LBP2 Beta Patch 1.01
Archive: 84 posts
So, my Twitter feed has been alive over the last hour that the Beta got patch 1.01 Here's a pic of Tom_Molecule's post on the beta forums that robotoid sent me; http://gyazo.com/80d10636b826c1265310950f0edd0128.png Also, the patch is roughly 836mb in size. And, Tom seems to again be indicating the NA beta is ever-nearing. Discuss. | 2010-09-30 18:58:00 Author: Fishrock123 Posts: 1578 |
/me waits patiently for NA beta | 2010-09-30 19:22:00 Author: Zmathue Posts: 62 |
Nice update! I was kind of disappointed by the bugs that were reported, but it seems they'll be fixed by the time us Americans get the beta. Even then I'll be scouring the beta for glitches! | 2010-09-30 19:44:00 Author: crazymario Posts: 657 |
It's nice to see that the NA beta is just around the corner...or corners. I may not get into the beta (no matter how active I am) but, it is reassuring to see how much effort went into fixing the bugs and glitches. This'll make the experience even better for the chosen beta players. I now see why the delay was needed more. As I said before in the delay thread: Perfection takes time. | 2010-09-30 19:50:00 Author: siberian_ninja15 Posts: 444 |
Yup, hopefully this will be perfected well enough I'm excited, I knew that NA beta news would come around after I published my level haha | 2010-09-30 20:19:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |

Great News but didn't know the beta was that buggy. | 2010-09-30 20:47:00 Author: Coco Loco Posts: 65 |
Sweet so I'm guessing by backwards compatibility issues they mean the people complaining about their levels using the superjump glitch and Sackboy's hit box is now back to 1? | 2010-09-30 20:47:00 Author: Unknown User |
In/Out Mover is quite interesting. Only seems to have one input for on/off. Tweak for where it'll move - layer behind, layer in front, back, middle or front. And a tweak for if it can push or not and how strong the pushing will be. No idea what that does yet though. Also, it's great that keyboard messaing works properly now. | 2010-09-30 20:48:00 Author: Nuclearfish Posts: 927 |
Patch broke hell lot of levels, specialy due removal of subtitle option. My real TV level got hit nasty, made level transparent like ghost, even if copy TV to blank level,so it's beyond for fixing by me | 2010-09-30 21:01:00 Author: Shadowriver Posts: 3991 |
This is fantastic! We've all been waiting so long for this patch, thanks for working hard to get bugs fixed, Mm! I'm going to go download it right now. | 2010-09-30 21:02:00 Author: TheZimInvader Posts: 3149 |
Its not Jet Cheetah. Its ROCKET CHEETAH JEEZ. Also, I am waiting for the Beta as well, even though I have no hopes of getting in. :SH: | 2010-09-30 21:18:00 Author: ThePineapplizer Posts: 769 |
- The menus on levels got an update. Stuff is less buried. So you queue stuff faster, etc. But heck, the preview of a level (before hitting [] for more details, it goes SO fast. I can barely reads the tags, ha. It should stay on the description, and you should use R1/L1 to scroll through to the tags/reviews etc) - Bounce pads now have sound while holding paintinator. - Thin gas back to normal! Yay. - Sackbots on fire look normal in play mode now. - Can now change plasma colour on sackbots. | 2010-09-30 21:25:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |

@ Some of the humanz who had no idea there was this many bugs in the beta, You don't even know the half of it, That was not even 25% of the bugs and things need fixing yet, So yeah and this update came along with some new bugs too... so in the end it gave and take,So really not a lot got done~ its a real long way to go before this game is ready. Shouldn't this be in the beta forums? There no NDA, so there no point of keeping it secret. | 2010-10-01 00:01:00 Author: Shadowriver Posts: 3991 |

