Archive: 44 posts

Marshy Dungeon of Mysteries NOW WITH SCREENSHOTS!!!FreeAim
Screenshots! YAY!
Enter this marshy dungeon full of mysteries and obstacles.
Evil masks, puzzles, enemies, secrets, obstacles, platforming, race and... penguins?!?
I created this level guite a long time and it's definetly my best so far! Orginaly I planned a storyline and seguel but now I think it's better not to. It took me a very, very long time to finish with all the logic in it, so I hope you can appreciate it. It's themed on a dark green/dark brown coloured enviroment with abstract decorations and epic obstacles. I have also included multiplayer areas (since it works nicely on 2-4 players) for 2 and 3 players. There are total of 5 prices to collect in it and lots of points for competetive gameplay. I didn't want to make level that starts up good and ends up bad but I neither wanted to make it repetitive so it has lots of different styles of gameplays. I really hope u can enjoy this level as much as I enjoyed creating it. And if u think it's good dont forget to <3!
SCREENSHOTS IN THIS LINK: http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/album.php?albumid=1725

It's a fantastic level, great gameplay and underwater sections. You did a great job on the design like the layering of different materials and all these lights and stickers really makes a wonderful atmosphere and mood. I think it just needs one or two more of that walking mask enemy, just seems out of place having the one or am I missing the point?

regardless it's a 5 star level to me plus heart, tagged beautiful.

That sure is nice of you! I think there were supposed to be 2 enemies in it. I think I accidently removed other one. I have to check it out. Oh and BTW, which level u want me to put feedback on, if any.

Hi FreeAim. We had playtested the first part of this level. But it's a lot of fun to run through it again, and see it completed.

Great stuff. Good combination of materials, stickers and decorations: crumbling ruins, half sunken in a swamp. Really like the lighting and fairytale mood that it evokes.

The gameplay is nice, not too easy, but not too hard. Especially like the part with the moving pillars.

Only thing I didn't care for were the enemies. Felt a little out of place.

I will return to test out the x2 and x3 areas.

All in all, solid level: :star::star::star::star::star: and <3.

If you're up for F4F, please give my level Kurtz and the Dead City of Fabul (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=30621-Kurtz-and-the-Dead-City-of-Fabul) a try.

This is your best level yet. The visuals looked amazing and felt like you're in a murky swamp and the gameplay is the best thing in this level thanks to some great platforming and moving objects. I don't see any problems in this level except that the moving platform with the chains could be moving a bit faster. Overall, great job. 5 :star:s and a <3.

Play and F4F any one of "The Hero Chronicles" levels. Oh yeah... I already asked you that in your previous level a few days ago . I guess in addition to any one of them, I would also like to hear your feedback on the ones that haven't reach the cool level pages of this site yet which are LV4 and LV5.

Great job! This is absolutely beautiful, all the details work together very well, which is something I don't often see in LBP! Very nice subtle touches with everything. Love the character design and the level itself is fun to play.

The only bad thing is that it ends, almost abruptly. I wish there was a little more action, but all in all excellent.

Okay, I played the level and here's what I thought.

I loved the marsh look to this level and the use of stickers were great. I also loved ll the lights seeping through, that was nice also. I thought the frogs all around were a great and liked how you added the 2x and 3x challenge. Plus the gameplay was great like the platforms going up and down and the underwater part was great also,I liked the spiky challenges down there. I also liked the choice of music of course. Now here are some very minor complaints, so it doesn't matter that much if you don't fix it, but if you did, that might be a bit better

1. The penguins are a good addition, but I think the level just feels better with frogs since it is a marsh.
2. It might look a bit better if the music were invisible

But anyway, this was a great level, I had a lot of fun and would give it :star::star::star::star::star: and a <3 if I didn't lose connection while playing the level Great job FreeAim

Oh and as for F4F,(I hope I'm not breaking the rules xP) could you give feedback on my friend's level instead of mine? It's a nice level but not getting much feedback at all. Anyway, here's the link to the level thread.

Loved how you layered everything. Only thing that kind of bugged me was the simplistic enemies.
Really fun level none the less.

@Dragonvarsity
I think that penguins there are great. It is ''Marshy Dungeon of MYSTERIES'' after all. I can make music boxes invisible anyway.
@Nosada_Kage
Thank you for feedback! It's always nice to hear people liking my level. I worked very hard on it, u know.
@CreativeBlynk
I don't care much about enemies in it. I could have made them a bit more interesting, if it wasn't for ''MR. Thermometer''. Anyway I decided to add 'em cause I personally like very much when there are custom enemies to smack and kill in the level. Thank you for feedback and especially your heart!

