if gamesharing is illegal, then why are we allowed to download everything else from other people's accounts?

No we aren't allowed to do that. Sony just have that cause if your PS3 breaks or if it transform into robot, so you can download all your DLC again and use it on your new fresh awesome PS3

Why are we allowed to stab people repeatedly in the shower?

Just cause it's illegal doesn't mean it's impossible.

Besides, the real point of that is to transfer data between one ps3 to another if one breaks. Though I don't see why Sony doesn't just have you only have one PS3 be able to be activated at once :/

Bcause if you YLoD, you can't deactivate the accounts on that system.
If they did that, many people would loose their DLC.

Woah, I thought you'd know better then to bump up a four month old thread to respond to something I said I don't care about anymore o-O.

If gamesharing is illegal, why do people (who can buy stuff themselves, they only do gamesharing so they don't have to spend their own money on DLC) do it? Because practically no one reads the Online Terms of Agreement thing, am I really one of the very few who have read it?!2011-02-08 04:53:00

the funny thing about those terms and conditions is that my internet connection times out before i can get to the end.
so i will never make it to the end...
a bit dissapointing because i am told that the end is classic.
i didnt skip to the end as i felt it would mess up the plot.

I had this argument with a sony rep;
At first I didn't have my own PS3 - but I did have a PSN account.
So I was a "floating user";

You can open a PSN account - and buy items from the PSN Store - but NOT actually own a PS3; - Which was my situation.

So, because I didn't have a PS3 - when I went round to my mates house who did own a PS3 - I would, quite legitimately, wish to access my content... and similarly, when I went to my brothers house - I would want, quite legally and legitimately, to access *my* content, bought and paid for by *me*.

Now when the time came for me to get my own PS3 - I was concerned that I would not be able to download all of *my* content - so I phoned them up just to make sure I would be able to....
That's when this sony rep starting going on about Game-Sharing and that what I was doing was illegal.

Well, I asked him... where in the EULA T&C's does it state that I would not be able to access my content that I had bought legitimately on any PS3 that I wanted to access it on...
He took a while and then came out with "It's there - just trust me!"
So I asked him specifically - What clause & where in the EULA T&C's... and he was stumped.
SO he told me he would phone me back once he had found the clause.

30 minutes later I get the call back - and "surprise surprise" there is no such clause in the EULA - and the one that he did give that "supposedly" covered "game-sharing" was so poorly worded that it could be interpreted any number of ways - including that you HAD to keep an account active on any PS3 that you wanted to access your content on, if you wanted to continue accessing it. I also pointed him to a recent UK ruling that states that downloadable content is to be treated exactly the same as "real world" content - in terms of consumer rights.
So I successfully argued my case and they reset the 5 download limit.

You just need to know how to argue
