Are You an Optimist or a Pessimist?

Hey guys!

I was just curious in finding out more about the members here. I've seen a few negative posts here, along with a few positive ones. So I wondered "What do people think they're best classified as?"

I was originally going to enter another question, but I thought this suited better.

So, are you an optimist1 or a pessimist2?

It's just a curious question. Feel free to leave a reply to your choice.

I'm not sure, depends on what i'm talking about.

Example, I will see a glass of Orange Juice I would say Half full because I like the idea of it being full.
But If I seen someone smoking a cigarette I will say the Pack is half empty because I don't like the idea of smoking.		2010-09-25 14:08:00

I guess I'm optimistic.

Even though reality is interpreted as sad and confusing, I have this inexplicable hope that things will change for the better.

Negativity doesn't exist because of the presence of adversity. chaos or suffering. It is merely a sign of progress. Progress of a Universe slowly becoming one again...

We all exist in unity so therefore, all things that exist are significant and apart of an infinite perpetuating entity. Chemical imbalances, and misfortunes in nature impairs the conscious mind from seeing the beauty of existence. But all is apart of the twist and turns that occurs in the act of reunition...

Does Optissimist count? sometimes you can get a good angle from both sides, Optimist lets you look the bright side of life and prevents you stress, but an excess like in example i have a test tomorrow, and i haven't studied, yet I am optimist and say I will pass it without studying. Same for Pessimist, it lets you see the worst scenario in a situation and take countermeasures about it.

This is not entirely true. A pessimist can easily give up and just let whatever happen to him/her, because they'll just at it negatively. Now an optimist can solve the problem because, well being so positive, he/she will look on the positive side of things: a solution. So it varies on the situation and person.

That comment, by the way, just made me think of a new topic: are you a defeatist? Personally, I'm not a defeatist. If there's a way out of situation, even the smallest solution, I'd take it rather than sit back and let the worse happen.		2010-10-02 11:32:00
