LBPC: The Game Released!

Archive: 235 posts

http://imgur.com/sw8V8.png

LBPCentral has been taken over by the evil ConfusedCartman, and we need your help! It's up to you to save LBPCentral from ConfusedCartman and his army of evil mods!

Trek across Share-ara Desert! Journey across the Gulf of Creation! Save LBPCentral in this exciting, vast adventure - the largest in all of LittleBigPlanet!

This amazing adventure is available NOW, all for free! Complete the level series 20 months in the making!

How to Play
Search "@LBPCSeries". Two levels will be unlocked initially - Level 1: Introduction Forum, and the Vault. Obtain keys to the next levels at the end of every level!

This game requires the use of keys. If you are currently plagued by the key glitch, you will not be able to play more than the first level (and the Vault) at this time. However, eventually we do plan on unlocking all of the levels so it's accessible to all, including those with this issue. If you don't want to wait, you may have to create a second account in order to work around it.

Extras!
Each level contains a unique collectible sticker, resulting in 12 total stickers to collect as you play through the game. Use the stickers in the Vault in order to unlock minigames! To play them, you'll need to navigate to the @LBPCSeriesBonus account, as they're stored on a separate PSN in order to allow for more publishing space.

There are also a variety of contests (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=36931-LBPC-The-Game-Contests%21) for you to test your skills at, if you so choose. Good luck!

A Thank You
The LBPC: The Game team would just like to thank you all, for everything. If it wasn't for our love of this site, we wouldn't embark on such a crazy project in the first place. Thank you for being patient as we worked for so long on everything, thank you for being a part of this fantastic community, and thank you for just being awesome.

But beta testers aren't human being
they are evil robots controlled by CC!

Not all of them were.. I took the pics and recorded the trailer and I guarantee I am not evil nor controlled by cc. Oh hang on a sec...

What's that CC? Pizza? Good idea! Be there in a second!

Yup.. I am not controlled at all by CC.

He meant in order if you're talking about the beaten statement. Like I've beaten many levels a couple dozen times, but he was the first person to complete all 14 story levels in sequence, so he techncially was the first to beat the game as a whole.

Mmm ? Key bug ( which Mm don't seem interested in fixing ) + locked levels = no play. Shame.

I just hope if there are any contests involved, they aren't held until all the levels are unlocked for everyone to play. Of course even then that still puts those with the bug at a disadvantage having had less practice time. Again a shame.

I agree.

The highscore contests should not be held until unlock.

The other contests are fine IMO.

They don't appear in your popit. The only way keys get stuck in your popit is if someone sends you the keys directly. So go play nao.

5 days since the first level was published? Only opened to everybody a day ago? You should republishes ALL of the levels fresh, it had the change of taking over the cool pages and compared to all the other crap, that would actually be a good thing. You know how many people would join the website if all the levels were on top of the cool pages? Also, I think the first level needs to be redone, the quality is kinda low, and compared to the quality jump in number 2, it confuses me, they should be consistent.2010-10-02 15:58:00

that's not how cool pages works -_-

also you would of had a REALLY buggy game if you wanted them freshly published...also all the ratings and hearts we beta testers put into it was the whole point of the "cool pages" thing

I was being sarcastic about the never heard of it before thing.... But great job, I've managed to complete the first few levels, no hi-scores yet though. Never been great at platforming... But thanks to all you worked on this for months and months. I've been silently following this for a while, I was all jittery when I saw it was out. So one more time, thanks for all the hard work and sacrifice of everyone who pout their time into this enormous undertaking.2010-10-02 22:32:00

Congratulations to everyone that was a part of this great project! It's great to hear that this is finally out. I've played most of the levels and had a great time - I can't wait to continue to play the rest of these bad boys. Great work everyone and enjoy resting while you can!2010-10-03 00:14:00

Has anyone else had this problem? On almost all the levels so far the floors have become like ghost materials, like the glitch people use to make walk through walls. I have to restart the levels all the time.2010-10-03 07:26:00

I'll be honest, when I started one of my main goals was less paintinator bosses... it's just that my team tended to resort to paintinator bosses cause it was easier or something. So yeah, I hate paintinator bosses too, and wanted less, but, uh... look, a puppy! /runs

TBH i think your boss was the most original from what i've seen(I played lvl 1 to 7 now) =D (And it took me a little while to find out what i had to do, but that wasn't to much of a problem).

Kuddos for the whole team, this is amazing!

Well done to all the team involved with this project.
The introduction level is a great start to the series, but after all the hype and interest, it is such a shame that many people will not get to see the rest of the series due to the key bug, especially when there are extra contests for people to compete in.
I presume, the remaining levels are locked so that people play them in the correct order, but if it were me, I would rather people play them in the wrong order than not be able to play them at all, after people have waited so long for them all to be released.

