Foulmouth GrottoL1GhTmArE
Famous for its decaying teeth shaped stalactites and stalagmites, Foulmouth Grotto is a natural wonder. Despite this fact, no one has ever traversed its cavities...until now. [1-2 players max - medium difficulty]

Big thanks to the ninja that never sleeps, NinjaMicWZ for giving suggestions and helping me build this level. Also thanks to Sabre_, my partner in crime, for giving suggestions and testing the blood out of this level. Couldn't have done this level without you guys. Also thanks to the following people for playtesting and feedback: Killer-Piller-Xx, LBP_legand, nitewalker11, zerotiger99, Silence_Rai, RuBeNPwNzXboXz, RELLIKYO, jkash4, opencountry1, Smelling-Cowboy, talbottrembler, o___NEO___o, and PrincessK12.

This one of my funner levels to build to date. As always it has some tricky platforming but it also has some wacky ones too. It was supposed to be a remake of my 1st level Underground Ruins but a ninja jumped in and stole my plans and replaced them with another Im glad he did as it turned out better than what I did have planned. Im not going to spoil nothing for you guys but this one of those levels (to me lol) that you could play over and over and not get tired of it (I hope). Oh yea dont get scared at the end, lol.

Hi L1GhTmArE,

Finished your level. Found it difficult as I struggle a bit with using R1 rapidly.

All I can say is that is excellent. The level is brilliant. The musical section was great and the boss was challenging in the best way possible.

Cons:
None! Maybe a little difficult for some to get going but once you get used to it there's no problem. You more than make up for this by providing double life saves.

Okay, I played this level and here's what I thought.

I really liked the introduction to the level with you driving in the car. There was some great action in this level like the earthquake, getting chased from the boulder and the bridge completely breaking. I also liked how it told us a little about this place by telling about the holitosimite. The visuals were nice and yes, the gameplay was challenging but I really enjoyed most of it. I also thought the pieces that propel you up by grabbing were great but at one part where you have to grab to be bounced up, I'd put an r1 sign befpore, not after which causing my death but then I found out what to do right after. I can add and show you if you want or we both just follow Sabre_ and then we can play the level since he and I are friends.

I thought the way to defeat the boss was a nice way but the boss was a bit of a dissapointment. When first battling him, it was very easy to avoid the fireballs, too easy infact and the only times I died at the beginning was three times, one accidentall hitting the wall and twice falling on one of the launchers and getting squished. But then when the beam came, I guess I just had to time my jumps very well but if you wanna make that part easier, I'd suggest either a hiding place in the back layer so the beam doesnt kill you everytime you're on the ground or in the launcher when it turns red or make somehting grabbable at the ceiling that doesn;t break off when you grab it like the stalagtites. Overall though, this was still a fun level. :star::star::star::star: and a <3 Great job

Oh and as for F4F, instead of playing my level, could you play my friend's instead? Here's the link to the level thread.

i really like the finished product... everything came out looking great with the lighting and extra stickers. the music puzzle you have in it is the only time imo i've seen a music puzzle work and feel right. just using a tune that can be memorized easily, and played in the same area was smart.

you did the stalagtites and launchers with the boss perfect. really fun way to fight. maybe dragonvarsity's right... make the beam shorter so if you fly up in the air you won't always hit it on the way down; it's always longer than your hang time. but it looked awesome... so did the score area with the wall breaking off. good stuff, man, you're a natural, that's why i like working on your stuff with you.

the peppermint rolling section is probably my favorite.

Thanks! im glad you enjoyed it. Im very happy as I thought people would get stuck on the music part of the level. im glad you got through it . Thanks for the stars and hearts. I will play your level right away.

I was going to put an R1 tag there but thought it was too obvious to do so. Ill try to add one there. I have to delete some corners as my complex shapes thermometer is at max. The other R1 sign is for those teeth you grab to stop the fireballs under you in the section next to it. The boss fight I wanted to be like a fun cool down section after all the platforming. I could make him shoot longer but it might be a guaranteed hit by the boss. Ill see what i can do. ill fix those edges of the launchers asap. The beam is how i was making the boss a little more challenging. I want the player to time thier jumps and scurry around to get to a launch pad before the next beam attack. Also if you grab the stalactites it will delay your fall. I'll try to make the 1st stage of the boss harder but the 2nd stage I think is perfect. Thanks for the suggestions as they were very helpful. Im glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the hearts n stars. You could send me an invite if you want to show me the sections in question or just follow sabre_.

Ok, i played your level and i really enjoyed it.

The visuals where cool, i liked the moving camera angles and the level style. You did a very good use of the corner edit tool but i certainly think it is a bit rough at some spots.I liked a lot the intro, the car idea was really cool and original, the boss has a very cool character design.

The game-play was fun, it wasn't to original in the plat-forming but all the puzzles where really well thought and fun to play; my favorite was the one of the music and my favorite platform was the moving fire balls which ere really cool. The boss fight was awesome!

I rated your level :star::star::star::star: cause i think you could actually get better some game-play parts but overall i really liked it so i <3 ed it and tagged hoist

Good job!

