Custom music imported from memory stick! Spread the word!

Archive: 29 posts

Oh snap! Why hasn't anyone thought of this yet?!

It couldn't be simpler! Select a song stored in your memory stick to have it imported into your LittleBigPlanet music library, then you can place the song in the level just like you usually would. You can even give it as a gift in a prize bubble. Who else likes this idea?

Even LBP PS3 hasn't the memory to do that. Not even LBP2 has that, it's never going to happen. Good idea, but not going to happen.2010-09-28 15:08:00

Why wouldn't it? You'd think a custom-made song in LBP 2 would take up so much memory to the point where it can't fit on the PS3 console and a memory stick combined. But a regular song? Straight from your music library? Imported into a game? The iPhone can do that without effort!2010-09-28 15:19:00

One word, lyrics. That's what takes up so much space. And before you say: "Well Good life has lyrics" it does but they're very faint. Maybe sometime in the future there will be some mkind of update adding this feature. Hopefully.2010-09-28 15:25:00

Wouldn't that break the copywright law or something?2010-09-28 19:35:00

Even better point than mine Bal.

In the end they will have to ask for tons of permissions and such so it leads us to a beautiful equation.

Too much work, not enough sweet.

Wrong, it indeed has the memory to do so(most likely)
The reason as why not, is copyright laws.
Unless you can get ALL who hold copyright to any music available online to allow Mm/ SONY to do this without it consting hundreads of millions, I don't think this is gonna happen m8.

But hey cheer up, at least we'll be able to re-create the soundtracks on LBP2, and if we get lucky, someone to sing them on the voice recording feature with the lyrics.

Yeah it sucks, but without copyright laws LBP would be a wasteland of chaos and turmoil.2010-09-29 03:02:00

Ok, I don't want to be a Grammar Nazi or anything, but bad spelling/grammar really gets me annoyed for some reason. I mean, c'mon, it automatically spellchecks every word for you (via dotted red line). There is no excuse for bad spelling. So, to all LBPCers out there, it's copyright. Get it right. Please.

Back on-topic:
Yes, importing music (that you have not created or anything) would be illegal indeed.

*sigh*
No game company can be sued for what its users do, that's the result of the agreement signed when you log in. The copyright excuse is garbage. I want my import musics!

Incorrect, I'm guessing that on WipeOut you cant create and share online tracks you have made. Since we would be publishing levels with the music on it would technically be illegal distribution

-On another note, levels are only small files, not even 1 megabyte in most cases. Adding music would add the file size of levels tenfold, making it ALOT longer to download and load levels.

Oh, wait! Someone said something about illegal distribution a while back. What if we couldn't share our songs? The game already has to download music from other packs that we don't own. And what if before we import music it would check the file size before putting it in your level? That way it would save a lot of load time.2010-10-13 14:52:00

Well... YOU CAN ADD them to game if you download the game. Not from UMD. I guess. Just need to go in scripts... files... and maybe all will be fine then.2010-10-13 16:21:00

I have wipeout pulse too. It's not illegal to play your music through the game, it's an intentional feature. It would be illegal if you shared it with other people like this thread is proposing.2010-10-16 12:05:00

I have WipeOut as well. I think you are right Salieri, its the sharing thats illegal.
Btw: The campaign takes forever to complete doesn't it? It took me days. It was quite scary looking at the stats how much of my life I had spent on that game. (Almost as much as LBP!)

I would like a feature to listen to music and create.
It's so plain without music playing. On PS3, you can do it, why not PSP? I get bored of creating so easily when it's quite.

Incidentally, and totally off-topic, wipeout pulse was the first game I created shreable content for. I spent HOURS and HOURS and HOURS making custom ship skins.2010-10-16 18:46:00
