Yes Sprite Hologram technic that you can animate using selectors, first guy mention this is the one who made retro arcade level, and jump_button is not only one experimenting with it. Major con of this technic is fact that holograms are moving thru objects (good to make ghosts lol) and you need to invent your own custom hit detection to avoid that, so using them is harder then normal objects.

Real Mario World 1-1 recreation is only matter of time, and top-down view jRPG style games are the easiest to recreate with this

In a level like the one in that video where it is dark I would think you could put a thin layer of weightless material behind the player and everything it collides with and it wouldn't be seen afaik.

Wow, that's amazing jump! I wonder how much thermo it takes up, looks like a pretty complex character, hoping it doesn't take up too much 2010-09-24 15:08:00

Chances are the thermo is most likely non-existent... theres so much room in the thermo to do so much, its just ridiculous.

Not much ^^ look on my TV it uses about 50 hologram pieces if not more, still it takes only 1/2 thermo and most of it taken by intense logic (mostly noise generator for each square hologram). Platformer with simple controls would take much much lower, not to mention, you can generate elements of the game only if you need them and destroy element if you don't need them depending on player position, since in LBP2 emitters takes thermo only from thing that are emitted, not take thermo for reserve for emition as it was in LBP1, so for platformer thermo is infinite in practice if you manage it well

SufferingSnakes Idea.
Just saying.

That does not matter~
Just because that guy was one of the first to use the idea does not mean its his,
I mean come on, I think a whole lot of people got this idea as soon as MM showed
their Pon minigame, So if you think about it, Its MM's idea~ Yohohohooho~ *mew

Um?
The pong isn't pixelated movement.
SufferingSnakes made a pixel movement Mario, about a week later, jump did this.
Coincidence? I think not.

Thats not what i said,
I clearly said: I think when most people saw MM's Pong game most people got this idea
of old school pixelated games, i said a little more as you seem to not be good at reading in the meaning
to what others said IMO~ *mew

Pong is complilty different thing, its just hologram on mover (not to mention original pong worked in 80% analog circuitry, to level that MAME removed emulation of the arcade since they notice that they more simulating electronical circuitry instead of digital components), we talking here about animated sprite holograms using selectors and this is something that MM didn't showed

wow talk about thinking the worst of people, you really think everyone playe every level in the beta? im doing alot of more making then playing.

Just say you know i only knew about SufferingSnakes level when i was making this and talking to GrantosUK about it he told me they was one like it already.

you really think oneone can have the same idea and really ill make what every come to mind already done or not

*Sigh* Fine then how about MM's Space invaders? im pretty sure the Sack invaders have
moving arms and legs... And that may be more sample then what are buddy Jump has made
but its still the same kind of idea, i know for sure when i saw MM's-Sack invaders minigame
it give me the idea of sprite games in lbp, so it don't have to be the same 100% thing to
give someone a idea like it did me and many~ *mew

SufferingSnakes Idea.
Just saying.

You didn't need to say anything. That was unnecessary and rude. I've had ideas that other people have already done, does that mean i stole them? No. Jump also never claimed to be the first one to come up with this. "Just saying"? Why, there was no need to say it.

Nice to know a capable creator like yourself is handling this concept. I really wanted to do this BUT...no beta :'(

Saw the youtube video, it's coming along nicely.

SufferingSnakes made a pixel Mario!? I had that idea months ago. Coincidence? I think not...

...so it is possible...
I was thinking about doing this; now I know that I can. (Or could, anyway- I'm not in the BETA*)
Anyways, thanks jump_button!

Hi all, am new to these forums although ive been looking at the tutorials and such since lbp1.

Ive been trying to do the topdown style 2d sprite with selectors, emitters and such and im not having any luck with it, can anyone point me in the direction (or help me) to an in depth step through guide/tutorial on how to achieve this please. (even if someones done a level on the lbp2 online)

I cant find much on it except top down cars and spaceships etc (which is not what im looking for)

How can you make the sprites animate whilst you hold down lets say the right stick to the left or right, ive created the sprites from the hologram material and such but im getting more confused the more i try things out lol.

Any help would be greatly apreciated and many thanks in advance!
Flux.
