Women's beach volleyball is all I'll be watching. The Olympics are a giant snoozefest, and I don't feel any pride in seeing Americans win medals. It's all about the $$ with the Olympics these days.2008-08-02 12:35:00

Couldn't disagree more.

Na, I like it as well. Something especially with the mens 100M. That one always interests me.

Harrisment, you do realize how many culture and nations you just insulted right?

What part of my post was insulting to a bunch of cultures and nations? That it's a snoozefest? If that offends people, they need to grow thicker skin. I don't get excited by swimming or gymnastics, sorry. You can never tell if Track and Field athletes are juicing or not, so that takes the fun out of watching that.

Or was it the part about it being all about the money? I'm not saying the athletes are after the money. They are there to compete, and I am happy for all of them.

My point was about the IOC and their corruption, along with the tv networks. The Olympics used to be a great event to bring the world together. Now it just seems like another opportunity for big business to cash in.

Not to mention my dislike of the event being in China, which is a horrible example to the world. "Crap on human rights, be communists, pollute like crazy and we'll give you the Olympic games!!!"

Historically I have respect for the Olympics (especially Jesse Owens sticking it to Hitler in Berlin). As it stands now? No interest whatsoever.

This will be my last post on the subject, as I realize this can be a touchy subject for a lot of people. I respect everyone elses opinion, so I would hope you could do the same.

Take it easy no one hates you for having an opinion

first: yes it was the $ thing, those people trained for years with their nation's pride on their back and to say that they were just in it for the money is just plain wrong. (Glad to see that it wasn't your view)

two: Did you just bash China for industrializing and being a communist country....

three: The Olympics are still the same as it was, nations coming together to prove that they can participate in a friendly competition despite their difference, and yet those difference always screws the whole thing up. With the news cashing in on the contraversy,

Its been like that with Russia and US , Its been like that with South Korea, Its been like that with Israel , Its been like that with Taiwan and Canada,

what made you think this year will be different?

Not trying to get into an argument, or disrespect your opinion, but really it was the opposite. They figured the best way to keep China from going off the deep end was to give them the Olympics. This way, they had to behave for a few years, or else they would take it away. How it worked is debatable.

He was more harping on human rights. And Communism is bad, at least from most people's POV.