You guys really need to work on the introduction level. It's pretty bad compared to the rest IMO; look at the comments. I'm pretty sure it's turning people off from playing the rest of the series. (whiich is awesome, btw)

Also, there's no sign of me at all as far as I can tell. That makes me sad. :|

they're planning on unlocking all the levels after a while...they just want most people to play them in order

I was playing level 9b and It got so frustrating to try and pass rtm. Everytime I went to the gate the bombs went off and everytime they weren't I got killed by something else. I finaally passed them, only to have Aya seemingly broken... I had to restart and I'm sure some little kid will rage quit and score low because of this...2010-10-03 23:40:00

After a long time of trying to get past the spawnkilling bombs at the beginning of Level 9b, when I fought Aya... uhh... I think I broke it. O_O

I shot one of the bombs it threw with my Paintinator and then the boss stopped making noise and shooting most of its weapons. It just rolled back and forth and I couldn't shoot any parts of it.

Yes, very nice job on finally releasing it. ^^
You can tell you guys took the time, especially with characters and boss mechanic.
A very interesting and comical journey.
I will say though there were a fair share of bugs, it's to be expected but.
Some were fairly bad, Including some catastrophic boss breaking,
And objects issues like in The Mount Peanut Mines.
The cart kept tipping over, hitting objects.
But still that didn't take away from the game.
Thanks for finally getting the game out.

I have played 3 of these levels, they are 3* which is a good rating . But with all the dialogue, LBPC logos and commercial like mentality it takes these down to 2*.

Also I think they suffer a little gameplay wise, because I don't think these levels know what to be. You really have to choose 1 or 2 gameplay mechanics and stick to them, keeps it cosistant. And consistant props/visuals is a good rule too. All this lets the player become comfortable with the mechanics.

I'm sorry for some of my harsh judgements as this looks like it was a fun project for everyone involved, which at the end of the day is what it's all about. LBP is evolution, so I hope the next adventure learns from its mistakes.

Yes thanks but I don't like doing that when the orange light is flashing because you usually get the message about being switched off incorrectly next time you start it up.

I played as far as level 10, but now i'm stuck because there's no key at the end of the level. Also, the boss's logic keeps playing after you've defeated him. The music also keeps playing, which made the end of the level seem realy silly.2010-10-05 00:44:00

I have been waiting for "the game" for quite a while now,
When I saw the first footage of it I actually thought "the game" would show of lbpc finest levels that actually represent the quality of levels that can be found on lbpc.

Months passed, and my expectations grew.
comments from people involved saying that the game will be awesome, superb and something special.
and I expected as much.

When playing the first level I thought the visuals where a mere joke..
No really I honestly thought that the visuals where a joke, and soon an atmospheric world would pop up as something artistic, special and creative.

But I soon discovered that this was not the fact.
And for that reason, I honestly not get why CC agreed to put the "lbpc approved" tag on this.
The levels are full with bugs, stuff reactivating (music, globals, mouths etc) when people join you halfway and what not.
The visuals are mediocre at best.. and thats still being polite because the visuals do not even come close to representing the overal quality of levels published and posten on lbpc.

The gameplay is just as bad.. If something is called a "boss" I expect honest difficulty and not just grabbing a key and placing it somewhere else to kill it.. and the "puzzles" and platforming that is present in the game are unoriginal, uncreative and lacking on so many expects I do not know where to begin with pointers.. I would almost suggest to play the last 20 "level spotlights" made on lbpc to get a feel on what a level should be, how to create original gameplay, stunning visuals and a superb story.

With creators on lbpc like Comp, SBG, JB, Wex, Gruntos, Adi, Fender, SuperComp and Shawneboi just to name a few on the top of my head.. Its a real dissapointment that none of the levels in the game even comes close to the quality they produce on a regular basis,
let alone that the members of "the game" have not asked the great creators to give pointers and help to boost the overal quality of the levels, I even offered to help once.. but I was assured that my help was not needed as it all looked nice and well.

I expected the story to be immersive, fun and interesting.. especially since people from the forums would be present in the game itself.
Sadely I would soon find out most people who I respect where just represented as their lbpc avatars instead of their sackboys.. and that not only lacks creative thinking.. why would you not use their sackboys?.. More than often you had to put their names in the speech to make sure people know who they where.. FenderJT for instance.. Heck I think we ALL know how fender's sackgirl looks like..
but if the image of fender would not have mentioned it was Fender.. I would never ever have suspected it had to represent Fender..
And I could go on about so many people from lbpc..
let alone.. why do so many have nothing interesting to say in "the game" (not mentioning all the typo's made... and there are a lot of them). At least make them say something funny.. but even that was too much to ask it seems.

And after being in the works for more than a year..
I would expect the overal quality to be much much greater, an immersive story that has had a lot of thought put into it.. original gameplay, stunning visuals and something that would make me say wow and make me feel proud to be part of lbpc.
but it feels like the story was created over night without any thought on how to improve it,
rooms that look like "lets add a floor here, a wall here and lets create gameplay around it".

Therefore I really do not understand why CC put the "lbpc approved" tag on this.
Did CC even play these levels? if CC did would he not have noticed the lack of well.. everything?
The logic pack was probably the best thing ever happen to lbpc and gave lbpc much much more respect..
but if these levels "represent" lbpc, it says that lbpc is mediocre at best.. and that is most certainly not the case.
lbp-related lbpc is probably the best forum and community out there, releasing the best levels of the whole community and I dont think it was wise of CC to put the "Approved" tag on this.

