LBP2 will have 10-level Move demo

Archive: 37 posts

A small 10-level Move demo will be included in the game to show the potential of the PS Move implementation at launch, but a full PS Move DLC pack and a secondary pack including free tools (like the Creator Pack) to implement Move into your levels after the release. So while you can use Move on launch day, you will have to wait until a some time afterwards to start implementing those items in your levels.

Will there be trophies for the levels I wonder? It would be a bit unfair on those who don't have Move so I hope not.

They could be "optional" trophies, like the ones from the MGS and POTC packs, that aren't required for platinum.

10 levels and it's just a demo? What is this, LBP Move?

That would be good gdn001.

I'm not really sure if the Move has capabilities that couldn't be replicated in LBP2 though.

Whoa, 10 levels?? Good grief man, it'll take some exercise to complete those! Lol Jk.

Man though, how much can you make with the Move? Cause if it was JUST picking up, moving objects, they wouldn't make 10 levels out of it. Right?

Sounds pretty cool, but I haven't really seen the Move control in LBP. Is it gimmicky, or is it pretty good? 2010-10-02 21:58:00

The 10 levels will be on the disc, and Move support was actually announced for LBP1 quite some time ago. That all changed with the announcement of LBP2.

Looks like someone beat me to the punch with some early vids, but you can do a search on youtube, here or google with "LBP2 Move" and probably find several other quality ones.

Anyone think we'll be able to animate the sackbots directly with the move controllers?

If the grabbable Move pieces (they're pink, from what I've seen of all the levels) are linked up to pre-determined sackbot behaviors, yes. But the interactive pieces in the videos seem to be just simple point, click and drag type interactions. Who knows, though... I'm sure MM might be able to come up with some other ways of interaction with Move that we haven't yet seen.

You should also be able to control a sackperson (Player 2?) with the Move and the Move control stick accessory, which contains all (I think) of the buttons on a PS3 Dualshock. Although I'm not sure why you'd want to do that.

It's certainly news that they announced the number of levels, that they were going to be included on the disc, but that additional support was to be provided at a later date by DLC. The details available in July were sketchy at best.

I think that the Move support is a smart move. no pun intended.
Schm0 mentioned MM creativity, but I think that the creator's imagination will really bring things forward.
I'm reallyfor giving the creators the greatest number of tools possible.

No it was just demo'd on LBP1 while 2 was in devopment. I don't think they've mentioned move support coming to 1 since they announced 2

The real magic would be having a Move controlinator. Let the creators map movements to whatever they want, and the possibilities would be enormous. This should also be easy to do. MM already have controlinator code; the Move just returns input values the same as analogue inputs; you'd just need to tweak the existing controllinator code and come up with a visual way to map the movement and rotation outputs to a big Move controller graphic like the current DS3 one. Maybe some sensor components on the circuit board for pitch, roll, yaw, X/Y/Z movement?

I think it'd be cool if we could use the PSeye to control a sackbot's head and arm movements with your own.

I posted the figure of ten levels back on august 19th on plagachef: http://www.plagachef.com/littlebigplanet/blog/2010/08/19/lbp2-gameplay-videos/

"Apparently Media Molecule also confirmed that 10 littlebigplanet 1 levels would come with the game, but with move functionality added into the mix! It would explain why certain littlebigplanet 1 materials have been seen in the dinosaur level screenshots!"

Ahah! I found my source (from august 18th by the way) : http://www.nowgamer.com/news/4040/gamescom-2010-move-on-littlebigplanet-2-detailed

"Media Molecule Alex Evans co-founder told NowGamer that LittleBigPlanet 2 would ship with 10 Move-compatible levels from the original LittleBigPlanet.Media Molecule plans to include full Move-functionality for LittleBigPlanet 2 post-release.

?Sixaxis control for the direct control seat will have an exact equivalent for Move?
"The mantra at Media Molecule is "don't cheat"," said Evans. "We haven't built the the create tools for Move yet, and the idea is that the direct control seat - which currently has sixaxis control - will have an exact equivalent for Move."

Quality will determine when an update is released however.
"At that point we can legitimately say "LittleBigPlanet is awesome for Move", but until we've done that we're not going to release it."

What are these pins?

Motion controls, in general, are gimmicky. However, I have some faith that Mm can implement them in a meaningful way. We will have to wait and see. No way I am going out to buy more worthless motion controls until I see more gameplay.2010-10-03 17:44:00

I second this. Move Controlinator would really open Move's potential...
I have an example of it in an another thread... here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=36615-Of-Move-Support)

pweez no infractions, that thread IS related

LBP1 has Move support???

Yes, Move support for LBP was announced before LBP2 development was discovered. However, since that time the two projects have merged and Move Support will be coupled with LBP2 as a 10 level demo, and additional creator tools added after the fact as free DLC.

And chimpy, sorry for late-sniping the news... Even though it was reported (so early!) on your site, I'm fairly sure it wasn't posted here. If I am wrong, I am fully prepared to eat crow.

What I'm more interested in with that interview is this:

We also learned that each player has their own camera when they play online. Previously all players would share a camera, meaning if you fell behind you would respawn. Now players have the freedom to roam.

I've been wanting that ever since LBP1 launched and I keep hearing it's coming in LBP2 but I've yet to see any actual evidence of it. Every level I've played in the beta so far in multiplayer has still counted out players that fall behind so where exactly are these 'mythical' cameras!?

It's in competitive mode, and only in online multiplayer IIRC.

TBH, it makes sense to be a tweak option on it's own...

The 10 levels are probably 10 very SHORT levels, each just a tech demo, a bit like the water pack ones.

Even so that's pretty good news, I hope they implement it well.
