My project finally complete! This level is huuuuuuuuuuuuge, taking 1 and a half full thermometers (hacked, don't worry it never crashes because the level is streamed in). Really amazing 3D effect for the final boss battle, and a landmark in LBP engineering to do the scrolling background for when you're driving along - it's amazing. There's also a nice magic mouth-free cutscene at the beginning.

This level features my 32-way direct control seat - which works great if you've tried it. It also has a vehicle lock-on system. In fact the entire level feels more like something out of LBP2 rather than LBP1. I went through a 160-hour bug whilst creating it, and the level itself took up about 15 spaces on my moon for creating various things for it and then piecing them together. It is not completely glitch free but I've tried and have no more time to work on it. It's for 1 player only, oh and DON'T PRESS X OR YOU MAY DIE.

This level features an object within an emitter within an emitter within an emitter within an emitter!! My thanks go out to rtm223 and aya042, as well as the rest of the LBPC community for inspiration, help & advice and glitches

I am afraid I cannot give F4F this time as I'm going back to uni, unless you want to wait 2 months lol.

Ok I just played your level. This was an extremely innovative gameplay style for LBP, it was very creative and original. I had no idea how you did it! I loved almost all of the top-down parts with the car, but shooting the motorcyclists got a bit repetitive and boring. I loved all the sound and lighting effects, it was a pretty good looking level overall. It was a little weird when the people would blow up, it looked like there were bones and blood and all sorts of stuff flying around. Liked the intro, that was a cool way to start the level out.

There was one part in the level where the scenery disappeared and I saw the dark matter circle and some other contraptions underneath, but then a different scene popped back on. I also didn't like the helicopter boss fight very much. It got really repetitive and was kinda hard as well. I think it depleted your health a little too quickly, and there wasn't anything you could do to stop it.

Overall very nice job though, it looked like it took you a ton of time and it was a brand new concept for me in LBP.
I gave it :star::star::star::star: and a <3

I would appreciate it if you gave me some feedback on my Spy Chronicles Part 2 level. Thanks!!

Yeah this bug popped up very late in development, REALLY annoying - it doesn't do it every time but I had it running smoothly and it broke when I put the boss battle on. By that time it was too late to fix it so as it doesn't ALWAYS break completely I left it as it was.

As for the helicopter fight, did you not try locking on? Sure he's going to be shooting you whilst he's there but it is possible to complete just by aiming at him and holding R1, and you can get him even quicker if you fire rockets at him. At least my sister completed it first time so I didn't think there was too much of an issue there, and it does reset if you die. The 3D approaching road is a cool effect though, no?

No, I didn't try locking on a all, that probably would have made things much easier. Yeah, I did really like the approaching road effect, I thought the trees that would appear periodically looked funny at first, but then I got the concept that they were coming into sight.

Liked the level! Hope my feedback helped!!

You said F4F in your sig, so I assumed this level is what you meant. Here goes!

Story/Dialog

+ Opening cut scene was pretty cool

Gameplay

+ Very fun and original gameplay
+ Something you'd expect to see in LBP2, but very well done for what tools were available to you
+ The use of sounds to indicate whether or not you're actually hitting your target is a nice touch, even if the sound in question does get somewhat annoying after a while
? The helicopter fight was pretty tricky unless you really get used to aiming (then again, I didn't try locking on at all)
- The controls were pretty jerky, but once again, still excellent based on the tools available
- I shot a jeep with the lock on at one part (the corner where the dirt meets the road), and the entire section de-emitted.

Design and Aesthetics

+ Convincing perspective creates great top-down gameplay
+ The sudden change of camera for the helicopter fight kept gameplay fresh
- The jeep seemed to kill itself in the tunnel just before the camera transition. I thought the level was going to break!

Final Thoughts
I've not much to say other than great work, it looks and plays great!

+/- Spread
+: 6
-: 3

Spread: +3

Final Score: :star::star::star::star::star:

Thanks, I put quite a bit of effort into that.

Dohhh lol Do you know how much effort and thought it takes to design a system where a dynamically emitted helicopter can lose 1 health bar through 2 different means, not to mention designing the lock-on system itself?

Hmmm, not come across this bug. It might have been that you simply spent too long in that area (I think that section only spawns for 60 seconds or so, maybe should have fixed that.

I am sooooooooo annoyed about this bug! I have NO idea what causes it, and it popped up so late in development that I didn't have time to fix it before I went off to uni It worked really well before I added the transition to the helicopter fight I think. Don't worry, the level is on a timer and will go to the helicopter fight after a set amount of time if you reach that point, and sackboy is stuck in a dark matter circle with thin gas preventing his escape (muahaha). It used to look really cool

Hey this isn't a review, but I had a friend play this level, he really liked it, but he felt the amount of time to kill the baddies was way too long, and the motorcycles seemed to block the emitter for the jeep gun...and he wished the missle went a bit quicker. But he really liked the level.2010-10-17 06:38:00