In/Out mover = FIX'D! I'm glad they got it working. It's a surprisingly useful tool. My theory that the NA beta is next week seems more likely. They said that when the patch hits, the NA beta is soon after, I think | 2010-10-01 00:48:00 Author: alexbull_uk Posts: 1287 |
In/out movers worked if you got them from the person who captured it with the god mode thing. I have far more bugs now. My levels I was working on are now broken. | 2010-10-01 01:08:00 Author: SteveBigGuns Posts: 423 |

Id want beta when theyre ready to give it to us. Im not as good as others at finding bugs, so whenever they end up releasing it, Itll be less glitchy. | 2010-10-01 02:01:00 Author: grayspence Posts: 1990 |
A beta without bugs, are you guys crazy? It seems as if the whole definition of a beta nowadays is just an exclusive demo. Back in the day, betas were a pain in the *** to play because they were just so completely broken. | 2010-10-01 02:25:00 Author: Sack-Jake Posts: 1153 |
When you guys say "broken now", what are you doing to your levels originally? Are you exploiting something or are they really breaking when you reload them up? Sounds like something to report. haha | 2010-10-01 02:29:00 Author: Cheezy WEAPON Posts: 283 |
When you guys say "broken now", what are you doing to your levels originally? Are you exploiting something or are they really breaking when you reload them up? Sounds like something to report. haha I made a TV with lot of holos in one place and animate them with logic it's not much of explit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xfhkbnk5cfs After patch whole level become like ghost and player overlaps with levels structure, also stickers on last holos went crazy, i tried to save it by coping TV to blank level but didn't worked, floor started to overlap. Not to mention they removed subtitle effect from magic mouth breaking most of movie levels (my TV included), to be more funny they made people do movie levels few days before patch my tetris also got broke but by the fix, emitting animation start working probably and i didn't expect that they will work that way, so it was easy fix | 2010-10-01 03:23:00 Author: Shadowriver Posts: 3991 |
Shouldn't this be in the beta forums? I don't have Beta forum access, and Tom already posted it there. | 2010-10-01 04:19:00 Author: Fishrock123 Posts: 1578 |
In/out movers worked if you got them from the person who captured it with the god mode thing. I have far more bugs now. My levels I was working on are now broken. Well that can't be good... This is the first I'm hearing of this sort of thing resulting from the attmepted patch. Forget the NA beta, I'm starting to wonder if the push will get pushed further back into 2011 by the sounds of all this? *sigh* Oh well, at least we have our LBP to keep us occupied in the meantime. I still know that #2 is going to blow our minds when we see the new features! | 2010-10-01 05:02:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |
Shadowriver, could you try to make something similar to your TV and see if the problem persists? Like even something rudimentary, just the concepts that seem to be breaking? It's possible that things are working as intended but compatibility with previous build files is borked. If new creations of the concept work then we know that's what it is. | 2010-10-01 05:22:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |
I wish that i would got that beta. The beta had lot to fix tought. | 2010-10-01 05:38:00 Author: himoks Posts: 734 |