Just played this level of yours. This was another good one by you. I really liked the organic feel of the level. The sticker placement was perfect. In the area by the moving columns that you have to climb up from one to the other, the check point right before it had a wall that I would not auto transistion to the next layer when I was running past, not and issue, just did not have it happen in oany ther areas of the level so I noticed it. You seem to like leaving the motors and radios visible. I have been avidly hiding them, figure you must like the look of them, but I think your level would look even more organic if you hid them. As for the bad guys, I also thought they did not do your level justice...adn I know the thermo can suck. How about you replace the face sticker with one of the shroom sickers you used in the level (so it will reduce the thermo...very little though). I think if you swaped them out and did the cut-out of a single one it would rock even more. I liked the race, the music worked for me, the spikes i nthe water were well done...the middle one could have been a little lower to make it more dangerous...but I hate spikey water things...so I was more than happy the way it was. The frogs worked well, the rocks on the other side was a good touch. Great level, just wish you would try out hiding some of those switches and possibly try a shroom baddie.2010-10-02 09:24:00

Very nice level.
The lighting is beautiful.
I liked the use of stickers in the background. It felt organic, but i could still tell where I could walk.
I like to explore, so I love when there are hidden rooms with score bubbles. (Like your underwater room.) It reminds me of the original Super Mario.
The giant floating enemy is a tense, eerie moment. I enjoyed it, but the later enemies didn't seem as disturbing.
The frogs and penguins are nice, but the penguins' presence caused me to scratch my head...How did these penguins get here? I smell a sequel!
Good music choices, but the music boxes should have been hidden, in my opinion.

All in all a very fun and beautiful level! I'll play again with my kids to open the 3x section!

Thanks for the cool level, and thanks for your review of mine!

Thank u for ur opinion on this level. It's always nice to hear people liking it. I haven't seen anyone commenting about 2x or 3x sections yet. Is it just usual to people to play community levels alone.

Made few changes:
-Inscreased the middle platforms' speed at the ''9 platforms with winches'' part
-inscreased race time a bit
Changes still to make:
-Hide music boxes
-Design new sort of enemy

I played your level today and all I can say: a well deserved spotlight!

The levels biggest "+" is the atmosphere due to the lighting. Very realistic and it underlines the levels theme! Just perfect! Even that I didn't see brand new elements, I enjoyed it very much. But hey: why did I have to kill a frog at the end? HEHE...thought these frogs are the good ones :-) Well, the frogs: first impression of these frogs were: "hmm, the frogs looks like IceMaiden" created them. Don't know if she helped you with this level or if you've been influenced by here frog-music-level... All in all a very nice and very good plattformer with a brilliant atmosphere and great visuals! Will you make a second part?

-New ending (Since I have heard comments about it ending ''Surprisingly''
-Few small changes around. Nothing big.

Certainly that it was going to play your level, do not worry and on the contrary thank you very much for playing the mine.

It is not F4F but here this my opinion: really this work is excellent, your you know that you are also a good creator, i like me the design, the utlizaci?n of stickers, and LBP's characters were very well used, i like me the platform, the actions with the switches, the whole level is good enough, a very good point was the sign of the arrow with the plants it me great taste.

I have given you 5:star:'S

Thank you very much! It is always nice to get positive feedback. Glad you liked the details, because I really worked hard on them, and especially the places to put them in.
I just wonder why level is only 4 stars. All the feedback I've been getting here are 5 stars, but because of all the gealous 1 star noobs it just can't raise higher.

Hey I played it and enjoyed it. I thought some of the stickers were a bit random though, the penguins for instance, they didn't add anything for me and given the setting just seemed inappropriate. Some more comedic situations/ lines could fix that. Then there's the cartoony eyes on the bits of wood around the place, the environment had an organic, realistic feel so those stood out to me. Maybe more oozy/ holey bits with them peeping through as they just seem tacked on right now. There was one frog enemy but I thought the frogs were my friends?? Didn't like having to kill one, could make it look more evil/possessed. The boss could have been more creative I think.2010-10-22 05:18:00

@OEB
Thanks for such detailed feedback. Most people just tell what they like and say like: ''It was cool'' and stuff. I already explained the penguins in the swamp. Then cartoonic eye stickers on the wood. I always thaught that they looked great there, because they created abstract atmosphere inside the level. Well, it's obvious that someone won't like them Sure I can put more ''EVIL'' eyes on the frog. I just wanted to make enemies different. That's his explanation. I don't really mind about creativity of the boss. Main thing is that it is there. I have never maked, or even tried to make boss fight to any of my levels so thats reason for ''Not creative'' boss. Anyway I thank you for the feedback! Nice to hear some constructive criticism for a change.

I apologize for this very belated feedback, it simply slipped my mind, I'm really sorry. I don't want to write this any later than I have to and unfortunatley do not have any access to my ps3 right now therefore i have to do this from memory. The environment is well made, everything looked authentic and fit in the world. The only visual discrepancy I had with the level, were the enemy designs with were simplistic and ugly, however you may have remedied this since I last played it. The obstacles were also all well made, and a great challenge. All in all, the level was a really great pleasure to play, I gave it five stars.2010-11-06 23:03:00
