Credit Page

Archive: 9 posts

There should be a credit page in the description of a level that would show who helped make the level. This would apply to imported objects and levels as well as other users physically helping you in create mode. For example: I import a basic level template from (example names used) Mister_Tee and import an object by SackPerson99. I then invite CREATExMAN and Teh_Des1gn3r into my level to help me work on some details and logic. In the credits page of my level, there would be 3 sections:

Assisted By: CREATExMAN, Teh_Des1gn3r
Level From: Mister_Tee
Objects: SackPerson99

Even if I erase part of the work done by any of these people, the credit remains. EXCEPTIONS: I delete the entire object I imported, or I rewind to before I placed the object/CREATExMAN or Teh_Des1gn3r edited anything in my level.

Thoughts?

Has been suggested so many times before. That system has a fatal problem with it: say, that a random friend X comes in, shows a fancy Cube of Cardboard he made and then deletes it. Your system would give credit for random friend X, though he didn't contribute anything.

I think it should be up for the creator to give kudos to appropriate people.

Yes, but you could rewind to before that player created the cube. Then it wouldn't count. But yes, I can see your point.

Or... just make a cut-scene credit page at the end of the level 2010-09-28 19:01:00

That would require actually making the credits. What I meant was that these credits would be placed automatically without you having to type anything or make any extra cutscenes/etc.

...what if random friend X is a (purple ) ninja and places & deletes that cube unnoticed?

Happy Rewindings to you too.

"Hi, I just made an awesomecake level and I'm too lazy to add another page for the level's info telling the credits."

So imported objects would automatically give credit? So all those wacky names would show up on my levels because I used a someones 3D tool and theck and thack?

If you want to give credit, just used the levels description and/or make a credit page at the end of the level.

Make it yourself.

I guess I didn't make my point clear. I'm suggesting this feature because of the people who DON'T give credit. Like people who will copy a level and republish it as their own, or use an object from another player and not give them credit. In a perfect world, everyone would give credit to whoever they used creations from, but that's not the case.