Well this can't be good either! This is the first I'm hearing of this sort of thing resulting from the attmepted patch.! Well it's beta so it got right to happen Shadowriver, could you try to make something similar to your TV and see if the problem persists? Like even something rudimentary, just the concepts that seem to be breaking? It's possible that things are working as intended but compatibility with previous build files is borked. If new creations of the concept work then we know that's what it is. hmmm i could try, i still got separate channels saved in popit. I would need to kill kids channel too that uses subtitle bubbles, now without them it works crazy connected to randomizer inside microchip that going on/off (magic mouth keep powered when microchip is off bug) LBPC has a beta forum? What? Why am I not in it xD If you in the beta, PM Cartman with proof that you in beta and he will add you in I wish that i would got that beta. The beta had lot to fix tought. Yes Large FPS increase, pod works very smooth now, also nice bubble transition when you chain them and some other minor new stuff | 2010-10-01 11:18:00 Author: Shadowriver Posts: 3991 |
Sounds like there's still a LOT to go - noty one of the bugs I've experienced features on that list. Although nice there's a patch that's fixed some stuff like the In/Out mover. I'm a bit worried that from now til release will be taken up with bug fixes and none of the important suggested feature changes will appear. | 2010-10-01 14:00:00 Author: Shifty Geezer Posts: 131 |
Why would they remove the subtitle option? Was that on purpose? | 2010-10-01 14:09:00 Author: Biv Posts: 734 |
A beta without bugs, are you guys crazy? It seems as if the whole definition of a beta nowadays is just an exclusive demo. Back in the day, betas were a pain in the *** to play because they were just so completely broken. It's because a LOT of (public) betas nowadays are basically just betas to stress-test the servers for online play. Those are generally bug-free, meaning people simply associate the betas with - like you said - exclusive demos. | 2010-10-01 14:44:00 Author: Melfice Posts: 269 |
Yay! Rocket cheetah! The betas are another way to find the bugs and hunt them down. Remember, they're using this to fix the game. | 2010-10-01 15:01:00 Author: JspOt Posts: 3607 |
Why would they remove the subtitle option? Was that on purpose? Don't know, maybe they decide to recode it for some reason,it's beta so they got law to add/remove features as they want | 2010-10-01 15:32:00 Author: Shadowriver Posts: 3991 |
Don't know, maybe they decide to recode it for some reason,it's beta so they got law to add/remove features as they want I hope they put it back, that was really cool. | 2010-10-01 16:21:00 Author: Biv Posts: 734 |
Minus the bugs, the client still freezes too often to be stable. Long way to go. Not to mention the DLC glitch where people who didn't own certain DLC suddenly had them. Nothing like patching up a hole only to open up another. | 2010-10-01 18:02:00 Author: Mr Nive Posts: 137 |
I hope all this doesn't delay it even more. To me the biggest creating demotivator is knowing that LBP2 (Beta) could make it 3 times faster and more awesome... Mm seems to have a lot to do. | 2010-10-01 18:23:00 Author: Unknown User |
Hmmmm... I would mind another delay less than I would mind a buggy game on release. | 2010-10-01 18:49:00 Author: EinRobot Posts: 739 |
i really hope they don't delay any more because after waiting too long the hype starts to wear off, i mean i can easily wait till january, i have a life, but january isn't bad at all | 2010-10-01 20:35:00 Author: howw1313 Posts: 4 |

Worst patch ever. It won't update! My PS3 just resets after agreeing to update, whether or not I'm logged into PSN. LBP2 beta is now unuseable for me. | 2010-10-01 22:27:00 Author: Shifty Geezer Posts: 131 |
Worst patch ever. It won't update! My PS3 just resets after agreeing to update, whether or not I'm logged into PSN. LBP2 beta is now unuseable for me. Have you tried this? Simple solution: When the prompt appear, hit cancel and continue into the Beta (you should be signed out) Then tap the PS button, & press Sign In The prompt will re-appear - accept it & you'll be good to go | 2010-10-01 22:30:00 Author: Doopz Posts: 5592 |
Worst patch ever. It won't update! My PS3 just resets after agreeing to update, whether or not I'm logged into PSN. LBP2 beta is now unuseable for me. Tip: Start up the beta, and when the prompt comes up, select "No". You should then be signed out. Press the PS button and sign back in to the Playstation Network and it will ask you if you want to download the update. Select "Yes" and it should work fine. They have also changed what some of the Creator Curators look like, and the colour of some materials, such as Weathered Steel. | 2010-10-02 13:49:00 Author: TehUberZac Posts: 587 |
Regarding the subtitles, they were broken (clipped letters, not waiting for the Circle button), so maybe they took them out temporarily to fix them. I'd have preferred they left the buggy ones in the game in the meantime, but hey... | 2010-10-02 20:20:00 Author: Rogar Posts: 2284 |

