GIFs in Photoshop

Well here is a small tutorial i made on how to make a simple GIF using photoshop, for this tutorial I used Photoshop elements 7.0

1.-First you open photoshop (DUH!)
http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/oo6/icaras_racer/Tutorial%20GIF/T1.jpg

2.-Remember the good old days cartoons? made frame by frame? well with GIFs in photoshop works almost the same, you will need to place all the frames of your GIF in order as im showing in the pic with stickman! (*NOTE make sure all the frames are properly placed in the same place, if you mess up the position they will move all over the place!!, also place them in the correct order for the motion and label all your layers by numbers)

3.-Now, when you are done with that part, open the file menu and clic "save as"
http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/oo6/icaras_racer/Tutorial%20GIF/T3.jpg

4.-On the "save as" screen select the format option for GIF, for me its "CompuServe GIF (*GIF)" (NOW calm down, don't press save yet!!!!!)

5.-Make sure you select the "layers as frames" check-box!!!, then press "save"

6.-Now you will get this screen! yay! now to step 7!

7.-Now check the "Animate" check-box, on the orange circle on the pic you can set the speed for the frame rate. (ie. 0.1 is too fast, and so on...) and check that the "loop" check-box over there is selected too, when you are done press "ok"

8.-Now select the place to save your GIF and press save!!!

9.-Enjoy your GIF!

GIFs in GIMP

Well, as not so many can afford getting photoshop, i added a quite small tutorial to make GIFs in GIMP, which is a freeware design program, quite similar to photoshop.

1.-Do almost the same as I mentioned in step 2 of the photoshop tutorial, Place all your frames in the layers (the layers are the frames of the GIF), and make sure they are correctly placed in order, then go to "File" and select "Save as"
http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/oo6/icaras_racer/Tutorial%20GIF/G1.jpg

2.-Now on on the save as screen open the "Select File Type" sub menu, and select "Gif Image" select the place to save your file too!, when you are done click "Save".

3.-You will get a export file window, here select the option "Save as Animation" and click "Export"
http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/oo6/icaras_racer/Tutorial%20GIF/G3.jpg

4.-Now on this screen you can select the speed for the frame rate (I had chosen 100 milliseconds for the stick-man), make sure that the "loop" check-box is selected, then press "Save"
http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/oo6/icaras_racer/Tutorial%20GIF/G4.jpg

5.- Enjoy your new GIF!

Do you have a GIMP version of this? I have GIMP but don't know how to use it much.
And shouldn't this go in the tutorials section?
