, the forum games is great, too bad so many are being made that I just don't care for. Oh and the Ideas and Projects Lots of interesting things being made and good if you wanna test levels.

Do you have any tips on how to break a level?

Hmm, a very interesting quesiton, one you don't expect to be asked . Hmm, for breaking a level, look for cracks, try as hard to get on top of things, maybe there's some way to escape a level, try changing layers, grabbing things that shouldn;t be grabbed. Oh and try getting things broken, see if they'll re-appear somehow if they do. But yes, these tactis have worked well after escaping "Kitchen Katastrophy" by Foofles, finding some cracks and places that should have gas but then it was added when beta testing "Vile Anchorage" by Lockstitch or when my paintinator enhancemenet broke in "LBPC: The Game Level 6 The Help Temple" which made me not bale to stop Killian.

You seem to play LBP non stop, do you play any other games?

Not really, Little Big Panet's my only game on the PS3, I used to play on my Iphone but that's the thing of the past. There was this interesting game called "Fate", a great HP Game where you collect different weapons and all, gain dexterity, strength, etc., get your own pet, do tasks and go deeper into the dungeon.

Favorite Genre of levels in LBP?

Probably just a good old platformer, with some great gameplay, yeah.

Thanks for intevriewing me Rouriki, even though I'm not very good at creating but intead I blog . Since I'm too lazy to put links to all the other creators I've interviewed, here's a link to a dead thread of mine showing most of my creator intevriews. Since I was the last one to post, just incase if anyone was reading, I edited my post each time a new interview came out and eventually stopped since it took up time and you can get an infraction for bumping anyway plus I was keeping interviews in my sig at the time and made an LBPC blog version. Here's the link to the thread.
