NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm on it.... today! I don't know what it is.... nastalgia..... fond memories.... but the original Robo-Rampage levels stand out as one of my earlier great experiences in LBP. Completely ignoring the "it must be child friendly" philosophy and supplying a tough-as-nails-well-designed classic-style game. Great to see more.2010-10-01 14:17:00

Tried it out, great stuff! Love the design and the details like the ooze and how it actually fits into gameplay.

Wise decision on making the plasma balls in the boss different colors, that way you can tell which layer they are in. Otherwise it'd be way too confusing.

Very glad you're still making these.

I love it. The visual design and color scheme are well thought out. The use of water for visual effect adds depth to the appearance. The standard challenge of the RRX series is there; difficult but fair gameplay. And a sweet over-sized final robotic boss to end the level. It's fantastic.

Having playtested the rest of the RRX3 series, I can say that anyone who has enjoyed previous Robo Rampage installments is in for a real treat! Get yourself ready to battle through some difficult levels with awesome visual style and incredibly epic Boss fights!

Ok, played it - very nice!

Couple things:

The part where you face the blind snake creature, and when you kill him the door slams shut to the left..... I was under the door while shooting him and it slammed down on me, killing me and making the level impossible to finish (I was sent back to the previous checkpoint before the door, so I was stuck.

One thing I would suggest is to attach sensor switches to your checkpoints so when the player gets near the checkpoint, it activates automatically. In the case of the area I got stuck, if I had been transported to the checkpoint just in front of me it wouldn't have broken the game.

Also, I like the different colored plasma at the end boss, but the colors are close enough together that it's difficult to tell which ones are which. I actually died at the final boss (need to go back later and get past him..... he was almost dead ) but I think it was more due to not being able to judge which plane the plasma were on.

Great stuff, though - definately going to give it another go later.

All fair points. So, let me make sure I understand you correctly. I can wire a checkpoint to a switch? If this is what you meant, then it's an easy fix, and I just learned something If not, could you elaborate?

Yup, thats it - just drag a wire from the sensor switch to the checkpoint. The sensor switch will activate the checkpoint.2010-10-01 23:01:00

I agree with CCubage, for example in the part after the water and the awesome floaty round enemy, there's a checkpoint but it's behind the line of fire of the tendril to the right, that's slightly annoying.2010-10-01 23:10:00

Sorry about that, guys. Fixed and republished.

i wonder if anyone's beaten this since i placed my measely score (i could pad it out at the scurrats though). it was awesome man... felt just like the good old days, and they don't make levels like this anymore. been a long time since i played a level that brutalized me on the first couple plays, but actually was learnable and built in a way that everything just required memory, timing and patience... but looked and felt polished enough to motivate me to keep trying and make me determined. i couldn't walk away and have you not see me on the board.

the theme... making a sewer with a futuristic motif is not an easy task to make it believable. the green glass ooze shaping was perfect and the hindering goo effect. i wish i'd have done that for something i'm working on, and i honestly might have to just rip you off anyway.

the boss was mega epic... first time i just got mauled til my last life when i got the pattern down. 2nd time, i had the last life alarm going when i killed the right side and when it respawned i was like 'oh wtf, you gotta be kidding me?!' - that was the epitome of NES hardcore. plus he just looked and behaved awesome. on my 3rd attempt i lined it up to have the left-back dead, left-front with a couple hits left, the right side totally killed, then switch over and pop them both off in one quick turn around. great, original design, fun challenge, and it's the only time i've fought a boss where the plasma spreads actually have some sense to them, and the multi-colorpattern is actually possible to follow. i like it even more since you didn't cop out and use color strips on the floor to compensate for bad spread parrerns. when the two pieces died, and it had one more trick i was glad/disappointed and went 'ha, i knew it'... did that whole thing with the alarm sounding, and when he died, i could swear i almost got killed by the last floaty... those floaties are an awesome projectile too; totally unique to shoot them away like that. it was all in theme and fit great with the context.

i think this is the most do-able and balanced of the 3 RRX levels. can't wait for more.

you can swim down in the water before you turn the valve... if that's intentional as a way to make people think 'how do i lower the water', then fine.if not, you can put a lightweight invisible material on thin gas that will float on the water, then sink and be keyed to die off when the waters lowered. also, a little finnicky to drop into the sewage hole to the boss since you can't do a down-drop from the back layer.

no complaints. 5/5; keep it comin and welcome back. off to play the full one now.

Whoah, Patrick is posting on LBPC?! My world is turned upside-down!

I haven't seen the prologue yet, but I'm going to check it out today when I film the heck out of these. I'll try to get the videos up ASAP. Too much work went into these by you guys to have them go unplayed. These are seriously epic, even though I can't get past the first obstacle. LOL.

Thanks, Kappa. Just a note on the boss. The individual tendrils only shoot if you're in their "line of sight." So, If you are on the left side far enough, the right side won't fire, and vice-versa. At that point, simple side steps should get you out of harms way. Don't move around a lot, and he won't "see" you.2010-10-03 20:18:00

Just wanted to mention, if I throw any video of the boss fight from the prologue in the video of the RRX3 series, it may not be pretty... I died... ALOT.
For some reason, the brightness and contrast on their TV is far better than mine... unfortunately, that means that I have more trouble distinguishing the green and yellow plasma from eachother as I am partially colorblind. On my tv I can still tell the difference between the two, since the green plasma is dimmer and more washed out to me, while the yellow is more substantial. I don't think you should change it, as none of the other plasma colors would really suit the theme of that level, but just wanted to throw that out there. I deal with having a more difficult time distinguishing things I need to be avoiding or should be seeing in video games all the time without really knowing it I guess.

Just ask Sara... Once, while she and her husband were working on an rpg together, I told him that he should add a pathway through the forest so that people weren't wandering around without a clue as to where to go. Turns out, there was a path... a slightly more yellow shade of green through the darker green that was the forest.

Then there was the time we were playing Taiko Drum Master and I thought the two different drums were red and gray when in fact they were red and a light cyan... so, I've got some problems.

He's not badly colorblind, but he does mess up colors that are really close to one another sometimes... and our TV is really really dark for some reason.

That was my first time seeing the prologue, to be honest, when pat was filming it last night and MAN that was a nice looking level, and I loved the boss. I couldn't get past that level if you paid me, but it was really nice. Visuals were extremely clean, and I loved the rust sticker as an accent on the background.

Wow, I'm actualy a little shocked. I'd never have guessed that Vmethos was color blind, mildly or not, considering how awesome all of his stuff looks...

Anyhow, thanks, Kappa. The whole idea for the look of that level just struck me, and I had to do it. I didn't even originally intend on there being a prologue, but after I thought of it, it just had to be done. Plus, keep your eyes peeled, I have elements for the epilogue already in the works.

I saw kappax recomended you on that thread and wow, your levels really are something else, you definatly are one of the most Underated creators, this level is Epic, Im huge fan of Megaman and these levels of yours really take me back, everything was so well made and the difficulty of the levels make it a awesome challenge.

I Love how everytime you meet a new enemy, it kind of scans them, telling their weakness etc., The Designs and everything else of the level is amazing, 5 stars isnt enough XD, i wish i could give you 8, 9 or 10, but for now 5 will do.
Great job ^^