Its sad that so much time and efford has been put in something that is not worth that same time and efford..
I am sad for the people who put all their time into this..
But I am also sad that they themselves did not see that what they are working on.. is not that great.
And I think this was a real case of not understanding the rule "KYD".

"Kill your darlings"
The rule implies that even though at first the idea you had was amazing and great and resulted in progress and continuation of your work.. the idea itself actually weakens the overall work.
For the author himself its often hard to "kill his darling" because he loves the idea and more than often he needs a fellow creator/author/editor to show him that even though his "darling" was great.. without it.. his work would be much better.

In other occasions a great idea does not always result in great work and should be discarded.. even if its a great idea.
also known as "Kill your darlings".

And I think nobody had the courage to say "Hey... what we are doing.. doesnt really represent lbpc high standards..
Maybe we should rethink our strategy and try to improve what we came up with.

The idea behind "The Game" was nice, an evil CC.. Lbpc-members active in the levels and even lbpc-admins as bosses.
but the great idea stranded there.
The potential was there, but it never got chance to bloom.
Bad choices have been made, and it seems to me that nobody had the courage to speak up and do something about it.

Behind the scenes I spoke to many lbpc members and they agreed with me, and some of them are even dissapointed that their sackboy or avatar have been used in "the game" and to be honest.. I was proud my char has been used in the game.. untill I saw the final product.

I know what I have written will probably not go down well with many of you,
but It had to be said.
I actually had a lot of time thinking what to say and how to put it without sounding all "Luos-ey" and even though it will probably offend some.. My reasons are all but intentionally offending.

My appologies to the people who worked so hard on this,
but I had to give my dead-honest opinion.

I got to play up through level 8 last night with my friends online, and I unlocked level 9a.
I figured, heck why not play the rest in the morning. It seemed as though the curse of the key glitch had lifted.
So about 15 minutes ago I finished level 9a, and then when done rating 5*, it didnt' unlock 9b. And on top of all that. LOCKED ALL THE OTHERS!!!!
So now on top of the key glitch, I now have to play that whole story over again. I have played teh Intro level 10 times already. I am kind of getting sick of it.

I got 4 of the stickers from the levels, so I went into the vault, and the only sticker that worked was the intro sticker. I have stickers 6-8 as well, and they don't work.
It is really frustrating. Is there any date at which you will unlock all levels?
Or is there anyone willing to just play through the story with me? I really want to play these levels, but I have to have someone online with me to do so.

First off, I am pretty proud of what the team did. I don't know anyone else that would have sequestered themselves off for over 20 months from the world like that to produce over 20 levels dedicated to a site they all love. Regardless of what anyone may think about the results, you have to admire and feel honored that they tried and did all that work for us, the members of LBPC.

I understand where you are coming from. Had Wex and some others you name worked on it, the results might have been completely different, but those creators didn't... it was these fine folks. You can't beat them up for not being a wex, a grant, or even a Lous. They are simply who they are. Not only did they do it, but many of the levels they did have been done for over a year. So you also need to consider the scope and try not to compare all these levels to current levels. It wasn't intended to.. I mean, looking at my own work, I do everything better than I did a year ago, even though the work I did over a year ago was still spotlighted. We are always constantly improving because we create and release our work out for judgment once it is done. These folks, held it all in a vault and released it as one body of work. ..and as they themselves have said, it was "supposed" to echo the original LBP game and how it evolved, much like this site has evolved over the past two years.

So could it have been better? Sure. Everything can lend itself to improvement in one way or another, but what you can't improve is the heart and love that this group put into this work for the members of LBPC. I don't think it was meant to be like the logic packs. It was done as a tribute to a fun little site in the corner of the internet that we call home. Much like a young daughters first crayon drawing that hangs so proudly on the fridge, I see these levels as a wonderful tribute to the members here and I cannot fault them for trying their best.

I am quite proud of this team and cannot thank them enough for what they did, regardless of the bumps, bruises, and dents we might find under a critical eye, I still love and admire each and every one of them. ...even Rock as much as I have personally beat him up over the past year into being a bit kinder to others. Yup.. even him.

So yes.. I do see your point, but I think you have to put it all in perspective. They did it for love of this site and they gave us so much fun in so many different levels where quite a number of us star in it. ...and for that, they have earned my deepest respect and admiration. I consider them my good friends and I am proud to have had the opportunity to play their levels, record their video, and take their pics.

Thank you team!

(alow me to be a JURK here)
But that still doesn't excuse the fact that the game is broken because of level 10.

So far of what I have played I do agree with Luos that the visuals are kind of simple, but my eyes needs a break sometime so it was all welcome... I found it all (so far) pleasing to play! I wish though I had managed to get my sackboy into it, when did that happen anyway?2010-10-05 18:20:00

Jw is wise and I couldn't agree more.