The patch killed my level. After downloading it my level always crashes when I get into it. When it's loaded the screen gets white - as usual -, then I see the checkpoint where my sackboy should come out an BAM freeze! But I tried something really crazy: I press start when the screen is white, before I get into the level. Now I'm getting into the level and the menu is opened, it doesn't freeze!! When I close the menu...guess what...freeze. I tried to get in over Play-Mode but that didn't work either...and well, I don't have access to the beta-forums. Maybe someone can report this for me. It's a real disaster...I put huge effort in my level! ): | 2010-10-03 17:47:00 Author: RedShadow_88 Posts: 100 |
Not to mention the DLC glitch where people who didn't own certain DLC suddenly had them. Nothing like patching up a hole only to open up another. Best patch ever. I actually got given DLC. Woah! I certainly hope they resolve that issue and remove the DLC from people's accounts who didn't pay for it. I don't mind the idea of having it during the beta, but it wouldn't be very fair if everyone gets to keep this free DLC aftrwards. :S | 2010-10-03 18:26:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |
wat DLC? can someone explain whats in it. Pictures will help | 2010-10-03 20:27:00 Author: Coco Loco Posts: 65 |
The Game of the Year edition DLC: MGS pack, Monster pack, History pack, off the top of my head. Its exact contents are probably on the official website. This has to do with the GOTY owners not having their DLC in the beta. The current solution apparently is to give everyone the content. Maybe they'll change this for the final game, maybe not. | 2010-10-03 23:03:00 Author: Rogar Posts: 2284 |

This has to do with the GOTY owners not having their DLC in the beta. The current solution apparently is to give everyone the content. Maybe they'll change this for the final game, maybe not. Everyone better get it. Or I will be filing a formal complaint. GOTY does not register on your acc. Therefor you only gave the DLC with the GOTY disk in. And no, I cant put both my GOTY disk in and my LBP2 disk. Unless they make it see my GOTY game data.. | 2010-10-04 03:39:00 Author: Fishrock123 Posts: 1578 |
No one should really get any of that content for free in the final release. Considering they aren't even letting everyone keep their beta creations... there was really no point in giving them that content to begin with. It was bad enough that they included it in the GOTY edition after we all paid seperately for it on it's original release. Giving it out free to everyone with LBP2 would really be a big slap in the face and the equivalent of Mm giving it's regular supporters of DLC the giant "finger". | 2010-10-04 04:19:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |
....PLEASE MM MAKE THE PATCH PART OF THE US BETA (i.e. the patch already in the U.S. beta so i download both at the same time) you don't know how stressful it'll be for me when i get the beta and try play and that patch has to download and i cant BACKROUND DOWNLOAD (seriously my download speed is so crappy i'll never be able to download it :/ ) | 2010-10-04 06:44:00 Author: Shadowcrazy Posts: 3365 |

If the patch is 800mb how big is the beta? I don't care about download times but I can only download so much a month before the internet is cut. Why would they remove the shiny eyes on Clive? They can't of thought anything else would be better. | 2010-10-04 11:53:00 Author: Snappyguy Posts: 710 |

I hear you loud on clear on that. I'm sure they will find a way to make sure everyone get's their GOTY DLC in the final version. I'm just not impressed with people getting free DLC that we paid for.... nope.... not very impressed at all! Especially considering it isn't necessary for the beta in any way that I can see. If the case ends up being that everyone gets it, I'll be filing a complaint of my own... asking for the money back that I spent on all the DLC I purchased that was given out for free. But like I said, I'm sure in the final released game, there will be no free DLC that we paid for, and that all GOTY owners will have access to their DLC content that came with it. Right Mm... ? Right.... ?! | 2010-10-04 22:00:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |

They gave the DLC in the beta because of the exact problem I mentioned. :/ Nevermind... I'm confused now. I thought only people in the beta got the free DLC. That's why I was confused because the DLC has nothing to do with beta testing. It doesn't matter anyways... so long as no one is getting left out and no one is getting free DLC then I'm happy. | 2010-10-05 01:26:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |
everyone should have the paintinator and water and all other related switches and objects in lbp2, except only those who own the dlc should have access to the levels and costumes and stuff right? im not sure why you guys are so peeved, then again, i have not read this whole thread and may have missed something. | 2010-10-05 06:56:00 Author: Unknown User |
I dunno... they didn't adapt the paint switch to the new LBP2 look. In fact, they could have incorporated the paint switch into the projectile switch, but they didn't. So I don't think the paintinator will be in LBP2 if you didn't get the MGS DLC. | 2010-10-05 13:55:00 Author: Rogar Posts: 2284 |
In/out movers worked if you got them from the person who captured it with the god mode thing. I have far more bugs now. My levels I was working on are now broken. that seems like a perfectly reasonable system... i wonder why they changed it. /sarcasm | 2010-10-05 16:23:00 Author: Deftmute Posts: 730 |

Hmmm... to be honest, I wasn't thinking of it from the angle of the Paintinator and Water. That's something that no one has mentioned yet, but I can see that being pretty important to the beta process. So I'll conceed that it was a good idea (and even a necessity) to give it to people for the duration of the beta.... but certainly not the rest of the materials, stickers, decorations, costumes, levels, objects, etc. As for why we are peeved... it's because it's stuff that is considered a "luxury" that we paid our hard earned cash for. We paid extra for it to enhance our levels and playing experience. If I had known it was going to be free eventually... I would have never bought it in the first place. It's like being tricked, hoodwinked, and bamboozled. If Mm turns around after the beta and includes all that DLC for free... then it's not at all fair to those of us who paid for in on it's initial release or since then. Many of us were peeved that some of the DLC we paid for was thrown in for free in the GOTY edition and didn't think it was very fair to those who have supported Mm and Sony through purchase and download of that content. It was unecessary to give it away free, in my opinion. I was ticked that the extra levels weren't available to everyone... but accepted it because I didn't want to pay extra for it. If they suddenly made all those levels accessible to everyone... that would be just as wrong, because many people bought the GOTY edition just to have access to those levels and it was a selling point for peope to do just that. Anyways, like I siad... good point on the paintinator and water. This makes sense ... at least, it does for the beta. I dunno... they didn't adapt the paint switch to the new LBP2 look. In fact, they could have incorporated the paint switch into the projectile switch, but they didn't. So I don't think the paintinator will be in LBP2 if you didn't get the MGS DLC. That would also be a shame for the same reasons I listed above. I mean, it's not like they didn't know the paintinator and water were going to be a major influence on levels and game-changing content. And it's not like they weren't working on LBP2 at the time that content was released. They should have made these separate and free DLC for everyone right off the bat, instead of treating it's loyal DLC paying customers like cash-cows. Anyways, at this point the discussion is probably moot. Until LBP2 is released and we see if these things get thrown in as freebies, there is not much point in speculation. If it does get thrown in, there will be plenty of discussions and complaining to get invovled in then... of that, I'm certain. | 2010-10-05 17:07:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |

Hmm? what are you talking about? you can look up the users who made the levels that come on it and play the levels free online, i know, my friend had taken me to them. Plus if they do give out the DLC for free i don't mind at all, and that's coming from a guy who has gotten most of the DLC that's out, I don't mind people get stuff i had to pay for... even more so its ok with me if whatever i had to buy, taken it over a year for it to be free for everyone else, its fine i simply in the end i paid to have it more soon then later and i'm ok with that, Yoho~ this whole talk reminds me of Yu-gi-oh where people would get up-set that their hard to get cards would always get re-released a year or 2 later as commons for anyone to get, me my self i was always fine with it even if i had gone and paid for the hard to get one my self, i was happy that every else could get it now as everyone having fun was most impotent in my mind~ x3 *mew | 2010-10-11 22:08:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |
