Something that would be very good

Archive: 14 posts

I don't know if they already made it like that but those who can play the beta and write their opinion to the official beta forum could mention something I just thought of.
It would be very good if people who join your editor could only copy your stuff when you give them the rights to do so. This way no one can steal your work ever again.

Isn't there already a feature to do this? I thought you had to "ask" to be able to edit someone else's level in the creator?2010-09-23 20:03:00

I think you are referring to two or more players using create mode at the same time? About a month ago I was working on a level and invited a fellow player in to check out what I was working on. He kept getting booted due to my lousy internet connection at the time, and then invited me to his moon. When I entered his moon, I found that I was in my own level that I had just left, but on his moon. I had NO idea other creators could copy your level if in create mode (as I never saw the use of two or more people working on the same level), and was a bit freaked out by it, to say the least. I'm pretty sure he said it was because the level was still set to Unlocked and Copyable. I'm assuming then, that as long as your level settings are the opposite of that, otther creators won't be able to copy your works. If this is the case, then I'm sure it will be the same for LBP2.

I could be wrong though, as I never go into create mode with other people and don't know enough about it to be sure.

That has happened to me too, but did it actually copy itself to his Moon? When it did happen to me, the Start menu was as in Play Mode, AKA no save level buttons there... and when you quit the level, you appear from a random crater...

@Rustbukkit
Is not like coasterfreak said? im pretty sure theres no way to copy a level while in someone else's moon,
as its not his level so theres no save buttons for him, pretty sure people can only take your stuff by
hand copying whatever while with you~ *mew

Well I was talking about single objects. When you have build something very good others shouldn't be able to copy it unless you give them rights.2010-10-23 17:27:00

Although not related to your idea, I have an idea that I think "would be very good". And I want to make MM hear it...

I believe that there's an important deficiency in the highly anticipated and great game called Little Big Planet 2. Which is: In creating 2-D platform levels, a gadget that inverts objects in different axes (especially in the X-axis) is needed. To define it more precisely, the characters or objects (produced by materials) should be able to face in the opposite direction (i. e. turn from left to right instantly) with a command from the controllinator. The (hand-made) hero or an enemy creature in the game should be able to face the opposite direction (get inverted instantly) without the need to be re-emitted and maintaining all its specialities, as in all simple platformers. This can also allow the players to design shooters that flow in both directions (left and right at the same time). This deficiency in the previous game used to compel the players to design creatures that can only face one direction and move backwards -while facing the opposite direction- instead of being able to "turn/face" to the opposite direction and move afterwards. If a gadget that "inverts" objects/creatures made by the players can be added to LBP2, that would simply be awesome...

That really would be useful. I can't believe they haven't thought of it. Or if they did why would they even leave it out.

At the moment we are not supposed to be using online create mode, u you have to use a bug to join someone elses edit mode so we still dont know for sure what is going to be added or taken away from online create, they may still be working on things like your idea so we will have to wait for either another BETA update or the final game2010-10-26 18:52:00

You're right, Amigps. They even designed their creatures in accordance with this lack in LBP1. And still, they don't consider this lack as important since a "filpper" device is not present among the new logic... Sadly, I think it won't be added to LBP 2...2010-10-30 11:58:00

Not when it can be easily accomplished with emitters, where each emitter stores a flipped version of the enemy.

Ok, let's flip "enemies". But what about flipping "heroes" controlled by the joy-pad (via the controllinator). Emitting enemies is the simplest thing to achieve but when it comes to emitting objects that can flip to right and left and that are controlled by the player, things get complicated since emission requires "empty spaces" and when the spaces are filled with even the tiniest of materials, then: catastrophe....2011-01-04 13:33:00