This team of dedicated, passionate and generous creators have spent so much of their time and put so much effort into this project it's truly mindblowing when you think about it. They have been through technical problems, story changes, glitches, thermo nightmares, communication and personality challenges, and all the pressure that the community who has been anxiously awaiting the release of this project have thrown on them.

They have neglected their own levels and projects to get this done. Spent thousands of hours in create mode as a group all for love of this website and it's members. This kind of dedication and perseverance should be applauded and appreciated by anyone who plays their levels.

As a collected work, the game is impressive as heck. Bringing together as many LBPC members as they could to feature in the levels, adapting and changing the story as the culture of LBPC and it's staff evolved over the last 20 months and having so many creators with their differing styles all blend together into one set of levels.... wow, just wow.

I applaud each and every one who is and was a part of this project and thank them for their time, creativity and generosity. You guys and gals Rock!

As one of the logicpack dudes.... I gotta say, I totally agree with Jww and Morgana. Playing through these levels may not be "mass" friendly (most from outside lbpc would not understand many of the references), but it was a joy to play. Remeniscing over all the old names and people that I haven't had contact with for a long time. Remembering all the old things that happened and I hadn't thought of for a while - great stuff.

Even starting with level 1 - the race section was really fantastic.

As a body of work, I think it's fantastic and entertaining. There's SO MANY personalities and ideas in this series - there must be something there for everyone.... which is why I'm still a bit disappointed the levels were locked and required playing through each one. Probably would have been better received if people could skip to the next section if they weren't enjoying a section.

I had a great time going through them, and look forward to going back through many of them when they're unlocked.

The fact is that it was overhyped. No, it's not perfect but it's fun and light-hearted. And I disagree with the gameplay points, visuals were a alright but it was actually full of great ideas that worked very well.

And the way it all connected was brilliantly executed. Things like taking down one of incinerator's tanks, throwing Rock's peanuts into fire, getting bananas for leather monkey, Confused Cartman telling me to "tremble", and going inside Whale. These are just some of the many ideas the team threw at us, and it made me feel part of it all. I don't think it could have been improved, infact it made the whole thing even more exciting. "Who's going to pop up next?" I've only been on this site for a while and even I could feel the nostalgia.

Agreed, the visuals in some areas are not great, but as a package to play with contests and highscores, the vault and minigames, I think it has been successful. Disappointing, yes, but still an absolute pleasure to play the whole way through.

This definitely was a labor of love. I played and played and played and made it all the way through. I ran into a few problems, but all and all it was an absolute pleasure. It was so fun seeing all the characters. So many of them are friends and it was so fun seeing who would be the next. I just can't imagine the tenacity it took for each on of you to keep going. I have a hard enough time just building a new set every two weeks for the Caption Contest. You spent all this time making levels...and then more levels. I honestly don't know how you did it. Thank you so, so much! All of you should be very proud! 2010-10-05 22:53:00

I think you said it perfectly! Some levels had a few bugs, some more than others... but more importantly, they had character I especially loved SLS10's work on Level 8 & Level 12 (those were awesome!)... the Share-Hara Desert was top notch as well! (hope I spelled that right )

Just cause it took a while doesn't make it good.
Plus, extra praising the game and seeming offended because Luos did not. People have different opinions and tastes. Some will hate it, some will love it. Some may love it because of respect and how long it took, or because they actually like it. Some may hate it because of the hype and how long it took, or they actually disliked it. I would say my opinon of course, but I haven't played it since I beat it when early access was given. :/

I just want to point out

Opinions = Opinions

not

My Opinion > Your Opinion

and that's all there is to it. If you wan't to keep discussing an opinionated persons' post, that's just silly, why bother wasting your time if you're not going to change their mind?
I understand that you might just be stating your views and disagreeing with things that are said but I mean, why bother taking the time? If your proud of The Game then nothing should get to you and you shouldn't have to prove a point or anything. Well, back to under the bridge with me.

I have a REAL problem, and would like an answer please.

It is on page 10 (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=37042-LBPC-The-Game-Released!/page10)

Thanks! I have enjoyed the series so far!

Feedback to the whole series: After a slow start the series picked up speed, and closed in an ABSOLUTELY ULTRA AWESOME MEGA COLOSSAL EPIC FINALE. My favorite series boss since comphermc's Roller Inc. and Aperture Science bosses, steve_big_guns' boss in Digitized Reality and a few others. Overall the series gets a million, billion and eleventy-twelve out of 10 That's an appropriate judgement of the series, but on a more...... 'realistic' scale, 10 out of 10. Great effort! Well done guys.2010-10-06 07:50:00

No one take this the wrong way, but they shouldnt feel bad. Everything, even LBP and most surely LBP2, has it flaws. If they feel bad thats sorta..pathetic. Maybe they could take Luos's review as a list of things to improve?

Everything, indeed, has its flaws... but his post is saying that the series is flawed to the point that we should have killed it off ages ago. I don't resent his opinion, in fact I maybe respect him a little more for being honest, but not as harsh as a lot of criticism up to this point has been. I'm saddened that he didn't enjoy his experience, as that's really what we set out to do. As Jww said, we put all the work in for LBPC, and as a result it does hurt when we hear news like this. Consider it pathetic if you will, but after your life has been consumed for up to two years with working on this project, it does come as a blow. As to taking his review as a list of things to improve, I think you'll find that rather impossible, as he is suggesting what ammounts to a full overhaul. We are trying to improve the series as we go along, but it is hard to do without specific feedback, and most players aren't giving us much more than "liked/hated it".

Really, I think it comes down to Talbot-Trembler's statement: It was overhyped. This project has been going on for quite some time, and with the subject material, its quite obvious how it sparked the minds of the community. People began to expect perfection everywhere, especially as time dragged on. Was that our fault? Partially. People did keep clamboring for information, and so we tried to release some when we got the chance. Problems kept popping up, which lead to delays after delays. The most famous example would probably have been when the trailer came out, and then fairly soon after, we lost two team members, making our new deadline impossible. But in the end, we tried to deliver what we promised: A large story series featuring LBPC members, in giving back to the site we love.

Yea I understand that this didn't live up to a lot of people's expectations but like burn victim said, it was overhyped, and I know from experience that when you are too excited for something, it can't possibly live up to your expectations. I personally thought it was a pretty good experience. Was there room for improvement? Sure, but that goes for everything. And you all should just be appreciative of how much time and effort this team put into delivering this great experience for you. Thanks guys! Hopefully the harsh criticism won't discourage you for maybe making another one, and hey maybe even let it encourage you to do it again and make it even better than this one!2010-10-06 23:44:00

A man once said: "Criticism is a powerfull source for good. Nothing ever improves without comming to terms with it's flaws".
Of course everything people put their time and love into making should be met with equal respect, but that doesn't mean those things should get an easy ride. Everyone is entitled to have their own oppinions.
Personaly, what dissapointed me the most was the story. It was rather flimsy. A good game can stand up without a story, but a good story can excuse a lot of problems.
I think you did a great job of achieving all this. I myself could only have done worse. I had fun playing it even though i'm still pretty much a stranger in LBPC, and most of the names in the game meant nothing to me. Well done making this game, and I can't wait to see how it will be when you make it even better!
(that is, IF you're going to make it better...)

sorry this is going to be a bit vague, it was like 3am..

I was playing the levels with a friend online and we got stuck in one of them.
It was the fake water level. There was a boss fight thing at the bottom of the level where it touches the floor and after we beat it we would fall through the ground onto the bottom of the map. It happened just right of the checkpoint and we couldn't get passed this. I took a picture in game and I could upload it later or retry again if you need a better description. I'm guessing it's some glitch but we have no clue how it happened.

I understand what Luos was saying...
I really do. Anyone who values their own work (include me) would understand... I also understood how he said it. Dismissing it simply as his opinion... doesn't make it any more or less right... when infact, it didn't need to be said at all. There's a big difference between standing on a soapbox and rallying against injustice in the defense of honesty... and just plain bolstering your own agenda. What I read in Luos's lines were pure and simple jealousy.

And I get it I really do. Luos is a very gifted artist. He wasn't invited into the project (or simply wasn't interested)--and was turned down when he offered help... I really do get it, (I might have felt the same exact way) it sounds like a very familiar story to me and others. It's just in Luos's case he had the nerve to post his outspoken negative opinion of the project. Unfortunately, it can't escape my mind that Luos is seeking the 'mass acceptenance' and 'official endorsement' that this project received... I also cant forget that Luos has his own Original Multi-part Story that has received SPOTLIGHT recognition but not nearly half the publicity of this project.

So everyone, go out and play Luos's series (for me)... I think it would mean alot to him, as I can only imagine how hard he must labor on it. It's personally not my cup o' tea... but it is of a very high quality.

Now imagine that Level of dedication... for someone elses' vision! Then multiply that by 8 differing voices with differing opinions! And then give final creative control to a man whom himself claims to have no creative, inter-personal, or orginizational chops!

This series is a phenomenal success just for what it isn't. And it isn't exactly...what Luos describes.:hrmf:

Now, Luos can fend himself, but I feel like saying my own on this...

I got no idea what is in his head, but I can imagine what standards he sets up in his head. All the logic and labour behind every single scene, puzzle or boss? All the time I have spent playing with him has been around 99% in create mode where he bends all limits possible for the perfect result, either alone or accompanied by Clay, (the two making what might be the ultimate dream team in LBP) which has given me quite the amount of respect for him after all I have seen.

I won't believe Luos feeling jealousy for this project, unless he himself says so, rather it being disappointment after all the previous overhyping of it all mentioned earlier. In my mind his levels does get much less attention than they should have, though they may not appeal to all. I think the majority of the LBP community out there are a bit too young to catch the spark emitting from his work being what you could call a book of several 100 pages among the smaller books in the elementary school library.

Your post seem to undermine his creator mind to the level of a hater the way you seem to handle it (at least to me) as if he is some kindergartner building sandcastles and now giving his own opinions formed by his standards to someone else who worked quite much on it.

The series itself is in my eyes a masterpiece in its own way considering the time spent on it and all the work behind, gathering so many creators together to form this all. You be proud for what you have done!

For people who go "TL : DR"
"You Gravel, gave none, nada arguments or points that would discard my opinion, you just created new arguments.. without any foundation to make such arguments."

__

And for people who like to read:

Anyone who values their own workI dont, nor should you.

What I read in Luos's lines were pure and simple jealousy. Roflsauce with roflcream and roflcherries.
Really?
If you honestly think that..
whats the word for that.. oh ya..
facepalm.jpg
Nuff said.

And I get it I really do. Luos is a very gifted artist. He wasn't invited into the project (or simply wasn't interested)--and was turned down when he offered help...
Unfortunately, it can't escape my mind that Luos is seeking the 'mass acceptenance' and 'official endorsement' that this project received..Again, some more roflsauce.
What official endorcement? from CC? from lbpc?
dont get me wrong, I have grown very attached to this lbpc community, but endorsement is the last thing I seek.
(Ask around, I have been a real.... a-hole on this forum.. I would not have done that if i needed endorsement)
And "Official endorsement" from lbpc.. meh.. If MM would officially endorse it.. maybe i would care about that.. but only a little.
I dont need endorsement.
The first and utmost reason I create is for myself, the satisfaction I get from creating and getting the idea's I have in my head and realize it in the lbp editor.
If other people like my work, great..
but I rather have them hate it and tell me exactly whats wrong with my work so I can improve my skillset.

But just to clarify...
1. The two "Cave of new Beh'Ta" vids have been watched a total of 14.603 on the moment I am writing this, thats like 10 times more than I hoped for.. I would have been satisfied if only a few 100 people would have watched it.
2. If I wanted mass acceptance I would make "Hardest EVAR hotel bomb sackbot shark zombie cheetah mario kart survivals with ZOMFG real water".
3. My "Sack, The legendary" levels are still played by people on a regular basis, most of them have a few 1000 hits on them.
In most cases thats a few 1000 more than I hoped for.
4. Not that I care one bit about the star rating since its so borked, but none of my levels has 3 stars or less besides the first level I have ever published... and that one doesnt even deserve 3 stars.
5. I still get messages on a daily basis from people who like my work, want to know when sack 6-2 is released or "pl0x meak me my level, I am ure gratust fan and I want to be ure freindz0r!"

So if I needed endorsement, I got it.
I also cant forget that Luos has his own Original Multi-part Story that has received SPOTLIGHT recognition but not nearly half the publicity of this project. I honestly could not care less.
and on that note.. at least I am not overhyping or acting like its the best thing EVAR on lbp/lbpc.

So everyone, go out and play Luos's series (for me)... I think it would mean alot to him, as I can only imagine how hard he must labor on it. It's personally not my cup o' tea... but it is of a very high quality. I honestly could not care less, and I dont agree on the very high quality and if you think its high quality.. maybe you should set new standards for yourself.
Most levels are outdated, not representative of what I wanted to achieve, lacking in gameplay and with my current set of skills I know I can elevate my work to something I personally would call "Very high quality".

And to sum up my thoughts about your rather biased "Not making one point, nor making a real argument" and "I just want to flamez0r" kind of post..
Meh, I could not care less.

What I have written is my personal opinion, based partially on my own skillset, those of the top creators active on lbpc and my history of working as an enviroment artist, my love for lbp and lbpc and my personal feelings while playing "the game".
And you Gravel, gave none, nada arguments or points that would discard my opinion, you just created new arguments.. without any foundation to make such arguments.

I thank Moon for his kind post, I myself do not think that highly of myself as a creator (not anymore at least.. I have been humbled).
but, I dont agree on your last two lines though

Spending 20 months on something.. or ten years for that matter.
does not make something a masterpiece.
spending all your time, love and efford on something.. does not make something a masterpiece.
Having people like or hate your work does not make it a masterpiece.

^^^ This.

Luos.... just because you "think" something, doesn't mean it needs to be said.

Did you PLAY through everything? Did you experience xtrophx's excellent mine carts and incredible wind-blowing areas? Or Takelow's diversified forum games area? Or MrsSpookyBuz's great platforming segments? Or BurnVictim's incredible shooter minigame with so many logic variations and strategies that it boggles the mind?

I agree, not everything is everyones cup of tea... and because some of the mini-games are so well hidden, and many others are locked up many players won't experience some of the great creativity.

I totally disagree that you're motivated by Jealousy and a need for acceptance. I think you lack tact... or even PURPOSE to putting down others' work. What's the point of going into a carefully orchestrated and detailed list of reasons why the project should have been shelved? At least when I give critisism, I try to have a positive POINT. Something objective that the listeners can use to improve something. Your comments seem to have the purpose... to make someone's day just a little less happy. To take something away from the hard work people put into this project.

I can imagine someday when you're married. "Honey.... since having that baby your stomach ain't what it used to be. Nope. Have a nice day! Just wanted to spread a little bit of anxiety your way."

EDIT: I wish the bashing would go away. It's kind of like an uncle getting drunk at a wedding and telling everyone what he REALLY thinks about everying....

^That is what I would call manipulation of evidence (though it does show a kind of facepalm moment)^

If you look at the sentences Luos has written about star-rating and draw a line between what Gravel said about him being a really gifted artist. So in my eyes it is only one of his points that repel he is seeking mass acceptance etc, saying that even though the star rating is -insert lousy adjective here- he already got it maybe or something else.

I wasn't having an arguement, nor was I trying to discard your opinions... I was simply trying to point-out "What may motivate someone to post nearly a full page of text" in someone elses thread... telling them they stink.

Of course, after another half-page of text I realized it was I who was wrong-- and as you reiterated; you don't care. I really do not wish to further embarrass myself and hope with this apology- all will consider this case closed so we may all have a good laugh on the floor as you say...

My apologies to all... in particular, the LBPCTG team.

@ Ccubb,

Can I not give my own opinion?
There are enough people, like you for instance who will say the positive things,
I am more than entitled to speak my mind and opinion.

I think you lack tact..
EDIT: I wish the bashing would go away If that was the case.. And I would not have had my anger management classes
I would have written something like:
(and I dont mean this at all, its an example)
FFFUUU the game, I want my time and soul back. or something worse.

I have spend a lot of time thinking what to say and how to say it.
Yes, it lacks positivity but that might be part of my opinion on the game.
This does not reflect my opinion on the creators though, I respect them all.
And if you read between the lines of what I have written, there are pointers.
Burnvictim understood that.
Yes, they sound drastic, but I honestly think they could have gotten so much more out of "The Game".

I can imagine someday when you're married. "Honey.... since having that baby your stomach ain't what it used to be. Nope. Have a nice day! Just wanted to spread a little bit of anxiety your way."I was not engaged to the game, and pregnant woman are beautifull

@ Takelow,
O_o your point being?
I hate that level (my first one), and if I would star-rate it myself, id rate it 1 star.
.. What moon said.

@ Gravel,
I still wuf you!
Lets get married and have a baby!
Dont worry i wont go "Honey.... since having that baby your stomach ain't what it used to be. Nope. Have a nice day! Just wanted to spread a little bit of anxiety your way."

that said,
Any more comments/flames whatever towards me,
just send them to my inbox.
this thread and "the game" do not deserve this.

Anyhoo..... gonna take some time today to play through many of these again. I missed saving someone in the Peanut Mines, and I'm DETERMINED to solve the number puzzle. There's also a mini-game I beta tested about a year ago by BurnVictim that is, quite possibly, one of the most ingenious minigames I've ever seen, that I haven't found the sticker for. It combines action, logic, and strategy in a way I've never seen before O.o.

Once again, awesome stuff, guys! Thanks for making it.

Having read all the posts in this thread, in the words of Loyd Grossman, I have deliberted, cogitated and digested and would like to add my thoughts.

So far I have played three levels in the series. Prepared to cast my exceedingly critical eye over the production I started the proceeding with nought but my controller, much more than a smidgen of excitement and my good friends by my side.

Now somewhere along the way my critical eye was long forgotten and I was overtaken by an overwhelming sense of pride. With every cute little sackie hop skip and jump, with every fault and every frustration, I was proud. Proud to be a member of a community which holds in it's boundaries such devotion, skill and clarity of mind.

Thankyou.

Well I made it to the end of the Series yesterday and just wanted to say what an amazing journey it was. Sure there were one or two bumps along the road but they were more than made up for by the moments of greatness and by the sheer scale of the whole undertaking. I’m going to try and post some comments in the individual level threads but some of the highlights for me were (in no particular order) -

Castle Cartman – echoes of the bunker – aarrgh – but I made it! Awesome level from start to finish

Burnvictim’s boss fight level – I don’t even like boss fights much but this level had so many ingenious twists I was won over!

The Admin CP level – just brilliant 3D design – that keyboard was so cool and the rest of the level really felt like the inside of a computer. Another amazing boss fight too.

Joey’s mine carts

Takelow’s darting fish

Finally beating Aya042!

Unicorns ftw!

The brilliant little tableaux in the Vault level – so much care and thought went into them and they were fun – once I worked out how not to get squished!

And, of course, it was great spotting all the familiar faces along the way – a real nostalgia trip at times! So I just wanted to say thank you to all those involved for an absolutely unique LBP experience!

Now to try and unlock some minigames. So far I’ve only managed the User CP one (which I think is the one CCUbbage is talking about and it is truly ingenious – though, sadly, only 3 people have got to play it so far!). The number puzzle still has me stumped and I confess I’m close to throwing in the towel, despite having read all the relevant speech bubbles, lol!

Anyway, once again, a tremendous achievement for all those involved - you should all be very proud. <3

Ah, looks like a I came back again (again) at a good time (even though a week late).
I'll play it when I can, but I'll definitely have to finish it at my school's game lab, and hopefully get some random people to play it with me.