Just played your level and loved the car at the start. You kept a solid style of corners and shapes through the whole level. The R1 was a perfect way to get across the point...but that made the hand grabs switches stick out more when you left them visible. It just didn't fit. Wished you could have had the R1s the whole way. The pepermint rollers worked very well untilt he part you are bounced into on...I was bouncing for a good bit. Maybe you could change that bouncer to an R1 one so then it becomes a timing thing as well. The climb on the ceiling was well done (even thogh I don't like those), but it got a little crazy with the timing between the rolling lave balls. Don't know if adding just a little time would be good.Round about that point I saw two times I could see the pistons on the pads that lifted me, one was the peppermint puzzle...not sure about the other. The final boss was funny and well done...just could not tell how many hits I had given him or how long until he was going to die. The 3D stars at the start were really good and the moon was funny, I did wonder what would happen if I had knocked the rock of the tree branch...if it would reset, and like some other posters a place to hang on the ceiling may have been nice for the last boss...but my main issue was knowing how I was doing. Great level, just wish there was another option for the visible hands, hide those pistons, switch that auto bounce pad in the pepermint area, and on a side note the LBP skulls did not fully fit th rest of your design...maybe it just made me thing of the wedding stage in LBP.2010-10-02 13:17:00

Ok here's my 'as I play through review.'

+First thing I saw was that awesome tree texture
+Just noticed the starry sky background; it looks very nice.
+I like the premise of the level.
+I really enjoy the amount of detail put in with stickers.
+The rolling wheel part feels very well thought out.
+Really well designed boss fight. All the progression of difficulty works on top of itself.

5 stars and a heart. This level kept me immersed the entire time and was very well designed and thought out.

@ Celsus

Thanks Celsus for your playthrough . I have some grab switches visible as indicators to the player that a material thats usually not grabable is grabable. Also since im out of corners i couldn't use the signs everywhere. I will go back and find some grab switches that aren't needed and delete them. Im still trying to find a way to put the grab pad under the peppermint path as people have been requesting it . Ill add .5 or 1 second of time to the hanging part. Lol, the pistons bothered you? Ill go back and hide those. The skulls represent people who failed to make it through FMG. Thanks for the suggestions! Really appreciate it.

@ Zynax555

Thanks bro! im glad you enjoyed it. I tried to make it so if you did something before in the level, you'll remember it and use it later in the level. Thanks for the hearts and stars

Hey L1ghtmare

That was an amazing level. The visuals looked breathtaking thanks to lighting and corner editing and the gameplay is brilliant. The rolling rocks part is exhilarating and the hanging on a ceiling parts of the level are one of the best yet. The boss battle is epic too, but for some reason, the lower jaw is broken after I hit him once. Overall, I gave it 5 :star:s and a <3.

Thanks Psyntens! Im glad you both enjoyed it! Alot of players skip throught the story line but im glad you actually read them and liked it. Ill be sure to check out your photos. Im also glad you played it recently as I updated a lot of things yesterday but didnt get to post it. Thanks again!

And heres what I updated:
Got rid of useless grab switches and added R1 signs in places that needed clues.
Fixed the bosses jaw from breaking.
Replaced the auto jump pad with a grap pad under the peppermintos trail.
Slowed down various emmitted obstacles.
Added gas under the music puzzle so its not possible to get under the map.

Stay tuned

What can I say? Lightmare and Sabre are now my favourite creators. Full of original ideas and visuals, I wish I could be online more to beta test their levels.

The level itself is beautiful. Originality is stamped right over it's title, never mind the level itself. Oh, and congrats on the spotlight. You just know it will be spotlighted, it's just too epic!

What a fun level to play! Funny and challenging. Loved it! That boss was hard to kill but fun to launch up to grab his teeth. Thought the orange lights were a particularly nice touch ad the wheels looked great and the layer challenges in that section were quite fun too.

I still have to play the regular version. Just played the easy version 'cause it was easy to find on the cool levels page.

But did you end up fixing that second thecxie glitch I messaged you about?

Aanyway, I'll play the regular version later, as long as I don't forget, and then leave some actual feedback.

I just cleared this level yesterday. It was one heck of a experience.
The visuals were awesome. You have chosen good selection of decorations and materials!
Platforming was solid and fantastic! Music note puzzle was pure genius,
even if it confused me little in this kind of level.
Boss was great finale, maybe little bit easy later once you know the boss' timing.

Overall, It's awesome. Five stars and heart!

The improvements were very good, still noticed pistons on the last two little R1 ejector pads. Not sure if that even matters, just don't think I saw them on any of the others (the one before the evil grab the roof and avoid the three falling lava balls, and I think the one after the music...basically the two very last ones before the boss. The R1 luanch to get in the rollers was much more fun...it was like you were aiming at targets.2010-10-17 16:52:00

hi i love your level very enjoyable,

good stuff:
the design was good,
multiplayer friendly,
a unique story line,
and lets not forget the obstacles.

cons:

i felt some bits lacked something but not bad,
and at one part i saw some anti matter :S

but other than that great level, i would appreciate it if you could play my level, The Factory

Way better than your last level, had no problems what so ever in this one.
Didn't mind the forced cutscene as it had visuals and some magic mouths to read. I knew I was going to have to backtrack to the point bubbles though.