Well, people might say I'm a fun breaker, but the levels I played weren't that great. I mean, you had to walk too long without playing, you had to come back from where you came too often, the level divided in too many ways you didn't know which was the good one or the secret one... and there was not a super cool concept. I played levels with puzzle teleporters, races and all funnyer. Too long, it hurts your head. But I know I could never do that, so I guess you guys are great. Sorry, I'm just being constructive.2010-10-10 02:34:00

Just got my interwebs back, and I'm playing through them all...

Since when was I ever banned...?

Aaanyway, I just sticker harvested my face...

Also, I found a problem on the first level, I believe.

During the boss, you can just pull the dissolving wall out of the way, and walk by it.

NO offense but how is that constructive? All you said was that their level series wasn't great and that you've played better. Constructive would have been telling them their faults and giving them tips and tricks to help them improve. All you were doing was whining about it. Again no offense, just sayin.

Everyone takes each posts so seriously... trying to find a minor flaw in one's post and take that to bash him/her.
The point is... he didn't very much like the series, but he doesn't want to offend anyone... Is that so hard to understand. >_>

I'm probably gonna play some more soon.

I only went up to level 4, then played levels 11, and part of 10 with Fishrock, Tan, and Incinerator.

We broke level 10, I believe.

At the beginning, we jumped at that platform in the water, and we pushed it forward, then we died, and we couldn't make the jump anymore, since we kept layer switching straight to the logo. Maybe some thin gas would work there.

I also realized that 3/4 of the people in Land of the Banned are either on my friends list, or is me.

I really should have given this series a chance.

I played level one and two, and didn't really like 'em so I gave up. Then I joined a friend and played Mount Peanut and I was like O.O.

Gonna play the rest of this later.

When i was playing the first several levels i am disappointed to say that they where for the most part just bad. if that is because i have a high standard idk. but as i continued playing they did get better, some of the levels were very good. but the series itself was just inconsistent. Also i found countless glitched/badly designed sections i had to restart over half of the levels (sometimes multiple times) because i did not know what to do or i glitched the level. i still have not finished the series (i think i am on level 10 or something) so i can not say anything about the ending levels, but the ones i did play where fun but i felt like i just wanted it to be over. i wish that all of the levels had more detail and that it just worked better. for example when you have to get the documents (or whatever they are) and i grabbed the green thing to go up i did not know to let go at the 2nd floor (i went to the very top and let go and i just fell back down). a VERY easy way to fix this is to put a mag key switch on the green thing set to speed and inverted hooked up to the winch, and have mag keys on each floor. Another section i had a lot of trouble with was in the gulf of creation (i think it was that level) when you had to fight the squid thing, even though it pointed out the 2nd weakness it was too high and i could barely hit it and i thought i needed to shoot something else. i had MANY other times like that. but, it was not all bad, the one thing that i liked the most was the names of the levels. and also the humor is great! (he locked me in this cage because i asked him to be in the level! w8 this is what? LOL) and the plot is good and fitting. (though hard to follow at times, but not many) so overall it was worth playing but not what i had expected, but sadly not in a good way 2010-10-12 23:33:00

Yeah, MSC boss is a multistage fight, and the triangle part need a minimum of observation and spirit.
And btw, thank you for all the little things you loved in the series, and for you great help in improving the series with yours highly constructive comments

Looks like you expected too much.

But to be honest they put great work into it, and although I have not played the whole series (key bug), I find the levels very much great, you should also consider that some levels were built months ago, and would easily stand up to some of the greatest levels of that time.

I'd say if its fair to have post that only say "Liked it," and "awesome," and such without "what, or how," and all, that it should be just fair to have comments that say "I disliked it/ it sucked."
In both they're just saying their opinions, so if one's spam, all those opinions without anything else shouls also be marked as spam.

We could argue about this all day but in the end if you have a positive thing to say about the series i doubt youll have feedback to present...which imo should be an exception to spamming.

But if youre going to leave a negative remark about how much you dislike it then you should at least leave feedback to help them improve. Merely saying the whole thing sucks and not giving any constructive feedback in my eyes is seen as spam since it contributes nothing to the thread and its subject.

At the end of the day its depending on how the OP sees it (seeing as its their thread so they can decide the subject and such) and your perception about the situation and both of its parties (the likes who have no feedback as they feel its good as it is, and the dislikes who imo should leave some advice to help them improve)

Indeed, but just as negative comments can leave feedback, positive comments can leave reviews, pros & cons, and such, not to mention that you liked it doesn't meant you can't think of ways to make it better as well.

But yer right, ultimately its all up tothe OP(s).
Alternatevly, you could always just report the posts and leave it up to the mods to decide wether its spam or not.

It shouldn't be spam as, yes it would be helpful for som1 to leave something constructive, but it every1 is entitled to their own opinions. So as far as there right to leave comments like that it should stand, but seriously it would be nice to offer advise.2010-10-17 18:45:00

Huh?? No need to buy the GOTY edition if you already have LBP for the PS3. Just play it!

From OP..

How to Play
Search "@LBPCSeries". Two levels will be unlocked initially - Level 1: Introduction Forum, and the Vault. Obtain keys to the next levels at the end of every level!
